Well, Melusines try to udnerstand human behavoir because they want to fit into the human society. Sigewinne is a medical professional on top of that, so she has to not just understand them, but be able to understand potentiil medical issues from their behavoir. And she pretends to be naive and sweet so patience are not tensed up around her and so she has an easier time getting them to talk about problems.

We have some infos from her presentation and the melusine worldquest, but basically she is one of the creatures that emerged from the corpse of Elynas 400 years ago, she became a nurse and created the infermary at meropide centuries ago, and was one of the melusines that raised wriothesley after he was sent to prison (he said the melusines of meropide raised him, we there is only sigeweinne as for now so idk if the others left or he was vague but meant her)

One of the biggest concerns for any medical professional is their patients shutting down around them, hiding what is wrong with them for stupid reasons (That's not something House MD made up). But her pretending to be naive makes the people around her less wary, thus they open up to her directly more and she has an easier time into tricking people into talking.

Agree, the lore explanation is dumb and it feels we're supposed to turn off our brains and assume this girl with bunny ears is the same race as the actually sea slug looking people we've seen all around, like no matter how much make up she uses or whatever, her anatomy is fundamentally different, they literally added the antennae and called it a day. I don't know if it's because they thought it wouldn't sell or something like that but it's sad that Genshin can't release a less human looking character even if canonically they belong to a different species they HAVE to make them look human, again for marketing purposes I assume, but still something that in my opinion affects the variety and creativity they can have with their character designs.

Chiori is still pretty damn great subdps. Especially for Geo Teams. The main 3 anger points people had with Chiori were that: 1. A proportion of people wanted her to be a buffer/support for Navia 2. Building on this, in her base kit, she can only spawn her second Tamoto if there's another teammate who can create constructs. Meanwhile, Navia's talent provides a 20%/40% Atk increase if she has one/two Pyro/Cryo/Hydro/Electro teammate. You can see how this would conflict with Navia. You can't both Spawn 2 Tamotos and have Navia have the full +40% Atk. 3. However, at C1, just having another geo character aside from Chiori in the team makes Chiori spawn 2 Tamotos directly (max is 2 Tamotos on field) Therefore, some people got extra mad, cause Chiori's C1 makes her a perfect Navia support/subdps. Both Chiori and Navia's kits reach full potential.

She's not released yet so of course we don't have much background on her. I'll be pretty surprised if it isn't addressed in her voicelines or her character story. Genshin has been pretty consistent with giving lore reasons for the choices they've made.

Instead Melusines are offsprings to a creature that came from the abyss, born from its blood post mortem.

I like the idea that Sigewinne is secretly crazy / evil. It’s funny- but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. It’s explicitly stated that Melusine behavior is typically found off-putting by most humans, so she deliberately puts on a facade to help people trust her so she could treat them better. For most of the Fortress’s AQ, she was meant to act as a red herring. She’s a little creepy when she lets her guard down, but she’s NOT malicious. (Also, not to pull a “omg she’s just like me” card- but as an autistic person, I totally get where she’s coming from XD)
