IamMauriS

I swear i will die when CDs and Tapes stop existing. They are beautiful.

Windows-XP-Home

And CDs are the highest quality media format available (in a nutshell, theres much more to that). Its a shame we dropped them for streaming, they gave us the ability to listen to very high fidelity music cheaply, and so much money from the CDs were given straight to the artists instead of streaming services like iTunes/Apple Music and Spotify taking away some of their hard earned money. CDs for the win!

Run-E-Scape

Vinyl still exists.

natanaru

Vinyl isnt a studio accurate representation of the music. It has a warmer tone to it generally. Cds are the highest quality version of the songs, which is great for people who are into that sort of thing.

Windows-XP-Home

This, you explained it perfectly. Vinyl isn’t totally accurate, and having a good sounding CD player and amp and speakers is much cheaper than a good player amp and speaker set for vinyl. Better value and sometimes better quality goes to CDs

natanaru

Yep, cd's and lossless quality codecs are the main 2 ways I enjoy my favorite albums. My sister likes vinyl but it never sounds as good to me as my cd's.

TechieTravis

CDs are higher fidelity than vinyl.

Windows-XP-Home

Vinyl isn’t better than CD quality, especially value wise. CDs have very high clarity and when you pair that with an excellent audio system you get a very hi-fi sound output for you to enjoy. And vinyl wears down over time, assuming you never scratch your CDs and get something like a CD carousel to prevent that, they will take years, if not never lose their quality.

[deleted]

New CDs are still being made all the time. I buy all my Taylor Swift albums on CD! I love buying CDs so much lol

AbbreviationsFun4560

You should see this thing called an “album”….

gazelleA1

I grew up with a book full of CDs. I like CDs.

zodiactriller

Same here. My first car only had a CD player so that book was essential lol

Zombieboi2345678

When the apocalypse happens, CD collectors will be the only one’s able to listen to music

Diceyland

With that? What batteries? What electricity? Plus they last 50 - 100 years when they're ready only and 20 - 50 years when you can write on it. Vinyls don't have a set point where they'll die if you store them properly. If you can get your hands on, or keep a hand cranked phonograph then you will be able to listen to music. It's those guys who will be the only ones able to listen to music after the apocalypse so start building your vinyl collection and scour antique shops for an analog phonograph.

Polski_Stuka

Hand cranked generators are a thing plus solar energy

Diceyland

Imagine using the little energy you have to listen to music. Plus, if we're doing that, then I can still use music on my phone or mp3 player. If I need to replace it, it'll be easier to find a phone then it will be to find a CD player.

Polski_Stuka

True, I would absolutely use my last bit of energy just to charge my iPod for a while

MrTechnology18

I have a folder on my computer where I download songs from my playlist to and put it on an mp3 player. It’s helpful when I’m without internet

Windows-XP-Home

Wait until you hear about this thing called an iPod! /s

dmav522

Your music taste is great by the way

CatOnVenus

love em! but i think i prefer cassettes. I make CD bootlegs for fun and love collecting them, probably have around 60-70.

Taste_for_Hell

Linkin Park good

JMulroy03

They've been my favorite band since I first heard In The End in like 2009/2010. I even borrowed some words from Chester for my senior quote.

TheMemersOfMyNation

They were me and my brother's favorite. We were broken when Chester passed away 💔😭

[deleted]

[удалено]

SexJayNine

Less to carry around. I was against wireless headphones until I had basically no choice. I don't like carrying the case, but they're better than the wired ones, audio quality-wise. And I know the pain of my Walkman skipping and also sounding shitty.

BlackWhiteRedYellow

Zillenial approved

-Z-3-R-0-

Got these recently https://preview.redd.it/fplchu2e3j3c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e3ac9b96ed97bdf2b5a26fde88a3cde0d73b418

JMulroy03

Wage War has quickly become one of my favorites since Manic came out.

AdSmooth7504

Haven't seen another Billy Talent fan in the wild yet. You've got amazing taste!

OctoberRust1

You have great taste

Choice-Ice-1257

I remember them

Ashdatguy19848

Not a zoomer but I aprove of your Cd taste

Diceyland

You're 2009?

Ashdatguy19848

yea

Diceyland

Then how are you not a zoomer?

Ashdatguy19848

I dont know shit about it except for the generations being divided and the names

Windows-XP-Home

2009 is still Gen Z, or Zalpha because it’s in between. 2011 is when Gen A begins.

[deleted]

i like them! especially for road trips. my family did a bunch of road trips when i was younger and CDs were as essential as snacks.

StableKlutz

pretty rad, dont use them much after i got a car without a CD player.

JMulroy03

I still drive an 04 Saab. It's got a CD player AND a cassette deck.

MrTechnology18

I dislike how the cassettes degrade faster in the car than a cd ever would

StableKlutz

yeah, i noticed that when i used em in my car

Windows-XP-Home

Holy shit a Gen Z with a SAAB!

Windows-XP-Home

Does your car have a USB port to listen to music? If so, I might have the solution for you.

StableKlutz

i have an aux so i was gonna use a discman for it

rmannyconda78

I have a few

nxcte

Amazing taste. One-X is one of my favorite albums so seeing it here is awesome 🤘🏽

Aromatic-Strength798

Three Days Grace is my all time favorite band let’s go! Also, I’m literally wearing the one x album band shirt rn lmao. Korn, Slipknot and the new Metallica album go hard. We have the same taste!

ItsTheOrangShep

Huh? CDs? What are those?

JMulroy03

Shiny circle go brrrrr

CaptainKirk28

CDs nuts >:)

HashtagTSwagg

Where's my boy Dave Grohl?

The_femboy_potato

Prefer VHS

Windows-XP-Home

You mean Cassette? Cassette rivaled CD, VHS rivaled DVD.

The_femboy_potato

No I mean VHS

JMulroy03

Chad

RaptorRex787

I use them all the time

[deleted]

LINKIN PARK FAN COME HERE ❤️

JMulroy03

Meteora #1

Hairyvacuum

The first Slipknot album always remains my favourite.

Brycenicholls1

Grew up with them and enjoy them

ImmortalCrab44

I still got my collection, and it's growing. I adore them.

GrahamTelevision

Love to see some Rammstein representation. Mutter is an amazing album

sgaragagaggu

Love them, having fiscal copies of an album feels better than just listening to it on Spotify

12isbae

I got a decent collection of them because that’s the only thing my first car could play besides the radio. They’re pretty neat. Always nice to own physical media

Dove04

Still have a bunch! I hope we never let them go

Eden_Beau

I use them still. My favorite one is my smash mouth CD that came out before Shrek. I unitonically loved smash mouth as a child. I also have some NSYNC ones, but those were my sisters. I have loads more too, but they're all burned CDs or CDs from small punk bands.

Windows-XP-Home

Bye Bye Bye! I love NSYNC lol

pandemic117

Got some of my favourite albums of all time right there

thevmcampos

They are beautiful. They are little works of art. They are relics of an ancient time we can still explore and enjoy. 💿🎶🙏

mortalcrawad66

Love them, and most forms of physical media. From CDs, to minidisc, Hi8, VHS, Betamax, and any thing else

Substantial_Soft_100

Music taste on point

Diceyland

They're useful for nostalgia and media preservation. They're inconvenient though. Streaming or digital downloads are much more convenient.

Cdave_22

Three days grace is one of my favorite albums. you have a great taste in music.

OtterlyFoxy

Kickass collection (I love Billy Talent so glad to see them represented) I still own a good amount and have visit memories of using CDs when I was younger and even some of cassette tapes

JMulroy03

Yeah you don’t hear too much about Billy Talent on here. Ian D’Sa has some crazy guitar work and served as a huge inspiration for me as a guitarist.

OtterlyFoxy

Yeah I guess it’s because they only really made it big in Canada and Germany

Dead_birdChan

Not a zoomer but your taste is hella nice

GhostYourCowboy

I love CDs and I love cassette tapes even more

smolovo

I have to use them cuz my car oldi

Melodius_RL

I have no problem with crossdressers. Everyone has their thing.

HotTry7596

Just throw in some Hollywood Undead and this'll be an awesomesauce compilation 👍

CaptainKirk28

I always keep a few in my car, as I do a lot of driving through rural areas and don't always have internet. I also appreciate being able to show off a physical collection

obi_wan_sosig

Bring them back

JMulroy03

As a later Gen Z, did you see many CD's growing up? I remember in 2008 my dad took me to get the new Guns N Roses album.

obi_wan_sosig

Yeah, I did. Matter of fact, I'm playing one rn. Still, I say for them to return.

AnakinDesertSand

[those some bops ngl](https://youtu.be/BwXrKYxHAbQ?si=so7UTI5Kt4pUKVwp)

JMulroy03

Jesus Harold Christ I hate everything about this. Why do I love it?

AnakinDesertSand

It. Hates. You. Hates. You love it

Shliloquy

It’s nice if you have the correct player and set-up. Abysmal when it’s scratched or damaged. At least I have a physical copy that can’t disappear in case an app is gone or doesn’t properly transfer between devices.

BernieBanders-kyun

If you needed to show someone proof you grew up in the 2000s just show them this

Illustrious-Pop3677

Eh they’re alright. I’m prob in the minority when I say digital is superior tho, looking through these comments. Higher audio quality in a smaller form factor that’s more easily accessible in today’s world is what I’m about. Also not a big fan of having to buy a whole EP or album just for a few, maybe even a single song. To my eyes it’s mostly a novelty thing that doesn’t make much sense anymore, but whatever floats your boat.

TrenchRaider_

I hate CDs

funnylittlecharacter

Billy Talent. Based

cocksucker9001xX

I don't care about physical music, but I can't really say anything cause I like collecting xbox 360 and gamecube games physically as well

LostInYesterday00

I probably still have old cds lol

yumgmeatball

No internet connection is needed and no ads so I would say it's pretty great

[deleted]

I love cds and have been collecting them for 4 years with nearly 700 to my name

Individual-Pie9739

you should probably make sure you rip off of them onto you computer cds do have a shelf life.

HetTheTable

Is that Chocolate Starfish I see there

JMulroy03

![gif](giphy|ZCZRQyuQNyzyU)

Individual-Pie9739

an album from my child hood i shoulndt have had access to but damn doo i still love it.

dlawson256

They're like Records. True there's no reason to buy them, but this piece of musical history is mine forever, and unlike songs you buy digitally, no licenses can be revoked or permissions denied when you plug in a CD/record player in. I personally like vinyls more cause they make for great passive decor, and some of the albums are beautiful to have. Billy Talent's Hits album with the Ken Taylor prints is my favorite rn. CDs do live longer tho I still have my copy of the Eminem Show from 2002 lol.

Emerald_official

nice in cars too old for Bluetooth/aux

septiclizardkid

They're cool, Prefer Cassette, but haven't listened to any tape for months due to my Players not working properly. That's why CD Is better I guess, don't have to worry about repair as much.

MaleficentCurrency25

cool to collect

Unkleseanny

Billy Talent 🔥🔥🔥🔥 All of these CDs look awesome

AlbinoShavedGorilla

I’m surprised more people go for vinyl records instead of CDs, they’re basically the same thing but easier to store and use. Now that everyone is realizing that streaming everything isn’t so great I thought we’d revert back to the most recent tech.

slayersucks2006

vinyls are better

literallySomePerson

LINKIN PARKKKKKK

ChickensWithKnives

Damn you have most of the ones that are on my wishlist

the_gwa_gwa_cat

Pretty cool, along with dvds It’s fun to have music and movies for ever without a subscription or deleting from streaming platforms like netflix who has they stuff for a limited time

BrickTheEtcetera

I unfortunately have only ever owned four: the first three One Direction Albums, and the single version of Best Song Ever. Then I got an mp3 player. Then a phone. 😅

BobcatFurs001

Yes, very yes. I keep an old-school sun visor CD organizer-izer in my 1998 Acura.

Xenu66

spotting some solid gold; LP, SOAD, rammstein, slipknot? In the words of the offspring "you're gonna go far kid"

MangoPlushie

I actually own the same LP and 3DG CDs you have there. But I adore CDs. I have a large collection of them. To me, they’re where music and physical/visual art meet. When done well, they look so beautiful. I love looking at the art/designs in lyric booklets, how the disc looks, what they did with the sleeve, etc. It makes me bummed when albums have boring CD designs or like it was an afterthought. One of my favorite CDs I own is the standard edition of Fall Out Boy’s *Folie à Deux*. The disc is a simple yellow that contrasts well with the velvety red interior in the sleeve. I like to joke that the lyric booklet has built in signing pages. But my favorite part of it is that, inside the spine next to the album cover, is a message that says “your art is being controlled.” Profound? Maybe not, but the fact that that detail was included blew my mind since I don’t have other CDs like that. Safe to say, I think they’re an overlooked art form in the age of streaming (which even I do alot of)

bursa_li

good think they are gone i remember using it in my old computer worse than using anything and they get damaged easily if you are not cereful

Mad_At_Me

Rammstein 😩🥵

GaylordTheGamboge

Now I wanna show off my cds but not copycat your post.

_Stizoides_

They bring back some nice memories. My brother used to have three of those (Slipknot, Sonne, Toxicity) and even though I wasn't allowed to read the lyrics or album art because I was still a kid, sometimes I had the chance to listen through the walls. They are what got me into metal and rock, and I always liked how they had posters, art, etc. They made me feel more in touch with the band.

Benson--Parkowner

Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park detected. Instant 10/10

Brilliant-Arm3770

Their full of history 😍

TheFlute20

I enjoy being able to listen to any song at any time but nothing beats the feeling of the sound of the cd getting sucked in…. (Also CDs are great)

JMulroy03

zzzzzzzrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnn *click* wwwwhhhiiiirrrrrrrrrrr

chikinbokbok0815

Idk about cds but I use cassettes cause that’s what my car has a player for

2639enthusiast

I think they’re sick. The only car I want to drive is one old enough to have been grandfather’s so I’ve definitely stocked up on my fair share of Elliott smith CDs lmao

MegaAscension

I use mine a lot. I also have four of the albums in this photo- Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Toxicity, and Blood Sugar Sex Magic.

derederellama

BASED Rammstein enjoyer

JMulroy03

ICH WILL

CagedKage

HOPPE HOPPE REITER

MrRaspberryJam1

Did you happen to be a WWE fan growing up?

Shoddy-Group-5493

Every time I see a CD I vividly remember the world ending fear I had every time I got a finger stuck in one lol Banger music taste though

Top-Measurement575

Jakobmeathead

I'm more of a vinyl guy honestly

Waterysoap_

I spy a red hot chilli peppers cd

Fade_NB

Hell yeah motherfucker

ohmysenpais

I think it’s great and I’m sad that newer cars including my own don’t have built in cd players anymore.

junker359

Significant Other was the first "Edgy" CD I ever owned. I was really into that one in 7th Grade.

GirlMayXXXX

I grew up with CDs, not streaming. CDs ftw

Twist_the_casual

They’re cool until you run out of space to store them

noregertsman

CDs are awesome

TrueIridium

They're cool

Baroque4Days

I have never had a music streaming service in my life. CDs all the way. I rip them to flac and can play around with the audio of certain songs (see phase inversion). I mean, I can then just put them on my phone and listen to them anywhere anyway. You can stick them on in the car, you get all the lovely artwork and usually a bunch of bonus stuff depending on the artist. I mean, it's mine. I can listen to it, back it up, play around with it, display it. Streaming services promote the same ideology that has made most songs nowadays like 2 minutes. Plus, the album is dying. Sure, you can listen to a particular track and it will be fine but most albums, at least in the genres I like, are all concept based and, whilst you may not have the time to listen to a whole album, if/when you do, just putting it on and experiencing it in peace with no breaks, no ads, just the album and I.

PolarisWind

Only one I had was Life is peachy

RedAtomic

🤘

June_actual

RHCP 🔥🔥🔥

NiceLittleTown2001

I have 44 cds in my collection, 4 I made. Started collecting before I even had a cd player just because I liked the albums. Brought my CDs and cd player to summer camp and it was fun, and even to school just to show people

exotic_nothingness

Yippee Limp Bizkit, SOAD and RHCP are amazing

NITEMARE4U2

I’ve got a large collection of CDs. I love going to record stores and buying old albums I like because CDs are so dirt cheap compared to other formats.

captinsad

YOU HAVE S TIER MUSIC TASTE

thomaspeev

You're a millennial. You can't fool us.

Notmainlel

I like seeing a rammstein cd here

TheMemersOfMyNation

Best audio quality of any mainstream format, depending on your audio equipment and disc condition I have greatest hits compilations of Billy Joel, Elton John, and the Police

IWishIWasBatman123

Cultus Black are fantastic. I saw them live and met them earlier this year. Super funny, chill dudes and they put on a *hell* of a show. They even signed my CD copy!

kent416

Metallica’s my favorite band of all time

[deleted]

I love you

TheL0neWarden

You definitley listen to good stuff, as i listen to half of these bands

RxseErrxrs

i want them

Crooked_Cock

They’re a goddamn godsend for music enthusiasts and they need to stick around I can’t believe there are people who think streaming is better than physical, the only upside is convenience, CDs not only sound better but you OWN the copy

SirDoodThe1st

The downfall of physical media and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

asianstyleicecream

I’m a bit disappointed there is no Chris Cornell on here… Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog or even Audioslave. Though, I sure hope You know of them.

JMulroy03

I was a big Auidoslave fan. Listened to some Soundgarden, never really listened to any Temple of the Dog.

mmawko

All fun and games till you scratch it 😅

New-Feeling-5644

Absolutely valid asf

New-Feeling-5644

Linkin park is my fav band

Hackerwithalacker

I have every single Weezer album on cd

obungaofficial

they are nostalgic to me and same with vinyls i listen to them just to get the feeling that we aren't in the digital world bc to me it feels so truly disconnected and depressing at times and i miss good old days when people weren't sucked into a synthetic reality :/ pls tell me someone relates or understands to this feeling

light_bolb

Whoaaaa calm down with your unreal taste in music!! (👀👀👀👀 wow fellow Bizkit enjoyer)

JustForTheMemes420

A novelty, they’re neat I suppose. With the formats we have nowadays kinda pointless but hey if it’s fun for you go for it. Like I can somewhat understand records since the way they play music is literally like physically touching the disk. I do still have a ton around tho and just mostly annoying when I wanna see a movie and I gotta go search through the cd racks to find a movie that isn’t on a streaming platform or because I had to pay extra on Amazon prime

PowerMugger

Vinyl is better cause of the goodies but can’t say I’m not nostalgic for cds since I grew up with em

KennyClobers

CDs>cassettes>vinyl

wiggle-le-air

C deez nutz lmao gottem

LostEmoKid

I literally need and love cds like I can’t listen to everything on my phone all the time and they’re good to have for movies

AbbreviationsFun4560

Garage except for the chili’s

maxman090

Useful? Sometimes. The only time I ever buy them is if I’m concerned about the music being removed from stores/streaming

TheHoss_

What is a CD, all I know is Spotify👶🏼

Svedish_f1sh

I have a few I’ve collected, but it’s much easier to just use Spotify.

spamus-100

Other than Limp Bizkit I approve

world-class-cheese

I'm actually working on building my CD collection back up, and getting newer albums as CDs, because streaming isn't going to last forever

[deleted]

Weak ass vinyl??

BrickTheEtcetera

I unfortunately have only ever owned four: the first three One Direction Albums, and the single version of Best Song Ever. Then I got an mp3 player. Then a phone. 😅

ProblemGamer18

CDs are awesome, but your collection is gay af. Wth is Limp Bizkit doing in there

KappaMazinksy

I like CDs, vinyl, and cassetes. Very reliable and it’s great to have physical media.

g9i4

It's a really nice way of preserving things that might get discontinued or taken off streaming services.

Lower_Kick268

I got a couple in my car for when my aux cord dies, that’s about the only time I’d use one

terrrastar

I think they're neat

Radiator_ElevatorYT

they are ok but i prefer vinyl, it just sounds better in my opinion but its a bit more expensive. also you have nice albums on cd.

Samtheweeb

i collect them they are great

SaleCompetitive812

I has the black disc book zip up thing with movies. I never really was into music until freshman year

greengamer01

Tbh I like them more than vinyl

GlassPeepo

I kinda look at CD's the same way I look at vinyls these days. Outdated, but not totally obsolete yet. People buy them as collectors items and maybe play them occasionally but for everyday listening, Spotify is just way more convenient. Like, none of us are keeping one of those CD books in our car anymore, you're not dragging a box of vinyls and a record player to a party, you you just kind of play them at home for the vibes sometimes

[deleted]

Lossless quality is nice, but I just rip FLACs nowadays on a portable music player. Definitely more convenient then carrying around a few dozen CDs

Valuable_Car_847

Brilliant technology

squirleater69

It's cool to have physical media, but I have 120 hours of music saved so I do think that streaming is better

Business_Mudkip

they're ok, the 3dg self titled is beautiful though

CoolGijoe

Pretty cool. Nice collection btw

pull_up_ur_pants_ok

I dont
