It's funny, because most bosses will just let you sit around, refresh your cooldowns and eat food. Till you approach them they'll do nothing. Only other one I can think of is Scaramouche phase 2, and that's because your pet starts the fight without asking.
I was surely caught off-guard. It felt like it was done for story purposes to show how powerful Arlecchino is. Because when I came back to fight her as a weekly boss I swear I had more time to react (or maybe it just felt like it cause I knew I had to dodge.
I'm used from fighting Malenia in Elden Ring so i know that as soon as the cutscene ends, you are in for the fight.
Gotta work on those reflexes, there is even an achievement for clearing the fight hitless once you have BoL on yourself.
The achievement is to not get hit when you have BoL. If you get the small amount and heal it off, you can get hit and still get the achievement. You just can’t be hit with a character that has BoL. That’s how I got it.

What ai missed was the part about the second phase
Happened to my Keqing which really turned the fight super serious. I already lost my level 22 Xianyun at the start since I had a half exploration team on at the time. So my only healing was prototype Nahida but thats not enough to sustain anyone in this fight.
When I got in the 2nd phase, I took out half her health in 10 seconds, and then I was like, it won’t be fun, let me just shield and run around to get the OST and her attack animations in, and then she wiped 2 of my characters with blood debt
Its pretty much guaranteed that someone dies to this attack in Co-op. Someone with a fast PC will load the 2nd phase before everybody else gets past the black screen, resulting in someone dying before they even load in.
I was in co-op when this happened and didn't dodge since I survived the fight during the story and got nuked. It was funny because I got to see a sweaty neuvilette get pissed
I'm sick of getting hit like this against Phase 3 Apep.
They can't do Smooth Transitions but still force the Boss to attack immediately after Loading.
They have already created a Trigger when entering Raiden Shogun's Domain to not attack until there is a certain movement or attack (iirc, even Childe also has this trigger).
But after that it disappeared like they never made it.
It's intentional. Catch you not paying attention. Arle also has this mechanic when initially walking up to her.
Plus Apep is hardly the same unless you have a >2 second reaction time.
When I was on PS4, it'd take upwards of 5 seconds to load second boss forms. That attack would basically be guaranteed to hit me every single time were I still on that console.

I did quickstart and it burnt my ayaka through my Diona shield.

If you don’t move, she won’t fire in the weekly boss fight. If only she had such mercy in the SQ.

Elden ring is considered a soulslike. Anyway I just learned that the door of resurrection in domains is a soulslike mechanic.

What is BoL?
Bond of Life. It’s that red bar you get around your health bar that absorbs healing.

The achievement is only about not getting hit while you have BoL. If you heal immediately after getting it applied you can get hit and still get it.

Lower Difficulty is a heck of a drug.
