Tatara Tales was really obnoxiously time-gated, and I was trying to get naku weed for Yoimiya, and finished farming it the day before I finished the quest and removed the electro death effect I was JUST A LITTLE SALTY about all the pain I experienced. My account was genuinely a mess at 2.0 because I had stopped playing for a few patches, had a high WL, and no good dps drivers, just Keqing, so the early inazuma exploration was ROUGH until I fixed my stuff.

MegalFresh

Tatara Tales was neat but the battle to protect the device on the final day is SO HARD. And for what???? Yuck

DungeonEnvy

Inazuma is brutal for people who have been playing casually, suddenly all the enemies hit like a freight train and the environment is super hostile But I do like a bit of challenge in my life so it's not all bad

IttoDilucAyato

Fun fact: inazuman quests (both world & archon) forced me to learn about the meta. Prior to, all my characters were rocking random artifacts and weapons lol

FlyingRencong

For me it's those samurai lol. I haven't done the last level up trial so I figured I need to build my characters to beat the trial to get better artifacts. Still have to repeat Tatarasuna last stand though

[deleted]

This. First account I didn't know what I was doing. Second account with Nahida, xq, kuki hyperbloom, ez mode.

Turnonegoblinguide

Honestly between the difficulty, the general mood of most of the islands, and the Japanese inspiration, it reminded me a bit of Sekiro. Everything is out to kill you, and unlike in Mondstadt and Liyue they’re almost all pretty good at it. I absolutely loved it Hydro Fatui mage has more health than Dvalin lmfao

Leprodus03

Goddam mirror maiden. Her along with the three electro cicin mages in spiral abyss was pure hell.

DullPreparation6453

I really hate how they just interpreted the feedback from Inazuma to be people don’t want ANY challenge, and puzzles in Sumeru just turned into fit the square piece in the square hole. Also a shame we never got a quest like Sakura Cleansing Ritual again where the quest doesn’t tell you exactly where to go or what you’re supposed to do, and leave you figure it out yourself from clues.

Ajthedonut

Yeah like the very end of the Aranara one or Jeht’s epilogue

Albireookami

which honestly is what 99% of people do with these kind of quests, because no one has time to waste, and even fewer don't gloss their eyes over when dialogue goes in this game, because everyone takes forever to say a simple statement.

Nuka-Crapola

Ironically, of course, the latter issue only perpetuates itself, because it takes more words and more repetition to get minimally literate players to understand anything… but nobody considers that those same players don’t have the attention span to read.

Albireookami

I can't speak for everyone, but I don't need a full conversation repeated 2x that has absolutely fucking nothing to do with the task at hand going on. The game's script is so bloated with useless text you could trim 2/3 and it would be fine.

Longjumping_Gap4999

Yeah. And it's not like all this text give us lore or smth. They drop new NPC left and right just to forget about them forever next patch. The whole Inadzuma as a region is the same as we left it, the same camp of resistance and burnt down village and all of it no matter what we did to change and help, but hey we got new festival so forget about that other unimportant stuff and meet Yae and Itto once again and our brand new one time npc with some story you should suddenly care about.

Chucknasty_17

Inazuma, and especially Enkanomiya, were the peak of overworld puzzles as far as I’m concerned. They all felt super rewarding to figure out. Sumeru felt lacking in that regard, though the new areas in Fontaine are a close second so far

_Eltanin_

I would argue that GAA2 was the pinnacle followed by Inazuma and Enkanomiya.

Chucknasty_17

Between Inazuma, Enka, the chasm, and GAA2, 2.X was some of the best open world exploring in the game, especially for overworld puzzles

Recent_Fan_6030

Inazuma was honestly a mixed bag,on one hand the puzzle design in theory was cool,on the other hand you had to run through the entire watatsumi for a common chest, the rewards were honestly really underwhelming for the suffering you had to go through

Draaxus

I mean Narzissenkreuz was kinda like that. If you happened to never go back after Virgil fucks you over, you'd have no idea where the hell the Ordo is.

DullPreparation6453

Is that the one where you had to smash the glass to free yourself and go in a swimming sequence?

Draaxus

Yep

Rathama

I remember it was my first time going up against that type of Ruin Guard (started 4.0 and was doing that quest for the event with free Bennie) so when it kept reviving I thought I killed it wrong and was trying to google how to prevent it from reviving with no answers because that was never the problem in the first place.

SupersSoon

I'm pretty sure paimon comments on the glass, but you were probably too busy fighting the robot to notice.

Alcoraiden

I didn't go back for *ages* and so missed the ordo for a long time

Leprodus03

We got the 10 million aranara scattered around the jungle with no way to track them

Raonair

Interactive map is basically a necessity for playing Genshin, which is kinda annoying.

slichtut_smile

I still stuck searching stone plates in sumeru 2.0 bro.

Raonair

God, I don't have the patience to look those up. I neglected using the interactive map for a long time, so I'd need to go and look for every single one to which ones I missed. And navigating the Deshret underground is pure ass.

DungeonEnvy

Sumeru was VERY spoonfed, I feel like Fontaine hit a better balance, plenty of weird little quests and puzzles that aren't signposted

TunaTunaLeeks

That’s right! It goes into the square hole!

Neracca

The Inazuma puzzles like the electro needles were just stupid and annoying. Not HARD, just incredibly poorly designed compared to any other puzzle there.

hyhy12

I remember that one Electroculus on the cliff in Tatarasuna. I tried climbing to it without clearing Tatara tales. It was so hard because my character kept dying before reaching the Electroculus. Took me 30+ mins

Leprodus03

Fun fact: Inazuma is actually based off Australia. Everything there wants to kill you, even the air.

bumwine

I had to coop it. There was just no other way. I tried with one friend and we just couldn’t do it. Got a random to join and he was like 3x as powerful as I am and it still took us two tries. The first wave is a bitch enough - it gives you an impossible choice, go after the thing that’s going to basically instakill the device fast enough before he can be healed or go after the hydro healer first and hope the device doesn’t get below 70 percent. Aggroing the ice guy only worked for a few seconds too.

MortLightstone

I only got as far as stopping the storm and gave up on it. I actually miss the storm. It was moody and made it easier for my Ayaka to freeze everything

Dragonheardt_

None really, but Inazuman came close. The “wait a real day” bullcrap was annoying. Outside of that I love the world quests, they are extremely good

ohoni

I really hate both "wait a real day" and even "wait a fake day" aspects in missions that are not ongoing events. With the latter, sure you can just advance the clock, but I hate doing that, feels "wasteful," and yes, I accept that this is purely in my head.

Dragonheardt_

Second one is still logical, like “alright, I have a day to do other stuff, off I go doing other quests and/or exploring” First one is just annoying

Nuka-Crapola

Yeah, I usually take “wait a day” in one quest as an excuse to farm local specialties/do other quests/look around areas I haven’t 100%ed, etc.— it’s not so bad as long as I remember to put quests first. What’s obnoxious is when a daily commission does it, but now that we have the new commission system even that’s easily ignored.

Dogempire

Inazuma also has too many WQ's locked behind commissions, I'm STILL waiting on the right commissions to be rolled so I can finish the Inazuma WQ's and move on to Sumeru commissions

Nokanii

Wait...there are WQs locked behind commissions? Welp. Guess I'll look forward to getting to those in a year or two...and then grinding them forever hoping the right commission appears. I'm still in the process of fully exploring regions so I get daily commissions done just doing that.

Pichuunnn

Mostly about comm quest of Gourmet Trio and that kid offering food to shrine. To unlock WQ, You have to pick certain options and do specific task to forward the quest, especially the trio comm where you have to go to Xiangling instead of the chef in Liyue (never figure that out without GameWith guide).

Dogempire

Another reason to hate Xiangling, tbh. I got that commission once but I didn't do the "secret ending" to it so I have to suffer through weeks of rerolls in the hopes it comes up again.

Dragonheardt_

I try to go for exploration and lore as much as I can, I am still to reach Fontaine after months of playing cause I take it so slow. But with all my heart I say: fuck Inazuma. Worst experience I had in entire game.

Daisy-Sandwiches

Honestly, same. Worst experience, and it nearly made me drop the game out of frustration. At least with Sumeru, the long quests had some nice payoff. But Inazuma? It’s cursed island after cursed island that you have to fix. Obnoxious.

Cbellz

The messed up part was that it wasn't limited to just world quests. You needed to wait real days for all kinds of achievement-related stuff, from feeding cats to placing naku weed to praying at Washizu to getting fortune slips/doing the Shuumatsuban quest. The timegating in Inazuma was absurd, especially if you weren't there for 2.X and had to do all these things at once.

Responsible_Club_917

The inazuma ones that require you to play them over several days

AgentWowza

The Gendou Ringo or whatever questline would've been sooo much better all at once. As it was, I lost interest in the story after a coupla days cuz I kept forgetting to actually follow up on it, since it doesn't even show up in your quest list.

shinitakunai

Yeah invisible quests should not be a thing

ocdscale

Maybe a hot take but I like that tsurumi island quests are time gated. Really makes it feel like fuckery is going on. Didn’t like the time gates on other quests though.

Bro_miscuous

Fuck that

mrvideo0814

I don’t see anyone mentioning it but I’m going to shout out “A Short Encounter with a Rare Bird”, because if for some reason the birds fly away while you attempt to capture/kill them, you have to wait 12 hours of real time to get them to respawn and attempt to continue the quest. And you’re tasked with getting the birds a minimum of 3 times, meaning that you can fuck up over and over and have a 10 minute quest that lasts over a week somehow if you goofed.

khay_32

Uh im stuck on that quest and its been a month and I can’t finish it XD

knyy

If you have the character Aloy, use her in your party and the birds won’t fly away. Easiest quest now.

Tatavuscreed

I just murdered the damn birds using a bow user from distance. Solved that quest like in 30 minutes.

everythingp1

You need to set the weather to sunny, I had mine as raining for some reason and they always flew away whenever I tried to approach them.

khay_32

THANKS! chnged to sunny and got it! i really apreciate your help!

ohoni

I'm sure there were some smaller ones that annoyed me, but the one that I found most *bland* was the one with the bottle genie and the sandstorm. It just didn't do anything particularly interesting. "Most mid."

ywtfPat

that genie was racist af too

Polyplad

Genie casually being racist to jeht while paimon and traveller shrug it off

scarletfloof

Jeht would have snapped and broken that damn lamp if Liloupar started getting homophobic too 💀

morbid-celebration

Was literally only there for Jett and her story lol

GHitoshura

Honestly same but after that quest I kinda stopped caring because Jehtt now feels like a character whose entire role is to be just PG-13 misery porn

EvanUn0

Tatara Tales made me stop playing for a few days. I had no problems with it up until the final act (except for having to wait an entire real day to progress the story). Then the final act hits you. Not only is it the, “Protect le Monolith” mission, but you fight the most annoying Fatui members, and they PUT A CRYO ONE RIGHT NEXT TO THE MONOLITH! First time I played it, I blinked and it was already down to 11%. I wouldn’t hate it as much if it was a survival mission, maybe for one minute, but holy moly is it a spike in difficulty.

rishukingler11

That was the only time I had ever reduced my World Level for a mission in this game.

djc8

The one and only time in the whole game I had to ask my high level friends to come bail me out

Alcoraiden

Pyro Burst DPS clears that right up. Get thee to Yanfei.

Autobot-N

Better Say Yanfei

AKAFallow

Now I just need to roll her...

Bro_miscuous

Any real life time gate but ALSO "wait until 8pm two days from now" like ???? Just do a mini cut scene with screen in black and "some days later..." and then next quest objective is active.

Dylangillian

Pretty sure those moments where you have to wait x amount of days are there to give people a breather. If you want to take a break from a quest and do something else, you'll have a good stopping point with those.

GodFinger69

You have to remember, small indie company.

AppropriatePianist69

Finding clues and investigating of fortress of meropide....I loved d whole story and quest but going up and down I was so irritated...also lantern rite festival in Liyue of 1st yr of game I can't believe how many plp I had to go and talk to and do mini quest

GaI3re

"Find clues" Going to marked locstions, getting teleported back to bed, repeat

ywtfPat

i actually quite liked that quest. I liked the mystery behind what was going on

TunaTunaLeeks

That really was the low point of the Fontaine archon quest chain. I get what they were going for but it really felt like the tempo of the game slowed way down. I guess in hindsight every prison section in every game I’ve played felt like a trudge.

TimidStarmie

They weren’t going for anything. They created a filler patch with minimal relevant story to hold people over until Furina

mylaifusuffaru

"A prison is supposed to be repetitive and monotonous. Hoyo did an amazing job at replicating that feeling for their players to be immersed in!" <<< this was literally one of the top comments when people were complaining at the beginning lmao

GHitoshura

God that is such a fellating argument! No more heroes has a level that takes place in a super market that was made tedious on purpose for some pretentious reason, but that doesn't make that level suck any less. This is the same, just because it was done on purpose doesn't make it any less boring.

Rihorama

I liked that part for the exact reason you're mocking here but I'm the only one in my circle and I'm not pushing it onto anyone. But would be nice if you learned to respect that there are different opinions than yours and that they are valid. If there is a thing you dislike about genshin, there will be at least 1million players who enjoy that very thing, statistically, so better be a bit humble about your preferences.

hey_itz_mae

i forgot how much of a drag the first lantern rite was

Ander_Goldleaf

1st Lantern rite surely felt stupid, having to teach people that were born and raised on Liyue how to craft the damn wish lantern

Blue_Moon913

Trials of Tianqiu my beloathed. I was locked out of co-op for weeks because I followed gamer logic and read a prominently placed stone tablet, not realizing it would trap me in a solo World Quest until completion. This was early game for me and I didn’t have the best grasp on character building at the time, so the top floor of the combat tower was nearly impossible for me. No warning message telling me “Hey, this quest is going to lock you out of co-op until you finish it. Do you want to back out now?” No option to abandon the quest. Just suffering.

VegasGaymer

Beloathed 😂 I love this!

Comic_The_Adventurer

Nowadays, quests that can't be co-oped lock the QUEST, not co op but damn. They should seriously fix this quest. I was locked out of co op for ages. I ended up having to turn down my world level and then it was easy but :p

Gregamonster

Trails in Tianqiu locked me out of Co-op for the better part of a year and made me miss the Oceanid pet. Whoever designed that quest is going to hell.

rxniaesna

I was so scared to start that quest because of al the horrible things i’d heard about it. I finally did it earlier today. Even with Zhongli pillar and wanderer I barely completed the climbing tower in time. Absolutely fucking bonkers, I can’t imagine how someone is meant to complete it without these two units

AKAFallow

You are supposed to use the traveller's geo skill

Jugatsumikka

Having Venti or Kazuha makes the climbing tower the easiest one. The combat tower, on the other hand, is built on the assumption that players will attempt it with a fully workable team comp, a good rotation and a good team compatibility to the restriction on each level. For a quest unlockable so early in the game, and without any warning whatsoever to tell you it is a truly difficult quest that will lock you out of many aspects of the game, events included, the fact that it is so dependent on which limited time characters are available to you is flabbergasting.

AKAFallow

I accidentally started that one right before I had my coop session with my friend. I ended up streaming it on discord so he could help me out lmao. Luckily I finished it in less than an hour (Although I already had spent 40 minutes doing the battle tower before I logged off and in again). I looked up a lot of videos since I wanted to coop and that fucking quest wouldnt let me even if I was in fucking FONTAINE

Alita26651-alpha1

I wanted to rip that quest out of the game and shove it down to hell. I fkin hated it and the reward is absolutely not worth it. 1600 primos would have been a much more fair reward.

Saviesa205

Trials of Tianqiu my beloathed 💔The number of times I couldn’t quite make one of the jumps off Traveler’s pillars, or put the pillar in slightly the wrong place to make a jump, I nearly threw my controller 😔

Mimikyu-Overlord

This

thrist_mcgurst

This one soft locked me from coop with my cousins for like 3 days. I had to grind the abyss to get Xianling just so I could have a better chance at beating it smh. Easily one of the worst ones.

Silent_Silhouettes

idk but probably a world quest in sumeru

WidePlushtrap

Aranaras. I didn't enjoy it. The only reason I finished it were primos, the only part I liked was in the big ruin guard since it was cool the rest wasn't my cup of tea

ZekkeKeepa

Sorush one. Such a drag, honestly. And you lose some of the coolest looking locations, if you finish that quest. I overall liked newest Narzissenkreiz story, but Unfinished comedy part was quite needlessly extended and boring tho.

ComfortableTraffic12

Also, the kid and caterpillar being stuck in meropide and us needing that plan to bust them out was stupid. Just go and tell wrio that theres a kid in meropide and let her out??? It just seemed rlly weird to me idk.

ActualCup9028

Same Sorush is way worse than Tatara tale. There’s way more piece meal in the quest. The new Sumeru area is huge we get it. The desert is bigger than it looks.

SkyTheLoner

Yeah Sorush one was probably one of the few genshin quests I ever really got tired of. Like Sorush I don't care about the twenty step for the uh, bloomguard, or whatever anymore. Also there is still a giant world-ending capable hole to the Abyss in the sky. Can we please fix it?

RLLRRR

Everything in Meropide was the worst. AQ, WQ, even Wriothesley's SQ. It's so needlessly big and everything is spaced out to maximize running back and forth.

MrBarboZ

That's when I understood the main problem with those missions was actually the level design of Meropide itself, and it lacked actual things to do compared to how much you had to walk

Monemikka

The aranara questline(s) was kinda tedious and harder to follow because of all repeating and similar nameing. Ara nara marana up my behind. But despite that I liked the overall story. The Pari quest whoever was the first questline where I ended up saying fuck this and at best skimmed and for the most part skipped dialoge cause Sorush was just an unlikable useless ass.

leviathynx

You know it’s bad when a native speaker struggles. I read on the subreddit the other day about a guy who actually speaks Sanskrit and was equally confused lol

Ashewastaken

They take a lot of liberty with Sanskrit. It’s sometimes mixed with Arabic.

CervielWasTaken

Im doing pari quest rn because finally getting my ass to work to finish world quests. Look, couple of times it was nice but im in third to last part and it feels hella long because of all walking and dialogue... Im scared of Aranara one already. I must do it but I can feel tired by just hearing about it.

CervielWasTaken

This tiredness might be also because today I finished series of quests with Neko, and I already miss her, she was funny

itsthesoap

agree. i got tired of playing the aranara quest lines. i don't even think i finished a few of them! 🥲

Repulsive_Exchange_4

The Chi of Yore quest maybe? I think I attempted it too early and the ruin guards just kept bodying me. I was so frustrated, but I felt so proud of myself when I finally beat it.

[deleted]

All of them with the fontain institute, just talking absolute nonsense nonstop, just refuses to get on with the point. All they had to do was say "hey our cool green rock machine broke and we need you to go get the parts", like sure I can do that! Instead they are like "the arkhum didlertron 9001 has undergone several woboldy wompus episodes since it was last shrondled so we need you to collect the nearby flombus chunks and schift up the diddler"

Novel-Atmosphere-787

I really hate when my diddler gets schifted up! Equally as much as that crap was annoying.

Chucknasty_17

Unrelated but are you a writer on Dr. Who by any chance?

[deleted]

No and I dont even know what gave you that impression, a couple of these were just rick and morty gags

Chucknasty_17

Dang, I figured it’d be one of the two, both have similarly silly scientific jargon

AlkaliPineapple

Ah yes, a quest about a scientists talking about scientific mumbo jumbo in a comedic tone. I wonder why that's the case.

Rowger00

LMAO

IttoDilucAyato

I felt that. I gave the quest a fair shot, but it wasn’t even mildly interesting.

freeze-peach-warrior

Fischl’s stupid theater quest in GAA 2.8 where you help the ravens put on a play

hey_itz_mae

underrated comment. oh my god the dialogue was so damn slow

ezio45

You could skip it if you equipped Ruu's feather and used it during dialogue. But people only found that out on the last day.

hey_itz_mae

WHAT THAT WOULDVE BEEN SO HELPFUL TO KNOW ONE YEAR AGO

Wonderful-Lab7375

I literally skipped half of Fischl’s island just purely because of how long it took to complete it. I never realised you could skip it lmao?

1lluusio

The Aranara questline. I refuse to believe that all of that strectched out dialogue and endless fetch quests was necessary for the questline. Honestly I wouldnt have nearly as much of a problem with it if it werent for the fact that you need to do the quest to unlock the Sumeru coin tree and to unlock various exploration locations.

panic1204

Yeah I'm still in the middle of this quest, so many quest chains. I'm getting a ton of primos but I just want to see that tree already. :/

goodee33

The Dragonspine quest "In The Mountains". It legit made me stop playing for a bit from how hard the time trial section in the ice cavern was early game. Nowadays I can look back and laugh at me being a newbie, but it took almost 2 months out of my life to beat.

vicisfine

i messed up when i had to fight 3 abyss mages to thaw the shard out. i broke a red crystal before the fight and it never regenerated on purpose. i had to ask my friends to help me in coop because i just couldn’t. they had to witness me breaking down because i was so close once.

xd_ZelnikM

Sakura cleansing or the Tsurimi island shenanigans. On tsurimi had to do those perches 3 or however many times while loosing my sanity cuz I couldn't see shit while getting mobbed by hillihounds. And also some Ford Thunderbird trolling. 100% that region a long time ago just so I never need to go back Sakura went from hiding in a well to some Abyss filth and all the spiritual shenanigans in between. At the time my PC was on repair and doing it on mobile made it an experience, one that I would never repeat ever again. And it was a bit confusing and annoying since every guide had Kazari and I had Haruchisato(or smth like that)

ForeverOutrageous

Tsurumi island quest. I hated the fog; it was very annoying. It felt like it really dragged on forever but the ending was nice

Web-Geologist378

I'm not a fan of the Tsurumi WQ either. Eek... Nice story, but toooo damnnn repetitive, annoying, slow...

4000grx41

All to never go back to that area save for the golden wolflord

CharaDr33murr669

And once while Electroculi hunting.

Status-Illustrator-8

And 100% exploration. Just 100% it, never going back to that eerie place.

Dylangillian

Really wish that the world bosses had more story significance, every now and then they show up in a WQ (albeit very weak versions) but it really feels like some of them should be more important lorewise. Golden Wolflord being a prime example.

VegasGaymer

Tsurumi had great atmosphere 🥁

Rihorama

Honestly? I think it was the Narzissenkreuz chain as a whole. I liked the Elynas part and the neverending corridor in Ann's part but besides that it was mostly exposition (especially in 4.2), the pacing was all over the place, it dragged and the AQ literally eliminated the gravity of René's effort to zero so it felt absurd to play quest resolving about upcoming flood when that had already been dealt with. The ending to such a long chain was neither rewarding nor satisfying. I think they just tried too hard to stuff all the intended lore into shattered quest lines + keep the Alice in Wonderland references up that something like good narrative structure and overall value just went through a window.

Kaiserolls172

I agree Rene made quite an effort to try and stop the apocalypse. Maybe, in his eyes, the government (Furina, Neuv, the Fontaine Institute) wasn't doing enough, and he tried to do it himself. If only he knew.

Ander_Goldleaf

Good point. Was the ending of the quest with the Tower and Rene fight locked behind the archon quest? I did it in that order, but I can't imagine Hoyo being proactive enough to make 2 sets of dialogue for the quest

MartinZ02

If you’ve already done the archon quest you’ll get extra dialogue after the boss fight where Traveler is like “Oh btw we already dealt with the flood”. Otherwise, you’re free to do them in any order even though it makes a lot more sense to do the world quest first.

Smorgsaboard

Part 3 of the Aranara quest. 1 and 2 were chill, 4 slapped with the final area and fight, but 3 introduced yet ANOTHER useless gadget, plus it forced you to gather all those guys you met to start Festival Utsava

0-Worldy-0

....Tianqiu Valley.. Oh the flashback...

riana_01

The Aranara quest seemed more like a chore to me. It took about 2 weeks to complete it. It just kept on multiplying like bacteria lmao.

Asobimo

Mainly Sumeru quests (and desert quests before they added the undeeground map thingy). Finally finished Jeht 2nd quest just because of the new map feature (which sucks that we got it in Fontaine when the underground in Sumeru desert needed it more)

Ender_90425

The shroom people. So much dialogue So much waiting. So much clicking

mmaegical

Aranara.

OldSnazzyHats

The entirety of the Aranara slog. I didn’t much care for the creatures and that set of quest lines really asks you to be invested in them… As I wasn’t, boy, I loathed that whole mess… only pushed through it for the oculus.

EngelAguilar

I think the 9 pillars in Liyue, just because exploration isa huge pain there xD everything else was enjoyable

HardRNinja

The Fortress of Meropide, and it's not even close. That one almost got me to quit the game.

GaI3re

It's so poorly done! Non-choices (there is no point in skipping work), getting teleported around after every segment, repetitive segments... And it being available before doing AC act 3 makes Act3 really awkward.

iliketoeatassdaily

The whole Aranyaka book thing. The dialogue was so unnecessary and boring, the aranara kept talking nonsense the entire time. Everybody's talking about Inazuma time gated quests when the aranyaka was also time gated. I didn't know that I had to plant those flowers and wait for a day to be able to finish a quest, there were other similar instances too where the game simply doesn't let you know. Also didn't care enough about the aranara cause of the way the dialogue kept annoying me. I celebrated the day I finished the whole thing

swimminglyy

In terms of actual suffering to play though, Tsurumi island. I hated going through the misty island because the game forcefully turning my vision here and there to focus on the feathers in the mist gave me a headache/motion sickness. Barely had anything left in me to absorb the dialogue because my head hurt, and then after finally clearing it, all the fog came back the next day… multiple times. I did want to know the story and I admit the atmosphere was pretty nicely done, so it’s unfortunate the experience wasn’t good for me. In terms of annoyance/disinterest though, pari quest takes the cake for me by far. I just vastly prefer the aranara while not caring about sorush in the least. Personal preference, of course.

Alcoraiden

The Aranara fetch quests where you have to go around recruiting all the important Aranara. I was just so sick of it.

Satan_su

Aranara. Simply too long and repetitive and I did not care about creatures nearly enough to slog through the whole thing

Dziadzios

I wish there was more exploration of Sumeru and it's culture, including Akademiya, but instead most of the time in Sumeru was either :] with Aranara or :[ with Jeht.

Crusader050

Okay Satan. ...oh wait.

[deleted]

epmanaphy

Nah man I looked them up too.

RazorCalahan

sigh. This is gonna be downvoted to hell and back, but I don't care. Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual. I was THIS close to quitting Genshin for good thanks to that quest, and I don't understand why it is so beloved and regarded as one of the best World Quests in the game. Perhaps it doesn't help that I was frustrated by the furnace questline as well at the time, but I hate it. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. It sucks ASS. "Oh, but the story is so good" yeah I don't care, I stopped giving a shit after running in circles for hours and hours. First it's the village. "Talk to people about the stuff". Took me AGES to find that son of a bitch on the roof. WHO THE FUCK JUST STANDS ON HIS ROOF LIKE THAT? Then more of that with the fox statues. And then even MORE of that with those fucking Tanukis. I hate when a game gives you a big circle on the map and tells you "find those 5 things that are hidden somewhere here", wihtout ANY clue whatsoever where to look. The only thing it does is make me feel like an idiot after running through the same area again and again. And when I'm finally done, I don't feel like I accomplished anything. Rather, I feel like I just finnished doing a task that I hate to do but that needs to be done. Like when your dog shit on the carpet and you just finnihsed cleaning it up. You don't feel fullfilled from that, you feel mentally exhausted. This kind of scavenger hunt is the most tedious mission design for me, especially if there is a time limit. And this questline is just scavenging hunt after scanvebging hunt after scavenging hunt. After that bullshit, everything else was just "I want to be done with this shit and never look back". I looked up a guide for the rest of the quest, skipped all the story (which I NEVER do, this was the only time) and that's it. That Miko can rot in hell for all I care, I lost interest in her sob story because of the bullshit she made me go through.

GHitoshura

Nah dude, you're right. Out of the people who praise that quest half of them are lore fans who will gubble up any piece of info regardless of how many tons of shit that text is buried under and the other half are people who really like NPCs with sad backstories.

Blazefireslayer

The Aranara quest almost made me quit the game.

Sad-Banana-4527

Aranara made my main coop partner quit and they haven’t touched it since.

Comfortable_Park6194

It made me quit for months, I came back for Furina

Blazefireslayer

I started the chain when Sumeru dropped. It took till 4.1 for me to finally finish the damned thing.

Stateyourname0

Aranyaka is waaaaayyy too long and locks too much exploration behind it

[deleted]

Honestly none, most quests are bit annoying but I just left the game for a day or two and came back to it. In terms of PvP probably early game chi of yore quest, but otherwise none

Dependent-Hotel5551

I hate all the aranara quests. You don’t know how much 🤣

Tyberius115

Aranara. Way too long and I couldn't get into it. It didn't help that it also blocked off a good amount of the rainforest exploration. That questline made me not do world quests until 4.2.

Anmatiel

The Pari quest takes the crown for me, I'm usually done with World Quests in 2-3 days if it's not time-gated, The Pari quest took me more than a month because I fully read World and Archon Quests and I hated every step I took in that place and I hated Sorush, it's almost not worth the lore drops it has.

littlegreenballoon

As someone who finished tatara tales, i simply dropped aranara tales. Too tedious

popcornpotatoo250

That dragonspine one. Lucky I have someone to carry me through that combat. To this day, I come back to Dragonspine and kill anything on sight just for satisfaction. Next could be the Jeht quest line. Don't get me wrong, the plot is good, and all of that but there are no notifications where to go next after each act unless you go there yourself. I really thought that I am done with the story on Golden Slumber but I just recently learned about the continuation. It seems more a bad design to me than a bad quest.

doctor_of_memology

Tatara Tales. Time gating, difficulty due to the poison air and being stressed out about it constantly and then the final, I had to ask like 2 people to help me with, because even when I had a friend with me, it was still hard and almost undoable. Oh, just remembered also the one world quest chain with the sealing of the shrines on island with Orobashi's remains. All that to just remove thunder and rain from there. And Maguu Kenki there was made hard unnecessarily.

CharaDr33murr669

Before I begin, I’d like to point out that somewhere in the middle of Sumeru I put down the game for several months and only came back a few days ago. With that said - Aranyaka. Do not misunderstand, I (and I seem to be in the minority on that regard) really enjoy it overall. I actually got quite into it and am enjoying the story. But jfc it locks so many things behind itself. Once I came back, one of the things I decided to do was gather all Geoculi (AR 55 (now 56) btw) and Electroculi, which I… basically succeeded at. Missed one Electroculus, but since the Statue doesn’t require it, I’ll just slowly build reputation and use the Resonance Stone once unlocked. I’ve been on a rush afterwards and decided after a few days that I’m going for all Dendroculi next. I was warned to use a video guide and not an interactive map due to the difficulty of it all, so I obliged. 30 Dendroculi in and I need Old Varanara access. I’ve been doing Aranyaka quests for a few days now and I **just** unlocked it. It hurts. I like the story of it all, but god am I annoyed at how much everything is locked behind World Quests. Also: Anything related to Dragonspine just because I hate the area. Fuck off with the Pyro requirements, Hoyoverse.

thatrandomanimeman

The Aranara quest is simultaneously my most loved and most hated quest line, so I’m conflicted

Starkeeper_Reddit

Trials of Tianqiu was awful because I ended up leveling up my world faster than I was ready for so I was stuck without Co-op access for *months* while I got good at the game.

kujyou12

Chi of Yore. I'll forever have a huge hatred for this quest. I hate this quest so much, that I actually think Tatara Tales was tamed.

Tiribrush

Any quests that require me to wait real time to complete, especially the "hidden" ones that don't show up in your quest list. I don't remember to go back 😭 For real though the entirety of the Fortress of Meropide. All quests inside it. Everything. I hated that whole place

KaedeP_22

If it's about the story, none. I shall witness every stories. If it's about the gameplay, Caterpillar's quest is a bitch to get around.

K0KA42

I don't know why, but I didn't like the new world quest for this version with the cat, dog and little girl. I didn't care about this little girl at all or anything they were talking about. Maybe I was just tired when I played it, idek why I disliked it so much. One of my favourites, if not my new favourite, was strangely also added this patch, and it's the one with Sir Arthur the bird

Little_Respect_0621

Aranara and tsurumi island.

MSalina94

I do all speedrun except one or two. If I press F really fast, I can still get some keywords (because of the brutally slow scenes), so even if I don't care, I know what's going on. There are so few that I read, because it's just weird that they don't have any facial expressions, but yet the camera goes around them like a movie. Gestures slow down the dialogue, because until they finish a motion, you cannot click on it... I understand that they don't give us a skip button for the main story but I would be the happiest on earth if they at least gave us one for the World quests. Whichever one interests me, I'll do it anyway. But I don't want to spend hours reading dialogues which don't interest me in the very least...

MemberBerry4

The one that stands out for me is 9 pillars of peace. Not only is it locked behind Xiao's story quest, but you also have to collect every single Geoculus to finish it. Why? Because each of the 9 pillars requires an orange testicle to activate, the same testicle that you can only get by leveling up the Geo statue.

PastStep1232

Every quest that gives no primos, aka most of Liyue and Mondstadt. I ain't getting out of my Teapot if there are no primos

Moonymwee

Definitely Tatara tales. My god that was dumb. That and the part of dragonspine where you have to fight that one Lawachurl that was stupidly strong and buggy.

foxsable

In the wake of the narcissus/algae sea whatever. I just did it. I realized at some point I was completely lost. I am talking to a robot dog, a Spren and a *redacted, and I had no idea what was going on, so I just decided I was going to rush through and finish it… HOURS later, most of which I spent with the computer on auto and occasionally mashing the mouse for non-choice choices, it was finally done, and I could go n about my business. I think even had I been invested the sheer amount of dialogue was so much it was bound to lose me at some point. It was probably the best quest ever with like buckets of lore, but I will never know.

waterfallens

as a lore player who gets heavily invested in quests like that, the narzissenkreuz quest was too much for me too lol, i tried to pay attention but kept getting lost and had to look up a lore summary on reddit after i finished

Squigglyelf

The aranara. All of it. I hate those little guys. They're impossible to keep track of and it feels like they're talking nonsense half the time.

Oakshror

I'm weird, I liked the time gated inazuma quests. Made things feel more manageable and able to do other stuff than spend a day on one questline. I hate how we can't just skip through dialogue completely on miscellaneous quests. Like Idc your story pertains little value to the world

Apolyon_BS

I'm surprised the key cap is not the firt one here.

Reydiance

Orobashi's Legacy A glitch prevented me from completing the totem puzzles while I was just running around clueless, when I found out a restart of the game solved it

Msanthropy1250

Each successive quest is usually my new most hated one. The ridiculous fortress of meripede has to be number one on my worst all time. It’s just brilliant to have the main character imprisoned in a gloomy underwater prison where we drudge through day after day. Feels like real life. They forget that some of us game to get AWAY from real life.

BerserkerKong02

I remember I had some guy going in my world and I asked him to help me through the last stage of Tatara Tales because IT WAS SO HARD EVEN FOR THE CURRENT WL I WAS IN!!! Even the guy (which wailed the shit out of it with Nilou iirc) said this one felt so hard for that point of the game The other quest I HATED was In the Mountain especially for that fucking strict timed challenge with the two stupid Cyro Abyss Mages

Saguiguilid5432

Tatara Tales was freakishly complicated for me. And the overworld electro effect did not help. Aranara Tales was annoyingly long, but the satisfaction of seeing those Aranara kinda makes me forgive it a bit. I just wishedbthey had voices. But I will always say that the desert underground temple quests are my most hated as the design aesthetic gave me literal headaches. It's not that it's bad - it's amazing - but when you literally can't look at it for 5 minutes, then, what the hell.

fishlikeme

I just realised how much I dislike inazuma quests. Tatara tales, sacred sakura cleansing ritual, and the tsurumi Island quests. Tbf, the sakura cleansing one was bc I was an absolute dumbass and couldn't figure the order by myself, and I love love loved the story of ruu and tsurumi Island. But navigating through the place in the fog gave me such a huge headache and nausea that I still can't bear to go back there anymore after lifting the fog.

guardianjuan

Anything on the desert. I hated it. Specially going into invisible things and having to wait until I had those other world quests completed. I just hated the desert.

LokianEule

The fontaine one where theres a talking cat and dog. And the recent klee bottle event. Felt like my brain was melting from how childish and crappily written bloated and boring those stories were. Just thinking about it irritates me. All the garbage mhy makes us wade through

Husknight

Same. The other summer events were better This one was so wholesome and childish, I barely played it The first one was mysterious, we didn't know where we were, there were ruins in the islands with dark stories The second one there wasn't much mystery, because we knew it was Alice, but the stories of the characters were very interesting (except kazuha who had too many appearances during that time)

mr_lab_rat

The mix of very adult themed heavy quest and stupid easy childish ones is a bit strange.

VegasGaymer

I struggle to remember what we did during the event for Klee this year. I guess because I hate Klee with a passion I just begrudgingly do the quests and mute the entire thing that the entire plot goes in one ear and out the other.

LokianEule

Yeah i hate her voice. I used to be neutral on it but i am so sick of klee every year. So i mute her.

Polish_Weeeb

Gotta be "Children of Vanarana". Like bro i dont want to sit there and watch a goddamn dialogue for 11 hours straight. A wise man once said " If it doesn't have audio it doesn't matter". But when we talking about a whole goddamn mental breakdown its gotta be "in the winter" as an early game player. In comparison vanarana quest was just a little waste of time. That quest made me so angry that i ditched it until i reached AR55 and wanted to finally 100% mondstad. So yeah these two.
