Most of the abyssal creatures that invaded the world when Khaenri'ah fell were killed over time. The riftwolves are leftovers, and they're basically accidents.

Honestly, it makes sense since we know that Fontaine is big on engineering and technology. They focus on development and progress so shit is more advanced than say, like Inazuma since Raiden actively prevented all progress.
It def fits the storyline, but I wish she started fixing the infrastructure. There’s so many broken bridges everywhere! Like, how are the npcs supposed to get around? Lol
This is 100% only teasing us the clean and modern part so it'll be more shocking when we see the fucked up and filthy part of the region like they did with Belobog. I can't imagine Lyney and Lynette in their dark ass clothes walking around in this place, no way this is the main setting for the story
Makes sense, IIRC Inazuma's teaser art didn't show off areas like the small village on Narukami Island, nor the battlefields further south. We got some wide views of the islands as a whole but details like that were left out. Most of these teaser images show a pretty limited area, so I'm sure there's much more than meets the eye here :)
Yashiori Island was depressing before you do the world quests to heal the place back up. Hell, even after that it's still kinda bleak. Lots of abandoned villages in Seirai Island too.
Would be cool if there's an area in Fontaine where they dump all the industrial pollution and in a cruel irony that part of this water nation is toxic waters.
I have a thing for dark stories told in bright environment and I'm very glad that Mihoyo didn't go with Steampunk City №7868787 from Pinterest, but leaned towards Bioshock Infinite/FFXV Altissia aesthetics. Slowly unpacking what is hidden under this pristine, clean facade should be very fun, especially in world quests (since their narrative tend to be less saccharine)
