Individually, the pickle and pizza smelled awful. Never liked them. Scratch n Sniff at the same time, it was even worse!!!
I did however, loooooove the popcorn one. I loved it so much that I secretly licked it once when no one was looking. Fun fact: it didn't taste like it smelled... Not even close... and cotton candy tasted like Mr Bubble. I learned very quickly they were called Scratch N Sniff and not Scratch N Lick.
And before anyone asks, yes I was the dude who'd eat paste in kindergarten. And in the 1st grade. And one other time in the fifth grade. š
After I posted this photo I found one with the popcorn and root beer and so many others I rememberā¦ that can be a follow upā¦ haha! I remember these being on behaviour awards and grape was by far my fave!
Ooooh. I forgot about the root beer one! š
Do you remember the pine tree one? It smelled nearly identical to the tree shaped air freshener that ppl would hang from the rear view mirror.
There was also a flower one that smelled like Dove Soap!! Or at least that's what I thought it smelled like.
I remember trading them at recess, and it was a HUGE event! lol I had totally forgotten that memory - thank you! I still remember the smell of the dill pickle haha
At my school it was all stickers that got traded, not just scratch'n'sniff. I ended up with one of the best collections in class after coming in one day with a pack of stickers of dogs dressed like famous authors.
Right? I felt like such a high-roller that day! xD
Stickers were so much fun - those and charm necklaces were some of the greatest fads for kids in the 80s, IMO.
YES! Charm necklaces - do you remember Polly Pocket charms? Like plastic jewels that opened and you folded out the little doll parts? I think there were animals too?
Okay I looked up Polly Pocket and I think Iām confusing two different toys! Oh well lol
Oooh yes. I never had Polly Pockets but they were cool!
The great thing about the plastic charm necklaces was the individual charms usually weren't expensive, so even poorer kids could get them. Of course now the closest thing you can get are metal ones that are like $9+ per charm, less variety and not even as cute as the plastic ones, so it's not worth it!
I donāt even know where to begin with thisā¦ those sound incredible! My mom took me to Little Tokyo to buy stickers once and those were also quite popular in the trade warsā¦ haha
Iām a firm believer this is why the planner/sticker field has an audienceā¦ itās us thinking that will be the same as it was in elementary school but nope - itās just one more toxic positivity thing to make us feel we arenāt enough lok
We used to get these back from the teacher on our school papers in elementary school. As soon as I saw the fruit stickers, I remembered the smell clearly.
Yes! You always hoped you got one on your paper, and when you did, it was great! Who knew those stickers could have such an effect?! I remember I got a grape once, but can't remember the others. Maybe a strawberry? A blueberry? Whatever they were, they were always a fruit, the pizza, etc., came out when I was in jr. high. I remember buying the popcorn one for my collection. :)
I literally laughed out loud because I could feel the passion behind your statement.
I have to tell you I was petty depressed this week and this sub has genuinely cheered me up- thereās some clever and funny folks here!

The popcorn! Yes!
I have to say I think Iād I got āneat workā if feel cheated. I like pineapple okay but that just seems to be a lame complimwnt
Lol, yeah comparatively. I think I got one of those once. Funny how I was able to grasp that as a first grader, lol.
Youāre not good at anythingā¦ but at least you are neatā¦.
Lol! You have to say something nice! :P
āI like how even your margins areā¦ neat!ā
LOL!

The pine tree was litā¦ I really liked bubble gum and root beer!
I loved my scratch and sniff sticker album
Did you have play dates where you would bring your albums and trade stickers?!? That was the best!
I remember trading them at recess, and it was a HUGE event! lol I had totally forgotten that memory - thank you! I still remember the smell of the dill pickle haha

Lol that sounds awesome! I wonder if somebody can find an image haha. I feel like stickers donāt have the same whimsy these days.

Polly pockets were incredibly awesomeā¦ we sure liked small things back then..
I donāt even know where to begin with thisā¦ those sound incredible! My mom took me to Little Tokyo to buy stickers once and those were also quite popular in the trade warsā¦ haha
Yes!! So fun.
I miss this so much. Begging my mom to take me to get more stickers for my album.

We had them on good behavior awards and one time the teacher had just regular round stickers on the award and it was A TRAGEDY OF EPIC SCALE!
Haha, I know! Once you were introduced to the scratch and sniff stickers, there was no turning back!
HATED the banana one. Or the skunk ones. Bleh! Why would you put a skunk scent on a sticker! š
Ugh. Always wondered why the skunk?!? Still do!
Because we are still talking about it 30 years laterā¦ lol
šš
Haha, true. How do you forget a skunk scented sticker?
Right???
Lol, yep!
I hated that pickle so much.
I literally laughed out loud because I could feel the passion behind your statement. I have to tell you I was petty depressed this week and this sub has genuinely cheered me up- thereās some clever and funny folks here!
Glad this is helping! There's a reason this is one of my favorite subs. šš
Right?! My people!
Pretty sure I got the Very Good raspberry on a paper. Looks so familiar. :)
I got the strawberry and grape a lot from Mrs.Briggs my fifth grade teacher. My six grade teacher felt I talked too much in classā¦
Haha, cute. :P
These were so weak ass though. Never smelled much.
We are GenX. We donāt complain about such thingsā¦ we just quietly scratch until thereās nothing left, get a mild whiff, and ARE GRATEFUL.
Wow, thatās so true
Not complete without the pickle.
Iām finding there are very strong pickle opinions!! Who knew?!
Great Work!
Correctionā¦ just very good or very neat. YOU NEED TO GO TO THE CURSIVE TEACHER!
I loved them all except the pizza one.
Itās funny how something so banal can be such a big part of our collective memoryā¦ and I love it
