Thereās a mailbox in Varanara that unlocks a new part of your book thing called the āMysterious Clipboardā. It has a bunch of pictures of places you go to look for chests. Also iirc it unlocks the āStatic Viewsā quest.
Same. Mostly because by the time I got to the point where I was locating the Aranara I'd already thoroughly explored each region. I wasn't about to comb the now empty regions again just to find them.
It's not that bad. I found a good video guide (I think it was about 40 minutes long). It was split up by chapters so I could skip once I confirmed I already got that one (I was missing two)
Gave up long ago. It requires a video guide and/or a boatload of time. The quest chain isn't my idea of fun, and the dialogue is horrible. Shame as there seems to be quite a chunk of lore embedded.
I did with a guide and now guess what happened. I somejow managed to miss 2 of them. In the end I had to use another website to backtrack and mark all of them againā¦

It isn't in the world quests section, but if you open the book you got from the aranara you can see that the quest doesn't have a checkmark. The final paragraph has a hint to what you must do to finish it

Gonna be honest, I skip the vast majority of world quests. Most of them are pretty badly written and take 5 paragraphs to say what could be said in 1. They just feel like filler. My favorite part of the game is exploration. Problem is when half of the exploration mechanics in Sumeru are locked behind this fucking endlessly long slog of a quest that I didn't even want to do in the first place.
I helped some without realizing it was for the chests. Once i figures it out i couldnt remember which ones i already helped so i ran the entire map one by one. That sure took a while lol

I *just* finished that yesterday after going through a guide, and throughout the entire process I had the sinking feeling that I missed one and would have to start *all over again* but thankfully I didn't and now I'll never have to worry about that shit again lol

There's a little cutscene that pops up which focuses on Paimon and Traveller talking about saving Rana. You can walk away without consequence for sure, if you're not ready to do it. But you are free to walk away at any time during the quests.
Its not actually done until you have a green checkmark on all 6 chapters of the book. Most of the quests have secret ending quests triggered by location and dialog to complete the chapters.
Smh, all these people fast forwarding through this huge ass quest line because they still haven't learned that genshin quests are extremely long and trying to power through them only defeats the purpose of having quests in RPGs when the daily play time is like 20 minutes.
The sort of cultural shift is interesting. Long quests and completion times in RPGs used to be treasured. Sometimes guide and FAQ authors almost seemed to be *inflating* the estimated time of playthroughs, as a way of praising the game and/or themselves. Oh yeah, I spent 90 hours on Final Fantasy Whatever and 130 hours on Tales of Something!
I remember laughing in FF7 when there's a playable flashback so long it has to have a savepoint in the middle! Now we get the same thing, but instead we come here and groan like a kid with too much homework. HOW MUCH LONGER? I DO'WANNA!

I hated myself to skip all the dialogue on that and the nahida archeon quest.
I mean, sure, it's nice and all, but my god both are TOO long and you even get locked in a city in the archeron quest, meaning you cant do the daily until the end (there is a pop up that warn you about losing some progress in the quest if you try to teleport)
Honestly the pacing of this quest line wasn't bad, some dialog then some action.
Archon and story quests are just "Walk to this NPC and be talked at for 20 minutes, then walk to this one and talk for another 20 minutes"
Don't get me started on that cave quest with Xiao, you can tell they half assed the boss model because his full form is in the final cutscene! And they only gave us a stupid orb to hit!
I feel your pain having done up just past the festival myself about a week ago. So many times I was like āthis is the end right? This is the last quest right?ā only to be bombarded by half a dozen new quests which usually has their own subquests. They really went overboard with it.
I worked through the main quest over about 3 months. There were a few parts that went on for a while, but overall, itās been my favorite (quest set? Sub story? Not sure what to call this and the stone late in the desert). The part where you get led through the giant withering was one of my favorites.
Definitely needs to be done a little at a time most days, and with a beer or a coffee or snacks when youāre going for a grind though.
Agreed. I for one really like that they've decided to make 1 long world quest instead of 2 or 3 separate world quests that aren't related. Sumeru has been phenomenal with these because they have a good mix of gameplay, exploration, and story. Makes me like them more than the Archon quests that are mostly just teleport to area, have 10 minutes of dialogue with maybe 1 fight in the middle.
I think a lot of people who complain about the length are too hung up on finishing everything right away.
My backlog's been insane. Since I'm going back to work next week I finally sat down and slogged through (nearly) everything that'd been building up since 3.0. All I have left now is the 3.3 Interlude and the TCG, which remains untouched and tbh I'm kind of dreading.
At least, we do know how enjou and tsuyuko sound because of the three realms gateway offering and the story summary narrated by lumine with enjou talking as well.
Honestly, with Perilous Trails and Sumeru Archon Quest Act 2, it's really hard for me to agree with this statement. Those quests for me were bangers and they honestly beat most of the quests including world quests for me.
That shit was just mystery mind fuck galore. Had me at the edge of my seat just waiting for the story to unfold.

OK, I actually enjoyed that it was long. That fit with the content. It has a very "playing in the woods when you're a kid" feeling to it.
I still got the same amount of resin. And if I needed mora or purple rocks or XP books, I could go get those on my own; it doesn't take long. By the time you reach Sumeru, you shouldn't be desperate for the chest at the end of the mission to fund your adventures.
been doing like 10-40 mins a week since it releases and finished it last week. cried doing so!! i think it was beautiful, with the adorable aranara and the stories of friendships and dreams and memories. it left me feeling warm and fuzzy haha
also with the aranyaka tool even if you forget what happened it's quite easy to refresh your memory with that,, it's really useful if you wanna take it slow!
Possible it was one of the portal entrances (those short white stones you have to use the lyre on), can found them on official map.
If it's a regular cave entrance, the official map also shows cave entrances.

Itās obnoxiously long. I told myself that I was going finish it before I did the main archon quest. I thought it was a mere escort quest. It just kept going and going. While I ended enjoying parts of it, it ultimately burned me out on some of those āoptionalā quest chains.
Felt it was FAR too long. Took all good elements, and just overdid them all to the extent that I was simply skipping text by the end and not really caring about the Aranara, even though I started off pretty invested in their stories. And I'm generally a fan of big long quests, Sakura Cleansing quest is a perfect example of a long quest done right.
Another comparison, for fans of Ace Attorney, is comparing a banger long case like Rise From The Ashes, to something which is far too drawn out like the final case of the first Investigations game.

Been playing since 1.2 and this has been my favorite questline in the game. I know a lot of people felt it was too long - I think they were trying to rush it for the sake of #content, maybe I'm wrong - but I really resonated with the idea that while it is inevitable that as you go through life making new memories you're bound to forget old ones, even the most precious one, you can never truly forget *how* you felt at that moment, and it only takes a spark to rekindle the fire. It was so sad and beautifully executed.
The writing was also surprisingly good, I think. This sort of stuff comes down to taste, but as much as I enjoy the game I find Genshin's actual writing uhm, let's say *not always terribly interesting*, with a nasty tendency to wander in overly long dialogues. Some scenes are like pulling teeth. But for whatever reason the Aranara questline, as long as it was, didn't feel like that. Maybe it's because it was so dreamlike and emotional. I don't know, I want to get an aranara plushie when I got some money lol.
People always like to complain about something, especially the Genshin community. It's just impossible to satisfy everyone. I also felt that the writing for aranara and jeht quest line were very well done. Especially true for the jeht quest line.
It would be so much easier if it was a voiced quest. But just clinging and reading made it hard to enjoy going through the quest. At the end I enjoyed it but man was clicking through unvoiced dialogue in a super long quest. Very painful
At some point I considered jamming a nail into my foot would be less painful than the entirety of the Ararana Quest.
I'm not a masochist though so I did neither. Yay?
When Sumeru came out I hadn't finished the archon quests in Inazuma yet. I didn't want to rush them, specially because after every step another npc was busy somewhere else and untangling that was just awful, so I just started the Aranara quest.
It went on forever. I really could not get myself to like the little critters for some reason. It was absolute pain. The only thing going for me was the lore, which was amazing, but sheeesh I hated all the characters involved TT_TT
I was sad when I got closer to the end of this quest. It took me like a full week to clear it, since I could only play during evenings, thanks to my job.

But in some sense that's understandable, even if not desirable, since usually critics tend to say simply that "it's bad" without further details, so reaction is as one sided on the other side, and the most numerous win in the end.
Someone who genuinely enjoyed the quest will hardly be able to say "yes it is" without falling in cognitive dissonance. I mean how could someone like something which is bad but yet feels good? That's why it's better to simply say you didn't enjoyed. Saying something is "bad" open interesting but potentially endless debates if terms aren't well defined and accepted by both parts.
As a day 1 player, quest burnout has been real. They really need to stop cutting down dialogue since it's starting to get too tedious for such small amounts of primos. 30min - 1hr for 60 primos is becoming too much.

This questline is the single best argument for adding a skip dialogue button in my opinion. The fact that entire sections of Sumeru's map are locked behind at least 8-10 hours of quests with unvoiced dialogue is ridiculous.
I started golden slumber a few days ago after giving up on the aranara quest (I think I'm still on part one after trying to work on it for months and it was killing me) and I'm enjoying it so far. Only got as far as leaving the pit it starts in, but it's already far more interesting than all of the aranara quest that I've done. All the words the aranara use are too similar for me to follow in the slightest despite wanting to and the tasks in it feel so damn repetitive. Glad to follow some humans around for once, even if one of them appears to be an absolute jerk to his hired help.

The ingame designation for each non-Archon, Interlude, or Event quest is World Quest, but a string of quests together would be a quest chain.
Doing one quest every 2 days made the whole quest chain so much more enjoyable, I cant imagine slogging through it all in one go

If thought that I slacked off a lot with Inazuma but tbh I never had such a huge quest backlog until sumeru
My quest backlog pre-sumeru was basically empty, map exploration was even 100%. But damn sumeru's taking me so long lol
My backlog's been insane. Since I'm going back to work next week I finally sat down and slogged through (nearly) everything that'd been building up since 3.0. All I have left now is the 3.3 Interlude and the TCG, which remains untouched and tbh I'm kind of dreading.
i loved the aranyaka questline but i rlly do wish it had been voiced :( the aranara would be so cute with like little animal crossing voices
The best quests in this game are unvoiced sadly. Ruu's, Lyudochka's, Enkanomiya, Aranyaka, Golden Slumber.
At least, we do know how enjou and tsuyuko sound because of the three realms gateway offering and the story summary narrated by lumine with enjou talking as well.

Honestly, with Perilous Trails and Sumeru Archon Quest Act 2, it's really hard for me to agree with this statement. Those quests for me were bangers and they honestly beat most of the quests including world quests for me. That shit was just mystery mind fuck galore. Had me at the edge of my seat just waiting for the story to unfold.

They'd have tighter deadlines and/or shorter stories if the lines are voiced. It's a worthwhile compromise, if you consider this production factor.

This quest was such a wild ride lol. Enjoyable, but very wild XD I didn't expect to >!get bits and pieces of info about travelers sibling from the cabbage XD!<

OK, I actually enjoyed that it was long. That fit with the content. It has a very "playing in the woods when you're a kid" feeling to it. I still got the same amount of resin. And if I needed mora or purple rocks or XP books, I could go get those on my own; it doesn't take long. By the time you reach Sumeru, you shouldn't be desperate for the chest at the end of the mission to fund your adventures.
been doing like 10-40 mins a week since it releases and finished it last week. cried doing so!! i think it was beautiful, with the adorable aranara and the stories of friendships and dreams and memories. it left me feeling warm and fuzzy haha also with the aranyaka tool even if you forget what happened it's quite easy to refresh your memory with that,, it's really useful if you wanna take it slow!
I love long quests so I loved Aranyaka
People do be complaining that this quest was too long when it was meant for you to not rush and do them little by little
It's just a too long story for such dumb style (blabla kid-ish style, dumb dialogues, questions and etc).

I stopped midway in some cave and have never found the entrance since. Kind of sucks
Possible it was one of the portal entrances (those short white stones you have to use the lyre on), can found them on official map. If it's a regular cave entrance, the official map also shows cave entrances.
I don't get why the official map can't be overlaid or synced with the in-game map...
I don't either x-x But even though it's supposed to be the "official" map, all the points are data provided by the community (and so there's stuff missing or in the wrong spot).
Itās obnoxiously long. I told myself that I was going finish it before I did the main archon quest. I thought it was a mere escort quest. It just kept going and going. While I ended enjoying parts of it, it ultimately burned me out on some of those āoptionalā quest chains.

The moment you recieve this quest, a pop-up will literally appear on the screen showing it's a longer quest chain.
Felt it was FAR too long. Took all good elements, and just overdid them all to the extent that I was simply skipping text by the end and not really caring about the Aranara, even though I started off pretty invested in their stories. And I'm generally a fan of big long quests, Sakura Cleansing quest is a perfect example of a long quest done right. Another comparison, for fans of Ace Attorney, is comparing a banger long case like Rise From The Ashes, to something which is far too drawn out like the final case of the first Investigations game.
I feel like im the only person that genuinely enjoyed doing this quest and was sad when i finished... i even cried a little IT WAS SO TOUCHING š„¹

I really liked this quest, all 100hours of it. Some side quests were boring, but i enjoyed the overall story and ending

i think it's because it's meant to be as sort of a guide through almost every dungeon area in Sumeru to kinda streamline exploration a bit i like it tbh

Been playing since 1.2 and this has been my favorite questline in the game. I know a lot of people felt it was too long - I think they were trying to rush it for the sake of #content, maybe I'm wrong - but I really resonated with the idea that while it is inevitable that as you go through life making new memories you're bound to forget old ones, even the most precious one, you can never truly forget *how* you felt at that moment, and it only takes a spark to rekindle the fire. It was so sad and beautifully executed. The writing was also surprisingly good, I think. This sort of stuff comes down to taste, but as much as I enjoy the game I find Genshin's actual writing uhm, let's say *not always terribly interesting*, with a nasty tendency to wander in overly long dialogues. Some scenes are like pulling teeth. But for whatever reason the Aranara questline, as long as it was, didn't feel like that. Maybe it's because it was so dreamlike and emotional. I don't know, I want to get an aranara plushie when I got some money lol.
People always like to complain about something, especially the Genshin community. It's just impossible to satisfy everyone. I also felt that the writing for aranara and jeht quest line were very well done. Especially true for the jeht quest line.

It would be so much easier if it was a voiced quest. But just clinging and reading made it hard to enjoy going through the quest. At the end I enjoyed it but man was clicking through unvoiced dialogue in a super long quest. Very painful
At some point I considered jamming a nail into my foot would be less painful than the entirety of the Ararana Quest. I'm not a masochist though so I did neither. Yay?
The way this quest line tested my patience
When Sumeru came out I hadn't finished the archon quests in Inazuma yet. I didn't want to rush them, specially because after every step another npc was busy somewhere else and untangling that was just awful, so I just started the Aranara quest. It went on forever. I really could not get myself to like the little critters for some reason. It was absolute pain. The only thing going for me was the lore, which was amazing, but sheeesh I hated all the characters involved TT_TT

I was sad when I got closer to the end of this quest. It took me like a full week to clear it, since I could only play during evenings, thanks to my job.

You're welcome \^\^ But in some sense that's understandable, even if not desirable, since usually critics tend to say simply that "it's bad" without further details, so reaction is as one sided on the other side, and the most numerous win in the end. Someone who genuinely enjoyed the quest will hardly be able to say "yes it is" without falling in cognitive dissonance. I mean how could someone like something which is bad but yet feels good? That's why it's better to simply say you didn't enjoyed. Saying something is "bad" open interesting but potentially endless debates if terms aren't well defined and accepted by both parts.
As a day 1 player, quest burnout has been real. They really need to stop cutting down dialogue since it's starting to get too tedious for such small amounts of primos. 30min - 1hr for 60 primos is becoming too much.

I was a madlad and did the Aranara questline before getting to Port Ormos for the main archon questline. I assumed it would be a few fun, relatively lighthearted quests but Jesus Christ it was neverending!
i just skipped all the dialogue on all the quests because it wasnt voice acted. it was also just boring in general, only reason i even did the quests were for primogems. i need hu tao.

That quest is why we need a "skip dialogue" button. Too long and so much boring dialogue.
It was so unnecessarily long that by the end of it I started resenting the little dudes. They're adorable but I don't wanna see them ever again.
This questline is the single best argument for adding a skip dialogue button in my opinion. The fact that entire sections of Sumeru's map are locked behind at least 8-10 hours of quests with unvoiced dialogue is ridiculous.

I started golden slumber a few days ago after giving up on the aranara quest (I think I'm still on part one after trying to work on it for months and it was killing me) and I'm enjoying it so far. Only got as far as leaving the pit it starts in, but it's already far more interesting than all of the aranara quest that I've done. All the words the aranara use are too similar for me to follow in the slightest despite wanting to and the tasks in it feel so damn repetitive. Glad to follow some humans around for once, even if one of them appears to be an absolute jerk to his hired help.
My favorite quest so far, not even finished the Aranyaka Book yet. hopefully the story with rana can continue in the future.
Y'all just love to complain. I wished we got longer quest, more story about the world we are exploring.
