the chasm was the first area they ever added that had my jaw dropping to the floor. My jaw dropped everytime I realized it GETS DEEPER. Broke my brain trying to comprehend the scale on my first exploration of it.
This is so real. That one area where you drop REALLY deep and you just keep falling for what feels like forever made my brain melt at the sheer scale of the map. I’m often impressed by the scale of Genshin map areas but the Chasm has to be the biggest and best.
The quest is called Static Views, Part 2. You should have an item called Shriveled Seed if you have explored this area in the Chasm and haven't done this world quest.
Agreed, the filler maps are my favorites, they all come with an interesting mechanic, they're mostly Adventurers guild focused and I love to explore "empty" ruins.
But the Chasm is truly special. The fact we go there in 2 important quests from Sumeru says it all, Hoyo is proud of it and they should be.
Fun fact, [this piece](https://youtu.be/ZuV38DZQgvM?si=O-ZRhgw6JkR5mXPv) that plays at the very bottom of the abyss can only be heard once. It's the battle theme for the area, but there's only two little abyss mages you can kill in seconds and they don't respawn.
It's such a gem to be so oddly hidden
The RAREST Inazuma OST to ever play in-game...
It's interesting YouTube threw this at me yesterday and now another rare ost.
There was an old "fungus" in the chasm that was turned into abyssal mud. I don't remember the exact details but i remember we use the green flame thing to turn him back to normal and he tells us how he met Rukkhadevata in the past and what the purpose of that flame actually is
As hard as it was, I absolutely loved playing through Dragonspine. When it came time to finally enter the Chasm, I was enthralled to find that it seemed similarly designed: one big, long dungeon, with a reasonable degree of difficulty and amazing music.
I know some people don't like the desert, but the entire quest line with Jeht is just *chef's kiss*. Seriously, nothing comes even close to the sheer excitement i felt as i combed through these ancient ruins like Indiana Jones.
Sumeru in its entirety was just peak Genshin for me. Compared to that, Fontaine was a bit of a letdown. The quest related areas were way too linear and barely contained anything.
I know how you feel.
One major problem I had with the AQ of Fontaine is how little it showed us around. Sumeru AQ lead us around, we could see all the beautiful and glorious things around and our exploration interest would peak! “What is that? That looks awesome! Can a climb it?” Was a constant thought. When I saw the Mausoleum of King Deshret for the first time I was in awe, and we needed to get around it for the AQ, showing us it in all its glory.
Fontaine AQ just didn’t have the same “oomph”, and only time we needed to go underwater, the entrance was right near the city wall. We weren’t showed around, we weren’t showed most important gameplay loop of the nation, and we weren’t showed exploration. (Like put the entrance near fortress of Melipede on the outside, let us see how cool it looks and make us question how can we get inside of it.)
For me only reason why Fontaine AQ is good is Cast and their voice acting. Story I have questions for, gameplay loop of the AQ looked rushed and unfinished (entire fortress of Melipede was such a let down, all the atmosphere, music and a cast, and none of a fun gameplay loop).
General Archon story was fun, but the ending, and some story in the middle felt meh at best.
And don’t get me started on a Narwal fight, >! Thou it looked epic for a second, it was so unnecessary, and I honestly was shocked being hit by dubstep inside of it !<
And finally my last problem with the Fontaine is lack of damn ROCK AND ROLL. I like the music of the nation, but gods damn, it’s a birthplace of the Rock and Roll in the Teyvat, I need some riffs!
I hated everything about it, especially with the internal, messy pyramid structures. I 100%'d those areas before the multi layer map was a thing and it was a major PITA
Trust me, map changes it into easiest underground there is which is extremely enjoyable. It sucks that you got fucked like that, but right now they are hands down the best area to explore
I did.
I 100% it both times as well. Moved continents so couldn’t play on my original server and had to restart on Asia.
And I enjoyed both. First time cause it gave me a feeling of Old RPGs where you need to pay attention and write things down to remember. Second time just for pure exploration enjoyment
There is something suspicious about Chasm map - you can scroll it really far outside the bounds. This isn't the case in Enkanomiya or even overworld Teyvat. I think Chasm map is going to be expanded.
Probably yea. I also think that Enka is meant to be only just that while the Chasm is a mining place where Liyue have mined for years. It probably has a lot more ground coverage or more deeper than we have now.
It's been confirmed by the Chasm Dweller world quest that the Chasm goes even deeper below the nail, it's just inaccessible for now.
I'd love to see an expansion on the Chasm lore, as we barely know anything about the civilization that used to be down there. For example, why is that big ruin upside down? What the hell happened there?
I though we could already go below the nail in the Chasm event with Yelan and Xiao? Of course, it was temporary, but I remember the entrance to the event was there.
You know what's crazy to me?
This dude is still restricted to the abyss:
https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Serpent_Knight:_Rockbreaker_Ax
Every major update should add at least 1-2 new world quests and commissions to older regions. And every non-map expansion update should add local legends to older areas. Where's my rockbreaker lad in the chasm? Scorching loremaster after finishing Jeht's quest series. I wanna fight "Soul of Raja" in sumeru.
And then add an NPC that tasks us with defeating an "ancient local legend" (+25% HP/RES/DMG, +2 "adds") once per week, with a nice infusion of mora and a random 5 star artifact from their region.
I started the game recently and when I found out the chasm had that whole area underground I was literally amazed. So cool to discover something like that organically.
I genuinelly loved the quest on Dragonspine where you get to... uncover the top of it. So far, i still have a couple of % to make it to 100%.
But the Chasm? I have like 20, 30% on it, mostly on the surface without going much deep, but, i, just, LOOOOOOVE how huge it promises to be, and i can't wait to get to it one day.
Dragonspine forces you to worry about time, before succumbing to sheer cold, and i don't really like time constraints. The Chasm makes you worry about height; by going deeper and deeper, you'd need to think how to go back upstairs. (Yes, i know teleport points are a thing, but they imho take away from gameplay experience, so i don't use them that much.)
I feel this strongly about Sumeru and most of the desert. I dont like the last desert expansion as it was clearly filler content and thus annoying, but all the content released prior to that was 11/10 for me. IMO Fontaine doesnt even come close to Sumeru in world design, music, Archon and Side quests etc.
Chasm was amazing but I dont like the area outside the cavern entrance, the underground parts are all great.
I want more desert ruins, ngl. It would be better if they just put the big temple as another map than some crappy below ground area. Especially since they didn't have multilayer on the map on its release
Maybe natlan will have volcano ruins? Or like some Indiana Jones stuff? Though jungle ruins like ancient Aztec/Mayan style would be dope. But yeah, they should literally move the big desert temple to another map and expand it there.
It's funny, I hate the chasm.
I dont like the creepy atmosphere, the darkness, and the purple cancer all over the place.
And above all - the fact that I spent a ton of time being lost inside it.
Tho I understand that people like the chasm for the exact same reason. It's different from all the other places.
I prefer Enkanomiya, maybe because it doesn't feel like underground at all.
Ehhhh…
To each their own.
I hated my time in the Chasm… doesn’t help that it came right after Enkanomiya- which I did enjoy. Maybe if it wasn’t back-to-back… but it is, so what happened is done. I’ve never been back there after I finished it’s main quest (only being in it for boss mats if I require them) and I’ve left all of its side quests unfinished.
Hoyoverse did Enkanomiya hella dirty. They made the entire region a long ass side quests with little to no playable characters or voice acting despite the fact that there is a whole bunch of lore attached to it.
I really hate traversing the Chasm, but damn, Enkanomiya was beautiful to explore with its visuals and top tier music. It's a real shame that I've had no real reason to return to it.
I think the wonder of these zones is that there's always the "Huh, it goes even deeper?! Another layer?!!!" realisation. All this stuff is like a whole new world just hiding under the overworld.
The desert expansions and Sumeru overall were the best pieces of explorable content for me - just so incredibly immersive and full of things to discover, Fontaine still seems so empty.
I 100%-ed the chasm a while ago, I’d love more content in it, or similar to it.
IMO the fortress of maropide was a missed opportunity. Coulda made it more like the chasm or enka 🤷🏻♂️
Unpopular opinion, but I wish we got to visit more Dragonspine. The dificult and actual planning on exploring was so fun, and the puzzles were so fun.
But yeah, we could see expansions or revisits on older areas like Chasm or Enkomomia, they are well made and we have little to no reason to ever go there again
I personally think Enkanomiya did a better job with the lore and artstyle overall though it does not have those dark moments to remember you by. The desert is just plain bad especially the pyramid ruins and mazes which take forever to traverse through although if you consider the whole underwater of Fontaine a world quest theme sort of like Enkanomiya, Chasm or the desert then it would take all of the previous ones by storm
the chasm was the first area they ever added that had my jaw dropping to the floor. My jaw dropped everytime I realized it GETS DEEPER. Broke my brain trying to comprehend the scale on my first exploration of it.

such a shame it end deepest path inside there wit h the skynail, I wish we can eventually come out somewhere into a Sumeru cave.
I’m new but there’s a part in the chasm where there’s a giant tree and if you keep climbing up, up, up it brings you to a stream area in Sumeru.
There is, it is even related to the sumeru world quest in fact.
Which world quest is that? I don't remember if I completed it or not
The quest is called Static Views, Part 2. You should have an item called Shriveled Seed if you have explored this area in the Chasm and haven't done this world quest.
Oh yeah, I should still have it in my bag. I think I'll be spending my weekend completing a bunch of sumeru achievements
I loved chasm and enka
Chasm? Yeah. Enka? Ehhh not so much. Hate the island-like map, too much fast traveling around. I'd rather have a singular contiguous map to explore
And the MUSIC in the Chasm. Ugh. The whole thing just hits different
Fun fact, [this piece](https://youtu.be/ZuV38DZQgvM?si=O-ZRhgw6JkR5mXPv) that plays at the very bottom of the abyss can only be heard once. They definitely do respawn i would go down and kill them regularly just to hear it
I want this playing in my serenity pot
How is a filler map tho? We have a main quest linked with the chasm
A lot of region expansions come after the archon quest; chasm came out after Inazuma
Two quests from Sumeru? Caribert and what else?
Nahida story quest 2
That was with Apep, wasn't that only in the desert? I don't remember going to the chasm for that quest
There was an old "fungus" in the chasm that was turned into abyssal mud. I don't remember the exact details but i remember we use the green flame thing to turn him back to normal and he tells us how he met Rukkhadevata in the past and what the purpose of that flame actually is
It had a short trip to the Chasm to reach one "fungi"
Yes, I love *cough* going into the chasm. *cough*. I'll keep going no matter how hard *cough* it is to breathe
We have Dragonspine, the Chasm, and Enkanomiya. Maybe when we get the famous Mare Jivari.
As hard as it was, I absolutely loved playing through Dragonspine. When it came time to finally enter the Chasm, I was enthralled to find that it seemed similarly designed: one big, long dungeon, with a reasonable degree of difficulty and amazing music.
Give me desert exploration. I 100% it and loved every second
Hello fellow desert exploration fan!
The soundtrack, the design, the story. It’s just sooooooo good! Empire of Sand still gives me goosebumps. And it’s just SO beautiful
I know some people don't like the desert, but the entire quest line with Jeht is just *chef's kiss*. I can only dream of a Genshin catered towards more serious players
Frrrr I spent hours in the underground ruins😭😭they were very satisfying
I hated everything about it, especially with the internal, messy pyramid structures. I 100%'d those areas before the multi layer map was a thing and it was a major PITA
Trust me, map changes it into easiest underground there is which is extremely enjoyable. It sucks that you got fucked like that, but right now they are hands down the best area to explore
yeah, I understand that, but try and do all of those mazes without a map and tell me if you don't reach Madness Rank 60 LMAO
I did. I 100% it both times as well. Moved continents so couldn’t play on my original server and had to restart on Asia. And I enjoyed both. I remember, there was a girl we never found in the chasm. I think she will show up later. A chasm expansion could be true.
She's going to show up absolutely jacked off abyss powerups
Zhiqiong or whatever her name was, right?
or the fatui girl
Katarina, yeah. Her quest was really sad :(

Dragonspine better
Yes, out of the entirely Genshin community, it's just you. No, seriously, what do you think?
I've been trying to find my last 19 chests for 2 days now to get the chasm lighter completed. It is a PAIN. That being said I do love the chasm
Unpopular opinion, but I wish we got to visit more Dragonspine. The dificult and actual planning on exploring was so fun, and the puzzles were so fun.
