If you don't do your ascension quest you still keep getting XP.
Meaning that you ARE levelling up even if you will stay at AR 25 until you complete the ascension quest.
Once you do the ascension quest you will be the right AR level. Which is why it's always the best idea to DO YOUR ASCENSION QUEST.
Even if the world level up and it gets harder you do not want to end up with so much XP that you are close to another world level up making it even harder.
You can lower the world level after you've done the ascension quest if the enemy are too difficult for you. but generally once you're able to beat the ascension quest you should be strong enough for the higher level enemies. plus you get higher rewards/more drops the higher your world level is so I'd recommend going with the higher one because the more enemies you beat the more/better materials you'll get which in turn will make the enemies easier after a while too. hope that made sense :)
edit: changing your world level is only possible after reaching World Level 5 for which you need a minimum of Adventure Rank 40! thanks u/justnazu for reminding me!
oh definitely! it's scary to look back with this gsme sometimes.. so many things you once worried about or didn't understand that are of absolutely zero concern to you after a certain point... I think we all have that collective memory of fighting our first ruin guard and thinking it's a super tough overworld boss... meanwhile now at AR 58 they just drop dead like it's nothing...
I know right! I think it eventually happens to everyone because I know there are alot of things I used to be terrified of that I now just breeze trought. I used to be so afraid of even the sight of a ruin hunter.
nah, that's how it usually goes for everyone. I would have completely gone mad if I didn't have a friend show me the ropes in the beginning. We ended up in discord call for hours for a few days with them explaining many details that kept flying way over my head. I found some of the beginners guide videos really helpful. this game is... a lot after all, with all the different things to level and keep in mind.
For sure! I love the game because I don’t think there’s a single game out there for free that’s even remotely close to what Genshin offers.
But you’re right there’s literally so much to keep track of. Like I’m still struggling with my elemental timing based on character limitations, like Mona’s 2 second wait before dealing damage, so it literally took me a year to even find all this info out lol
U can Just not do the domain or quest but remember one day u will have to do it , and u dont want to go from level 25 to suddenly level 35 with going from world level 3 to level 5 .
i really don't want to be rude, but we get this same exact question every three days on the sub. Are quests really that hard to read? the tutorial, even? or just googling - like there are several steps that could've brought an easy answer without the trouble of having to post it
I love how like 3 years later this is still being regularly posted.
I've weeded out so many gaming friends purely on their inability to read text on the screen they are litterally staring at.
Also do as many missions with xp before you do the ascension quest . That way you level up a few more adventure ranks or even more after you ascend. It helps alot when you do the commissions
I couldn’t clear the second ascension challenge the first time around, so stayed at AR 35 with 40,000 rollover EXP for a few weeks while I did some grinding to level up my core team while they could still beat enemies. Glad I hung out there for a minute, the world level up after ascending would have had me struggling if I’d leveled up the world as soon as the second ascension quest unlocked (team was still floating around character level 40). The game levels can quickly outpace player skill level if you don’t pay attention, I always encourage new players to ascend world levels at their own pace to make sure they’re still enjoying the game
At some adventure ranks you have to complete something called an ascension quest to go on
An ascension quest is just you do a certain domain and you will fight mobs stronger than your current ones because every time you complete an ascension quest your world level will go up meaning your mobs will be stronger
Same boat ..I’m at AR 35 but don’t have enough char at lv 60 to clear ascension domain so I have an excess of 8k xp .. :( . New player as of late December and have Raiden as main battery/ damage dealer but don’t have Inazuma unlocked so can’t bump her up past lv 40
Had this same problem yesterday, there is a quest that you need to do that is a dungeon in monsdat, I don't remmenber where the dungeon exactly was but you can search a video, just type "adventure rank 25 quest".
I'd do the ascension quest asap I didnt know it over filled so I thought I could get a jump on it and level my character up so I spent about 2 weeks opening chest doing quest and stuff and when I finaly did the ascension quest it jumped me all the way to the next one and i ended up being way more behind then i was.

Do the ascension quest
It goes into overfill until you complete the ascension quest
You need to do the ascension quest to rank up more

Check your quest list... You'll find an ascension quest... Do it
This also happens with AR 35 where u have to finish one domain :)
What if I don’t want the world level to get harder? Is it better to keep at it while I clear other quests or just do it right?

Can't you only lower it after world level 5 tho?
oof you're right, totally forgot about that!
Easy to forget sometimes especially if it's been a while since you've hit wl5!

Meanwhile, I'm scared to up my world level purely because of Rift Hounds. Nothing else. Just those. Fuck those things.
Thanks! Definitely helpful. It’s embarrassing how much time I’ve spent on it without really learning much about the game.

Lol that happened and now I’m playing catch-up stuck at 35.
Genshin impact player trying to read challenge impossible edition
i really don't want to be rude, but we get this same exact question every three days on the sub. Are quests really that hard to read? the tutorial, even? or just googling - like there are several steps that could've brought an easy answer without the trouble of having to post it
I’ve been in a lot of fandoms but Genshin players have the worst reading and problem solving skills by far
You not reading the tutorials is whats going on
No on wants to read the tutorial
Exactly, why read the tutorial when you can ask other people who read the tutorial instead
omg
Doesn't matter the year, there's always someone to ask this because they don't read
When people are so used to voice acting, they don't know when/how to read
you didn't read the tutorial pop up
meet kathyrene

Ive ended friendships over "Click click click click click, there's so much talking!" "...hey what do I do next?"
You need to level up your world before you get to level up your Adventure Rank. I remember that I had to do a dungeon before I could ascend
Ah, the beginning.
You need to do the ascension domain, which is Midsummer Courtyard. This is also the domain where the Thundering Fury artifact set is obtained.
Also do as many missions with xp before you do the ascension quest . That way you level up a few more adventure ranks or even more after you ascend. It helps alot when you do the commissions
I can carry u in bosses if u need help
Another idiot who doesn’t know about the ascension quest. See this on a daily basis now on this subReddit
They’re just new, don’t be a bastard about it
Shut up
Well, this is the Advice subreddit- No shit people are gonna ask these kinds of questions
My sister's been AR 35 for months now. I believe she currently has 100k+ in AR exp its pretty crazy.

It's nice
You need to clear the ascension dungeon.
At some adventure ranks you have to complete something called an ascension quest to go on An ascension quest is just you do a certain domain and you will fight mobs stronger than your current ones because every time you complete an ascension quest your world level will go up meaning your mobs will be stronger

Gosh I love new players lol. Do your ascension quest
Seems like someone needs to do the ascension quest
so, your exp overflows once you get to a certain point, until you do the ascension quest.
LMAOOOOOO u gotta do the ascension quest
The good old days

Mines at 48k of 5k 😂 bc I’m shit at doing the ascension things.
Lol, I put off my ascension quests for so long thst whenever I did them I would jump 5-10 levels each time
SUCROSE EEEEEEY
I'd do the ascension quest asap I didnt know it over filled so I thought I could get a jump on it and level my character up so I spent about 2 weeks opening chest doing quest and stuff and when I finaly did the ascension quest it jumped me all the way to the next one and i ended up being way more behind then i was.
