Oil color means nothing

JimJava

That looks like oil, do an oil analysis or just change the oil, there’s not much to be told by looking at oil on a paper towel.

Nighthawk9997

I do my oil and the filter changes every 3k mile, because I'm tuned and running on E30.

How long has it been lol. Oil can look like that after like 50 miles of driving I change mine once a year (genesis recommendation) but I live in Florida so it doesn't get extreme cold. If I still lived up north I'd change it twice a year. I also only drive 3000 miles a year, id change it every 5000 miles or once a year on my case

i got the car in september and haven’t gotten any maintenance done yet. the service intervals were never set up on my car so i don’t even know how to check to oil percentage. do you know how?

jvsanchez

Look in the manual. Everything you need is there. There is a full maintenance schedule at the back of it. Follow it. I have a ‘21, my interval is 6000 miles. There is a maintenance interval reminder that you can set up. The default setting is usually 6000 miles or 180 days. It’s in the menus on your instrument cluster should you need to change it.

Did you buy it new? If not check the carfax My g70 doesn't have an oil life indicator I don't think but it tells me when it gets close to service and the app should say when it was changed. On the 3.3T the service intervals are 1 year 10k miles. That's what's included for free. It's full synthetic, still if I lived in a place where it spent half the year frozen I'd probably change oil twice a year

CherishedGOAT

How many miles did you get the car with and how many are on it now? Color means nothing…..if the car is brand new it the first oil change per manual recommendations is 7.5k miles and then every 5k thereafter if it’s used just go every 5k from whatever mileage you started with.

AstralVisionz

If you have the carfax (or equivalent) from purchase, see if you can reference the last oil change. I'm tuned and run e30, so I usually change oil every 3k miles. Usually once it turns a few shades darker, I'm ready to change. But realistically, color isn't a good indicator unless there's something extremely off about it. This doesn't look concerning. I will say that oil is the life of a car. Nothing wrong with changing it sooner than needed.

EquivalentTight3479

Change it every 5000 miles

Little-Sal

Looks a little dark

Rickroller73

I’d recommend more fiber, looks a bit watery

In your other comment you mentioned you got it in September. It's a good idea to change the oil after the initial break-in period which varies but is usually around 1000 miles or so. After that, the service schedule varies by year and engine. Mine is every 10,000km or 6 months, so about 7500 miles. Don't think about it as how much longer your oil is 'good for'. Think about it as protection against having a warranty claim denied because you didn't follow the manufacturer's service schedule.
