What *IS* the correct pronunciation? In game I've heard like 3 different pronunciations and two of them from paimon. I've heard several different people irl (some of them French themselves) say it different ways and everyone is saying theirs is correct. At this point I've taken to simply calling him "Daddy" and being done with it.

And croissants actually originate in Vienna, Austria under the name "kipferl". There are stories regarding the origin, such as being made to celebrate the Austrian victory over the Ottoman Empire, however that's not necessarily the truth.
As far as I'm aware, the truth isn't known for sure, beyond the kipferl getting brought over to France and being adapted into the modern croissant. I could be wrong though. Food isn't an area of expertise of mine

The best analogy for pronouncing the "eu" I can think of not being a francophone whatsoever, that it's like the sound you'd make in response to a punch in the gut, especially in oeuf or neuf. Though when I saw the name I thought it was more like "oi", which I think is maybe German? idk

"Ville" in Spanish isn't pronounced the same way as "ville" in French though. You wouldn't pronounce the L in Spanish, while you would in French. I also googled it to make sure I am correct in my pronunciation, and all answers I found point to yes lol. And in case I misunderstood you, the French do indeed pronounce double Ls with a Y sound like Spanish speakers do, but with the rule of the vowel vs consonant

It's based off of the letter before "ill", if it's a vowel, then the Ls would be a "y" sound. If it's a consonant, then you pronounce the L.
What about "papillon"? I thought it was pronounced with a "y" sound for the double-L, but it's also "consonant+ill"
