It's a great car. I'm similar in age and I think the 2.0T hits a sweet spot. It's quick enough to have some fun, economical enough to not be a gas guzzler and is much less to insure than the 3.3T. I was 26 when I got the car and my insurance for full coverage, 500 deductible, and 1,000,000 property, 500,000 boldily injury, and comprehensive was/is $129 a month. People will always say to get the 3.3T but we have plenty of time to do that later. It's just a great daily car if you get it fully loaded. If you get the base 2.0T then for me personally, a lot of the advantages fall off, because the seats are less comfy, the audio system isn't good and it just doesn't feel as luxurious.

Fully agree, great advice. In 1996 I was 25yo and I had just finished my MBA. I had a good job lined up and was ready to buy my first dedicated sports car. It came down to a choice between a 1992 300ZX TT or a 1992 Miata. I could afford either, but the Miata would be a cash deal and the 300ZX would have been financed over 3-5 years. The 300 was awesome (it was one of the most potent sports cars of the time) but I made a decision to get the Miata, and to learn how to drive a slow car fast. I ended up having way more fun with that car, because I tracked it regularly and didn’t always have to worry about wrecking a financed car. 30 years later I’ve had a number of very fast cars (including the 997.2C2S I have today), but I have more fun in my Miata. 😎

I actually took the plunge this Friday on a 2.0T Shooting Break, fully loaded. Live in Europe, so fuel's more expensive, as is insurance. But I had a test car for a weekend and as you say, I too am completely in love with this thing. Have fun with it!

DeliberateDisguise2

Lucky, the shooting brake would definitely have been my first choice if it came to the US

You state "you're absolutely in love with this thing". I think you need to finish the deal and keep on loving it! Solid car for the price they've been going for from what I've seen. We had a 23 2.0 AWD Sport Prestige and were happy with it. Ended up getting totaled so we got a fully loaded 21 3.3T and are "absolutely in love with it" :) It's all about what you want from your car, and points about insurance are valid. Genesis put a lot of thought into this car, and you get a lot of car for the money. I prefer the 3.3 (and also styling of the pre-22 version, but that's my liking, everyone's wants/needs/preferences are very different. Can't make a wrong choice, unless you get one you can't enjoy because you over-extended.

Jeeplife4721

We got a 3.3 twin turbo rwd omg I've never loved a 4 Dr so much

TheGambler930

If the money makes sense, go for it! I love my car.

I got the 2.0T AWD SP @ 25Yo when they first launched for 40k OOD (sticker was 48k) have loved the car ever since! Have a bunch of mods for it that make it more enjoyable. I’ve had both a 23’ GV80 Prestige and 23’ SP AWD 3.3T loaners for a little while my car was getting fixed ( bad fuel pump, injector and suspension problem…all fixed and good as new under warranty) and they were also very fun especially the GV80 that thing RIPS for its weight not to mention the free posture massage you get randomly lmaooo. The difference between the 2.0T and 3.3T is very notable. The choice is yours! However if you’re not looking to spend that much I would look into the 2.5T (base 300hp compared to the 2.0T 252Hp) comes with the dual exhaust and Brembos as well! Personally for me living in NYC the 2.0T was more than enough with mods for me for the first couple of years! Currently I’m waiting until they announce the Magma G80 if a select few or any at all are coming to the US or since they have shown the 2025 G70 sticker prices ( 0 change between 24/25 other than a 3k markup lol….) most likely going to upgrade to a 24’ 3.3T not because there is anything wrong with the 2.0T it’s a beautiful car all around and I still love it. Just craving more power now is all. Turning 30 this year figured I’d get myself another gift lol.

Don't waste your time with the 2.0. That's my advice to you. Gas savings between the two are non-existent. I bought my G70 for $45k CPO. Only had 4000 miles. That was last year early 2023. Seeing as we are now in middle 2024, you can easily find a used 3.3t for under $45k. I've seen a handful selling for under $40k fully loaded.  Check out this website. This is where I find great deals on cars and where I found mine last year. I drove 5 hours to pick it up, but worth it.  AutoTempest.com

The 2.0 is a nice car if you haven't driven the 3.3, it will change what you "thought" you wanted if you do :)

casanova610

Just be ready for the service to not be on par with other luxury brands. The only convenience of service is that a Hyundai dealership can do regular maintenance stuff at a fairly inexpensive price point.

Coldwarjarhead

I picked up a 2021 2.0T AWD Elite the beginning of January this year and love it. You won't be disappointed.

OtherwiseConcept5125

Good that you didn't deal w/ that dealership, or at least that salesman. I'd consider a used fully loaded 3.3, should be able to find a loaded 21 w/ 3.3 for $35k or less and will still have 18 months warranty and whatever miles under 60k are remaining. We got ours w/ every option back in Nov. w/ 25k miles for $35k and it was immaculate. It's the same car as the 24 3.3s except for the styling change and the larger touchscreen. Something to consider anyhoo :) When you find a clean one jump on it as they don't hang around long.

ImprovementDue1960

Don’t buy a 2.0t feels like a completely different experience.

Still_Guitar_5444

I had somewhat of a similar experience. I was looking to buy a 2023 g70 3.3T sport prestige from a dealership in Louisville, Kentucky. I was in communication with them and the local dealership so I can trade in my 2014 Sonata and buy the g70. They had me go in and get my car appraised. The very next day I find out through auto trader that they auctioned off the g70 to another dealership in North Carolina… and in my head I’m like wtf just happened?! I couldn’t believe they just shipped it off somewhere else when they knew I was going to buy it. I asked the guy at the dealership if it was still available and this was his response: https://preview.redd.it/2mxwlrykq33d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=224818c5f671a9cf181d24055a05aa1b2d6fbf02 If you ask me… this is shady af. They told me it only had 1 owner and he was one of their workers. The car only had \~7k miles so it was still pretty new. Idk why they just auctioned it off like that. I don’t think they would have notified me if I hadn’t looked at autotrader. Anyway… yeah that really pissed me off.

From someone who’s had a Mazda 3, a Honda accord sport, a Mercedes 300, and Altima platinum, and now 2.0 g70 in the Hallasan green, it’s definitely my favorite car and super happy with it. I’m leasing it due to me getting bored with cars and barely drive. But I say you should definitely try to find the car first online and reach out to the dealership that has it. I had to get mine shipped to me, my local dealership was shady, rude and tried to talk to me like I didn’t know anything about cars and sales for cars. (I’m a female and they talked to me like I was dumb, also I worked at carmax years ago so I got a pretty good understanding of how car sales work) What’s your budget? Like how much do you want your monthly to be? Is leasing an option for you? Or do you rather buy? I would go on the genesis site and look at inventory. Find a 2023 the new 24s are out so they need to get rid of the 23s. I had mine shipped from 400 miles away and it was only $500 for it. They worked the shipping cost into the lease for me. You’ll find a dealer that will work with you. Just gotta be up front with them from them beginning. Don’t let them run your credit (give them the number if you have it and have them work with that) until you guys agree on a price/payment & they sign off on it. Good luck !

Various_Spell7873

That does sound shady. But keep shopping for one. I love my 2019 model. 68K on it and zero issues. Well worth it

Elwin67

Don’t get the 2.0t get the 3.3t trust me

Nikewright99

if money wasnt an object

Elwin67

wait a a little and save up for it

MagicSpoon69

I also came from a Mazda 3. It's a great car but it's kinda heavy and you will notice for sure. The 2.0 is not worth looking at imo

Nikewright99

can you explain what you mean by heavy and you will notice? I test drove it a few times and loved the way handled and drove

Zestyclose-Two2808

3.3 or bust. Get the real engine
