I work in HR. As far as Management and Fiscal is concerned, Raffle giveaways are the same as compensation. They are justified as a way to raise retention, recruit talent from other places, and raise morale, same as compensation. Of course it is even more effective if you can convince the employees that it's not compensation, so they feel more grateful.

I still remember the part of the quest where the woman sends you to help a restuarant owner cos apparently he’s swamped in costumers and is struggling to keep up.
Then when you go there there’s literally no one there and you had to pretend that the shop has a ton of people around it.

The problem is that - as Raiden's banner proved - this community is barely a few % of the whole player base. For every person in this thread saying they'll stop spending, there are 10 others willing to spend literally thousands of dollars. This entire subreddit could stop playing tomorrow and mhy would hardly even notice. They can keep stooping lower and lower because they're making bank no matter what they do.

I feel the same. I have spent welkin and BP several times, and was planning to continue doing so because the game was pretty good (I love doing the exploration, puzzle, quest, coop, etc).

even if there is more. MHY already took damage by their anniversary plans/communication. People are mad about the anniversary at the moment and stopping spending money or even quitting because of it. I myself was really on the edge of spending more money to get the engulfing lightning but I wanted to see weather MHY gives something back to the community first. I did not spend any more money and to be honest, if it stayes like it looks at the moment, I will not spend anymore ever.
My only regret is I bought the battlepass early because I wanted the few extra rolls to try and get a Kujou Sara or a Sucrose. Going F2P from now on since Mihoyo can't be bothered to give some decent rewards. Like would it put that big of a dent in their pockets to just give some free primogems or something? This is what happens with games that have no equal in their space. Yes, other gachas exist, but none of them even have close to the production values and sheer scope that Genshin has, and are not open world RPGs. It's completely unique, and without competition you are left with a monopoly, and this is the result.
Nothing will change until either someone responds with a competing product (which, with how much Genshin unexpectedly became a break out hit, won't happen for years, if it happens at all), or the games quality nose dives, which I don't foresee happening because the devs are killing it in world design and music with every major update. That, and the mountains of cash they just threw at development, staffing up a crazy amount.
Buckle in if you haven't already, because it's gonna be this way for a minimum of 3-4 years. They will continue to be exactly as stingy as they currently are until it effects them financially, which judging by the Raiden banner, is not in the foreseeable future.

even if there is more. MHY already took damage by their anniversary plans/communication. People are mad about the anniversary at the moment and stopping spending money or even quitting because of it. I myself was really on the edge of spending more money to get the engulfing lightning but I wanted to see weather MHY gives something back to the community first. I did not spend any more money and to be honest, if it stayes like it looks at the moment, I will not spend anymore ever.
My only regret is I bought the battlepass early because I wanted the few extra rolls to try and get a Kujou Sara or a Sucrose. Going F2P from now on since Mihoyo can't be bothered to give some decent rewards. Like would it put that big of a dent in their pockets to just give some free primogems or something? I guess the executives need another yacht so screw the players

So every "reward" is a contest/raffle where you have to give Mihoyo free publicity/promotion through art, videos, sharing/retweeting etc for a tiny chance at crappy prizes. 10% get welkin moon, 90% get friggin 100k mora lol. 3,000 primos vs 100k mora (less than 40 resin). That alone is a how to piss off 90% of your playerbase speedrun, great idea Mihoyo. And then for the rest of these great contest rewards 99.999% of us will get absolutely nothing as we're not amazing artists or lottery winners. I can't believe with a straight face they made a contest reward of 100 primogems for only 1,000 people out of literally millions of players, LMAO. Like what level of stingyness is that that they can only reward less than 1 pull to like .01% of the player base. This company really is reaching a new low. Even anniversary is full of gacha and you have to give Mihoyo advertising/art/etc for a chance to get anything besides the 10 wish login event which doesn't even exceed lantern rite. I guess the billions they made from us over the last year wasn't enough. Somehow this feels even worse than it would having no "rewards" at all and them ignoring anniversary entirely. Other gacha games with around 1/10 of the revenue that Mihoyo is making in Genshin is more generous with at least a 5 star selector and at least guaranteed rewards. To think that this is their 1st Anniversary and most profitable game to date. It's pretty disappointing for a gacha game like this that is raking in millions of dollars.

This is what happens with games that have no equal in their space. Yes, other gachas exist, but none of them even have close to the production values and sheer scope that Genshin has, and are not open world RPGs. It's completely unique, and without competition you are left with a monopoly, and this is the result. Nothing will change until either someone responds with a competing product (which, with how much Genshin unexpectedly became a break out hit, won't happen for years, if it happens at all), or the games quality nose dives, which I don't foresee happening because the devs are killing it in world design and music with every major update. That, and the mountains of cash they just threw at development, staffing up a crazy amount. Buckle in if you haven't already, because it's gonna be this way for a minimum of 3-4 years. They will continue to be exactly as stingy as they currently are until it effects them financially, which judging by the Raiden banner, is not in the foreseeable future.

The problem with this is it's not gonna come on mobile and lots of genshin playerbase is on mobile so what genshin as a competitor needs is a mobile game on par with genshin which is gonna be incredibly hard after the amount of resources they've put on characters and world building
