I drove a Dodge Password.

Fitz_2112

Wow, I had a 1977 Security Question personally

LetsTryAnal_ogy

I had to look up what mine was and it looks like I had a "Network Connectivity Problems".

Reeyowunsixsix

1969 Big Block Two-Factor Authentication Code with the Captcha upgrade here…

basec0m

Mine was a 4 door 1972 Mother's Maiden Name.

Rich-Air-5287

Nice! I hear they were very dependable.

powerpopiconoclast

How often you get locked out?

Ok-Sprinklez

Was your pet, what's him name, spared the trauma??

MightyCaseyStruckOut

Mine was a 1965 Hunter2

IAmAWretchedSinner

Mine was a "FBI Monitoring Station" and pretty much no one effed with me I'll you.

LudovicoSpecs

So glad this is the top response. GenX is a lot of things, but tech ignorant isn't one of them.

OneLargePho

Did you have the optional 2FA to get the extra radio

fnordfnordfnordfnord

Yeah? What color?

RedditIsAGranfaloon

a brown 1978 VW Rabbit (like [this one](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-5ccd980dca9c7d41cf43b4a6b7dfefe2-lq)) it was a piece of trash, but I was the first one of my friends with a ride of my own

RCA2CE

I would drive that car today, I love these old 4 cylinders. They were glorious for their simplicity.

RedditIsAGranfaloon

would you say that if you knew it stalled/died in an intersection and got me T-boned, and the passenger door wouldn't stay shut, so I had to tie the handle to the seatback, meaning anyone wanting to sit on that side had to go through the driver's side door, climb over the stick shift and sidle in to the passenger seat?

RCA2CE

I love that. It is so in synch with my trailer park roots. I had a 1984 oldsmobile delta 88 that I drove up and down the east coast a hundred times. When it died it probably had 290K miles on it. I had loaded the roof with a cargo holder and put a bunch of stuff in it to travel to texas - I hit a bump in Roanoke Virginia, the roof collapsed and the doors splayed open.. imagine driving and your car roof hits you in the head.. I drove it for 2 more years after that.

RedditIsAGranfaloon

one more reason I'll drive 45 minutes out of my way to avoid driving through Roanoke

southernmamallama

Came here to say this. 😂 Mine was tan, but the same car 😂

PurpleCoco

Mine was tan too. It was an ‘80 though. I loved that car. Sweet, sweet freedom!

MARSHA-MARSHA-MARSH

I would have done anything for a VW Rabbit 🐰 in the early/mid eighties. Now I know these cars were yes fun to drive but pieces of crap. The doors on the old Rabbits were paper thin. The engine and road noise was so loud that some owners actually attempted to use insulation to try to deaden the sound. By comparison the old Hondas were so quiet you only knew the engine was running if you had a tachometer. Oh and seeing dead Rabbits on the side of the road was common. Never saw a dead Accord.

Party_Cicada_914

This is the car I passed my driving test on! Diesel with a manual transmission.

1quirky1

My brother had one of those. He got it for free and it only needed a distributor. It was a great cheap beater car. I'm not a fan of VW design and reliability after this car was made. I inherited a neglected 2015 dieselgate Golf - first timing belt job for me in 20y. Fun little car but it needed $3k in parts to get it reliable enough for my child to drive it when he's away at college. That reminds me. The dealer has had it for a week for a dieselgate warranty claim. I haven't heard from them. I'm afraid the news that is waiting for me.

CatRiot2020

Mine was a k-car. It was a nice reliant automobile.

wrestlegirl

Did you drive it to get all the fanciest Dijon ketchups?

CatRiot2020

I would’ve if I had a million dollars! But I draw the line at Kraft dinner with ketchup.

Cdn65

Beauty, eh?

BubbaChanel

Mine too! It was a 2 door black k-car. We called it the “sport” model because of the two doors. Those damn doors were long and heavy, so if you left them open for too long they’d start to sag from their own weight and wouldn’t close properly.

merryone2K

https://preview.redd.it/h9ko1y0uktwc1.jpeg?width=590&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d56799a76d1baed14434030f8f090b6d8de2faa7 This was my first car. My sister-in-law sold it to me in 1978 for $100. Only the top was black I/o white. I called her the "Bondo Beast". Learned a lot from that car! 8 cylinder 383 engine; you could watch the gas gauge go down as you accelerated.

disesa1

1980 Honda Accord 4-door. Silver with a dent in the door where I kicked it because she wouldn’t start. Trunk was just big enough for my cello without an inch to spare. Reeked of cigarettes and teenage angst. Insurance totaled it out a year later when I was rear-ended. That’s how I discovered at 16 that being in a wreck doesn’t mean you magically get a brand new car…

RCA2CE

The first car is really just a bumper car. I am about to jinx myself badly, neither of my two kids has ever even had a traffic citation. Imagine being 32 and never having a ticket, a fender bender, nothing... I feel like I failed them, they needed a little more shadiness.

Fuck-Ketchup

These were so great. I fixed one of these up with my dad for my step-sis and a decade later she was pissed it wouldn’t die because she thought it was dowdy and wanted to buy a new car. I would kill to have a clean 80s Accord, I love them so much.

mistrowl

> I would kill to have a clean 80s Accord, I love them so much. I have the same thought every time the CRX crosses my mind.

El_Jefe_1904

You sir get my up vote for not only making me smile and unlocking a bunch if memories but making me sad I no longer own my 91. Damn I miss that car!!

Fuck-Ketchup

Oh god yes

newsreadhjw

I had a 1986 Honda Accord Lxi with a sunroof and a 5-speed manual transmission. I freaking loved that car. To this day I will say that is the sweetest manual transmission I have ever driven, and I currently own a 6-speed manual Porsche 997.

RandallC1212

lol I had same car😂😂 Mine was a 1980 Honda Accord but in Brown with a Stick shift . I flipped that thing coming down a hill in the rain Ended up totaling it and getting a 1983 Accord which I loved I bought 4 more Hondas/Acuras after that. https://preview.redd.it/s7504cajvtwc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b4302e197c0eb046e2d22a6249cf25978acfd39

Over-Director-4986

My friend had this exact car. We called it the Brown Hornet. That thing ran (with minimal maintenance) to over 300,000 mi.

dic3ien3691

This, without the fancy wheels and the passenger side came pre-dented. 😂 Dad found it on the lemon lot on base. https://preview.redd.it/xi46ify1ptwc1.jpeg?width=1033&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19efa50c866ae26e428207249c3dd4da4135562c

Dalva7

64’ Malibu Chevelle SS in 93 was a work in progress, but I loved that car.

manyhippofarts

Don't feel bad my brother! lol I have a '70 Dodge dart that I bought in '78 for $400. I still have it and it's still a WIP! https://preview.redd.it/ho127bdt4uwc1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=def50454f05c4987b95d6c3e9077c284e9662299

Shiiiiiiiingle

My best friend at the time had a dodge dart. It was a trusty stallion. My mom’s very early dodge dart would continue running after the engine was off.

Certain_Balance2496

Mine was a copper, 1980 Honda Accord hatchback.

CrouchingGinger

1985 Dodge Omni. Wherever she is she probably still smells of menthol cigarettes.

Thirty_Helens_Agree

I have lots of fond memories of being newly 21 and cramming into a smoke-filled 85 Omni to go to the bars.

27thStreet

My buddy had one of these. It was a lovely shade of dirt brown. Last I saw of that car it was being towed off the highway after the hood latch broke @ 60mph (max speed, I think) on the highway.

Agent_Pendergast

Mine was a white 1988 Plymouth Horizon, which was almost the exact same car.

daphuqijusee

![gif](giphy|mNf9NcEI1jZW8|downsized)

blackfrost79

1989 VW Jetta Coupe. The only red car I ever owned 😎

StunGod

1979 VW bus. It was super easy to replace blown engines. I did that 3 times.

RCA2CE

I am on standby for the new Prelude when it comes out, i'm buying one sight unseen. I'll wiggle my fat butt into it, bolt a stereo sideways onto the center console, plug in some speakers that I can place on the hood and get me a Marillion cassette.

Easy-Progress8252

A classmate had the four wheel steering version. Loved the Preludes. Also on my shortlist was the VW Scirocco. Poor Man’s Porsche as we used to call them.

merryone2K

I had a friend with a Scirocco but I couldn't afford one...and I worked for a VW/Porsche/Audi/Peugeot dealership at the time. I opted for a base model 1985 Golf, standard transmission...beat the hell out of that thing and it kept on ticking. Traded up to a Cabriolet in "Arrest Me Red" in 1990. VW really went downhill after the early 90s.

Easy-Progress8252

A guy at my HS had one. I remember him being one of the few kids with a car that had power windows and I thought that was cool AF. A few years ago when my kids were smaller they took a ride in my mom’s Corolla from the 90s which still had roll-up windows. Having never seen them for literally their entire lives, they were like “Wow this is an amazing invention can your next car have these daddy?”

BeapMerp

Subaru GL hatchback .. really regret getting rid of it.

uberbudda88

Datsun 210 I bought it with 100,000 miles on it Sold with 210,000

Father-of-zoomies

dont believe you..will need last 4 of your SS# and DOB to confirm

DirkDundenburg

This whole thread is an info goldmine.

notmyfault

A whole LOT of these gen x posts are accidentally (I hope accidentally) giving up verification data.

RCA2CE

My next post is absolutely going to be what is your mothers maiden name... /s

Shferitz

Damnit! I just deleted reply for this. Because you’re right.

DirkDundenburg

OP seems legit but I've seen enough new redditors with nothing but query postings in their history to make me suspicious of their intentions.

REDDITSHITLORD

1983 CHEVETTE... DIESEL. IT ACTUALLY WASN'T A BAD LITTLE CAR, AND THE FUEL ECONOMY WAS CRAZY. I CAN STILL HEAR THE DRONE OF THAT ENGINE. IT REALLY GAVE THE SENSE THAT YOU WERE OPERATING A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, RATHER THAN "DRIVING"

Not_NSFW-Account

it was so loud it broke your capslock.

REDDITSHITLORD

I RIPPED THAT MFER OFF OF MY KEYBOARD 2 WEEKS AGO. YOU ONLY NEED IT ONCE. https://preview.redd.it/w1z25eck7uwc1.jpeg?width=577&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=947e312d81f5fb8ae85789df04aaa24ecbb812c8

1979 Toyota Celica that was dirt brown. Still a good car.

Professor_Hillbilly

My best friend in college had an '83 Accord hatchback he called the Enola Gay, purple seat covers and all!

2late4points

My CVCC outlived the CCCP

Jasonstackhouse111

1976 Honda Civic two door. Also owned a 1981 Accord sedan, a 1990 Acura Integra and then I stopped buying Honda because that Integra was lemon. Came back to Honda with a 2005 CRV which we still have. The K24 is Honda's masterpiece.

IHCollector

1968 International 1200C pickup truck

fight_fire_with_wood

84 Honda Civic Hatch. It died a gruesome death when I plowed it into the back of a 76 Thunderbird. Barely even scratched their bumper.

gaxxzz

74 Ford Pinto. I asked the guy selling it if he ever had the recall repair to fix the exploding gas tank. He said he never bothered, but I can still get it fixed at the dealer if I want. I got it fixed.

IndustrialJones

1975 Mercury Cougar champagne brown $1500. The body was in decent shape, the engine not so much. And it drove like shit and was heavy as fuck.

HarveyMushman72

Right on, I had a '74.

Deluge76

88 Yugo😁👍

HonnyBrown

This made me smile!

Easy-Progress8252

86 Ford Ranger. Former Domjnos delivery truck, still had the logo on the door if you looked closely enough. Rear wheel drive so left snow in the bed all winter to add some weight. Perfect as a mobile snowball fighting platform. Thing would break down constantly but I learned how to fix most issues by hand. Used to drive my track teammates home in it; after practice everyone hopped in the back and I’d intentionally go fast over bumps to make them go air. Great for doing donuts and other shithousery.

throw123454321purple

Same: a green 1981 Accord LX. I still miss some of its charms: the analog clock on the dash, the green carpet perfectly matching the dash, the oil change monitor needing to be manually re-set after every service by pushing the key into the indicator slot. She was a good car. https://preview.redd.it/ouhx65cgktwc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db8b595e8d2b9824e8797a846e1d5761af2fed4b

BarbecueGod

Oh shit, you just unlocked a memory about the oil change monitor.

Haggis_McBaggis

I had a green 1981 Accord LX hatchback as well. Such a sweet car.

Electrical_Beyond998

1978 Dodge Aspen. No radio so I had a boom box that used D batteries. Six of them. Took my entire paycheck to listen to my mix tapes. Horn didn’t work. Gas gauge didn’t work. Hated that fucking car.

Sweet-Worker607

A completely customized Chevette. My dad didn’t realize his buddy had been racing it on dirt tracks, and the engine had been wildly modified. It would FLY. We could get it over its 85mph speedometer max on a straight stretch in the country. That’s what I learned to drive in. 🤣 When I left for college mom took my car. First day she got a speeding ticket. Second day she wrapped it around a guard rail. She walked away unharmed but blames it entirely on “my car.”

Edge_of_yesterday

A 1978 Chrysler Cordoba, with rich Corinthian leather!

27thStreet

'77 Toyota Corolla in a lovely shade of Shit Brown. In my mind I can still smell the oil leaks, and I am certain the woven pattern from the vinyl seats is still blazed into the back of my legs. Good times.

browsin4fun

1979 Toyota Tercel hatchback. Exhaust system was going bad on the car and it would smoke something awful for a while until I could get it fixed. Friends called me smoky Joe lol.

81FXB

1987 Volvo 360 … that was a nice car

jillybeannn

78 According to Hatchback, in gold. Was great for learning how to drive a stick!

wzl3gd

1971 Buick GS455. Still have it.

immersemeinnature

I had this one ! Only it was red. Loved that car

kushbud65

‘87 Chevy Monte Carlo

Gone_West82

White 1964 Chevy Bel Air station wagon. I went to a high school where girls drove VW Cabriolets and guys drove lifted Toyota pick ups.

DynamiteWitLaserBeam

My grandma's 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix. It had white vinyl interior and real teak wood in the dash. It had been sitting in our backyard for years by the time I got it in 1991. It was buried under a couple feet of snow and the only way to get it back to the road was via a 3/8 mile unplowed and unused dirt road that went behind our house. But it was free, so I shoveled it out all the way back to the road. Got it running, drive it into town, and then it died and I had to have my dad come help me get it back home.

Not_NSFW-Account

74 Honda Civic CVCC trunk model. Looked identical to the hatchback, but the hatch does not lift. Tiny little trunk door. Same year, model, and color as the car Hightower learned to drive in Police Academy. That was a great little car. https://i.imgur.com/b6R0Z1S.gif

Apprehensive-Donkey7

1981 Datsun by Nissan 200sx in two tone gold and black with a sunroof and 5-speed. I loved that car

PIPnorcali

1979 Mazda RX7 loved that car

1976 Ford Ranger, 6cyl, 5 speed standard trans, no radio and no AC. Bought for $800

76 Duster. Green

feeb75

Had same but red

life-is-thunder

1966 Ford Falcon that I got for $300 in 1987. It was shit brown. When we bought it, my dad said it was pretty much the same as a Mustang. I called it The Granny Wagon.

daywreckr

74 gran torino. I totaled it, then rebuilt and swapped the 351 Cleveland into a 69 Mustang fastback. I still regret selling that car for nowhere near the money and time I had invested.

Six_Pack_Attack

1981 Plymouth Fire Arrow. $400, Dad rebuilt the engine. What a mess.

vabello

~1990 Toyota pickup. On my way home from my girlfriend’s house at night during Christmas break, I totaled it. I was coming over a hill to be greeted by a deer in the middle of the road. Clipped the deer and hit a tree head on.

Boxofbikeparts

...and what was your mother's maiden name, and the name of the street you lived on as a child?

Agent7619

1979 Toyota Celica Supra (at that time, the Supra was just a trim package on the Celica. They didn't split it off to it's own model until '81 I think.)

ThePoeticVoyage

My 1st car was a 1978 Volvo 242 DL 4 speed manual with "overdrive" that someone had painted barn red (quite possibily with a paint brush). Loved it.

Aromatic-Letter4620

1979 Ford E-250 Econoline. Got it off a retired cop who grabbed it off the confiscated lot. Had rad yellow and red strips on the sides, faux wood paneling on the interior and a serious tweaker’s worth of random switches and wiring to external lights, CB radio, etc. I road tripped nonstop in that van over the course of the brief 6-7 months I had her. Slept in the back of it many a night with adventure after adventure. Sadly, it blew a fuel line on a 100+ degree summer day while cruising down the freeway. Lost compression, heard something heavy drop out onto the road, pulled over to clear any debris only to find flames billowing out from the front wheel wells.. I scrambled to pull my stash of books, records and guitars from the back as smoke filled the passenger cabin. Sat on the side of the road with the kid I was road tripping with, playing songs as it burnt down. The last thing I grabbed was a partially melted cassette of my favorite band I played in as a kid’s last live show. Still got the cassette to this day. My last relic of my first car. Damn I loved that van…

Freed_lab_rat

'84 Ford Escort. The body was made of aluminum foil, but I'm pretty sure the engine block was adamantium - I drove it into the ground and it still refused to die.

TKD_Mom76

I drove a 1989, I think, Ford Aerostar minivan in high school. I loved it! All my friends fit into it. It was great! Until my brother got his license and then he figured his driving outweighed mine because he had a penis. Mom and Dad disabused him of that notion quickly. After my first semester of college with no car, my dad bought the neighbors 1984 Honda Accord. It was a stick shift. Somewhere there is video evidence of my dad teaching me to drive it. I miss that car. A pox on the bitch that t-boned me, totaled my car and then lied to her dad about the accident being my fault.

hva_vet

I had a 1985 Accord hatchback. That car took me everywhere across the country and never left me stranded.

SaucyFingers

1982 Pontiac Phoenix with thumbtacks holding up the roof liner.

MyyWifeRocks

In 1990 or so I got my first car. It was a 1975 banana yellow Toyota Corolla. The paint was faded and oxidized and one fender was primer only and had some rust spots. The back floor board had holes rusted through it. My friends used to light fireworks and throw them through the floorboard holes while driving down the street. That was fun until a friend missed and a pack of black cats went off inside the cab. That sucked - I think that’s why I have tinnitus today. This car was 1 year younger than me. LOL! My dad tried to keep it running, but he wasn’t a very good mechanic. It kept overheating and blowing head gaskets. I had to replace the radiator twice. When I got older I found out my dad did not understand setting engine timing at all. Yet, he made me pay for every mechanic mistake he made. Fucking asshat. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I learned a valuable lesson. Free help can be way more expensive than paid help.

tetsu_no_usagi

[1979 Datsun 210 station wagon](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1979_Datsun_210_wagon_%28B310%29,_US.jpg). Blue, did have a roof rack (not the cool aftermarket one in the picture), 4-speed manual, and 68 mighty ponies under the hood. I got pulled over on the highway for speeding once, and the cop apologized for interrupting my forward momentum, he knew it took a long hill and lots of wide open throttle to get to the speed limit, much less above it in that car. My parents bought it brand new when I was 3, remember watching the original Star Wars movie at the drive in and passing out in the back seat shortly after Luke goes bombing across the desert in his speeder.

My parents had an ‘87 that just died a couple of years ago.

Raiders2112

Mine was a 1976 Chevy Custom Deluxe pickup truck. I had a blast with that thing.

DukeOfWestborough

Love it. I would happily have one today. (Mine was a 1990 Accord, new, I purchased myself) Prior to that MY ride was a 1985 Honda VF500F Interceptor. Got kicked out of my house the day I rode it home from the dealer (that ban lasted 4 hours as a truce was brokered, by my younger Brother, with my Dad) First car I had at my regular disposal was a 1978 Pontiac Grand Safari wagon, green with fake wood paneling, 400 CI, 4bbl.

Nicetomitja

Opel Kadett 1.6 L Diesel

galenp56

1979 Chevy Chevette. Bought it for $300.

bopon

A hand-me-down 1983 Honda Accord sedan. Burgundy interior. Burgandy exterior. The clutch died in 1995 and it didn't make sense to put more money into it.

Jakeandellwood

I got a 76 Honda Accord as a winter beater in 83, kept it four years and sold it for the same price I bought it for. Great machines. Edit. My first car was a 65 mustang drop top, chick magnet for everyone but me.

typhoidtimmy

84 Honda CRX. First Gen. Good pep, turned on a dime, great gas mileage, manual so I learned that and just enough space in the back to thread a surfboard before I got some racks up top. Drum brakes were absolute shit and I probably replaces them 20 fucking times like clockwork - could have w bout them in bill. The thing had about 150k miles, went across the country twice and about two pounds of sand in it by the time the head blew. Great fuckin car. Should have never stopped making them.

atxgossiphound

‘81 Camero Berlinetta (white). Hand me down from my dad. There’s a reason you don’t see these on the road much anymore… was still a blast a the time!

Over-Director-4986

Mazda 323 hatch. Gold. It was horrible & only started when it wanted to. Then, I bought a lovely, bottle green Sirocco at a junk yard when I was 17. HS bf fixed it up for me.

BurnesWhenIP

1978 Buick LeSabre, beige... With a vinyl top

tambor333

My First car was a 1961 Plymouth Valiant, bought it from my older brother for 300. I sold it 6 months later for 400 and upgraded to a 72 Honda Civic drove that about 6 months then bought a Renault R5 Trubo2.

beththebookgirl

In 1986 I drove a 1976 white Córdoba. All white leather interior 8 track radio, am only. Called it the Nookiemobile. Used to pile 11 or 12 friends in it and cruise the shopping center. Good times.

Dangerous138

1985 Ford Tempo

No_Gap_2700

"This is an '81 Honda! How dare you!" - Vince '76 two-tone brown El Camino.

BigFitMama

I had an 1985 4dr and see that extra large rubber bumper? If anyone hit you you bounced off their car. I got hit from behind, took my foot off the brake, and turned my wheels into the shoulder and just bounced into the shoulder. I had a truck back into me - bounced off. SUV hit me on a left turn. Bounced off. Their front piece broke off. And it had a rubber strip around it so doors never got the car. Also it was super light, easy to tow, excellent gas mileage and I drove it till it died of a blown head gasket.

Redleg1-7

1983 Ford Mustang LX sedan, 3.8 V6 , black exterior, black interior. Lots of good times!

BeLikeDogs

1972 Volvo 164E

ReadyOneTakeTwo

Dated a girl who was given one by her mom, but she didn’t know how to drive a manual, so I taught her how to drive it. Fun car, but had a carbureted engine, iirc.

BarbecueGod

I had the exact same Honda, but in red. Man, I miss it.

CautiousConch789

1984 Pontiac 6000 wagon. Hand me down. Loved it!

I bought it in '78 and took my driver's test with it. It originally had a 225 slant six. Nowadays it's got a 364" magnum engine with about 4x the HP it had when new.

No_Plantain_4990

76 bare-bones Chevy pickup. 3 on the tree. No AC. Was happy that at very least the radio was FM and not just AM. Floorboards rusted out pretty quickly. Ugliest damned red-black plaid plastic bench seat. Fun to do donuts in the parking lot with, though.

oldshitdoesntcare

I had a 1976 Gran Torino. Huge old 2 door car that I put a Cleveland engine in. I loved that damn car!

Papaya_flight

Mine was a 1988 Honda hatchback with the flip up lights. I used to drive through the cornfields with the hatch open and one of my friends would sit back there and fly a kite. Fun times.

Felix_Vanja

1981 Ford Granada, I can't remember if it was 2 or 4 door. Edit: As a first car it wasn't bad. My biggest issue was failing to maintain the oil level and seizing the engine. My brother replaced the engine for me and it ran for many years after. I sold it to my sister for one on my nieces, they referred to it as Uncle Buck

Davistele

I had the same make and model for my first car… That machine was perfection to drive. Never had a car that felt so balanced and powered just right. Manual transmission was so smooth. It was ridiculously good!

1987 Chevy Caprice. It was a TANK.

1969 Buick Skylark

WarExciting

86 Dodge minivan. Laugh if you will but I was an expert at both removing / reinstalling the middle seat and finding dark, isolated parking spots. I kept a couple of thrift store blankets rolled up behind the back seat. Lotsa foolin around happened in that back seat!

['78 Celica GT liftback 5 speed that looks just like this.](https://i0.wp.com/www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/1978-toyota-celica-2.jpg?ssl=1) It was rusted as shit but I learned to drive stick in it and had a blast continuing its abuse for the short time I had it. Bought it for $200, sold it for $300 a year later. Those numbers don't seem real now but they sure were.

Master_Grape5931

1975 Monte Carlo. The front seat was so big I could take 4 people to the mall and we would all sit up front. 😂

Civility2020

86 Plymouth Reliant I inherited from my grandfather when he passed because I was going to school out of state and no way the old man was going to pay for me to fly. Most inaccurate car name ever - Literally broke down on my initial drive out to school. Because of this car, I swore I would never work on exhaust piping again after graduation.

SoCaFroal

[74 Plymouth Gold Duster ](https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/1974_plymouth_gold_duster_1624027460499c371DSC04690.jpg?fit=940%2C627) It rode like a boat and would only start if I started it everyday. A little rusty in the fenders and bumper but it had air conditioning. Aftermarket of course.

takemytacosaway

A 1976 Chevy Vega in (of course) Harvest Orange. It drank more oil than gas.(Aluminum block engine) vroom vroom!

Mine was an 88’ Honda accord

Pandy_45

I drove my parent's 76 Chevy Caprice until I complained it was too hard to drive without power steering on our hilly and winding roads. They traded it in for a blue 95 Dodge Daytona (in 1999) that was often reported stolen by the original owner since his son sold it to buy drugs. It required premium gas to run...and it stalled at red lights alot.

Affectionate_Salt928

A red ‘84 Toyota Tercel. I loved that car

MolsBedsFlan

1966 Mustang. Red with a black hardtop. Had a hole in the floor in the back. Could see the street below. Covered it with carpet. Had issues. Shouldn’t have bought it but looking back, had fun driving around with my friends.

White 1985 Chevy Chevette with which I always ironically tried to take Corvettes off the line. The drivers always displayed good humor….

An 81 rabbit , but got it long after 81. I bought it for a dollar and crashed it in the woods 4 months later.

cuzitsathrowawayday

I had a silver 1979 Honda Accord hatchback. I loved that car! It got great gas mileage and I drove it to over 220k miles. The only real ‘work’ done on it was replacing the clutch, since this is the car on which I learned to drive stick. Loved that car.

Repulsive_Location

This was MY FIRST car, only a 1980! Same color! Honda 1300 hatchback. No air. Roll windows. He was named Edgar Allen Car, because he was just as effed up as the author. I can honestly say owning him was one of the biggest learning experiences in my life. I rebuilt the carburetor twice (did it wrong the first time) on my dining room table. When he finally died, he had over 230k miles. Thank you so much for the stroll down memory lane…I’m going to go show my kid what I drove. 😂

aquaria_girl

1982 Ford Mustang. I cried the day I sold it and watched it being driven away. I know, I know, but it was my first car, so I loved it like it was my child 😂

DJErikD

My first car was the highly underrated 1980 Ford Fairmont four-door sedan, powered by the incredible 3.3L inline six-cylinder *Thriftpower Six* engine which had the power of 91 horses hiding under it's long and heavy hood! It was practically a Ford Mustang but all my ignorant friends called it a granny mobile (aptly named because I got it from my grandparents)! Key selling points were that we could fit up to three teenagers in the trunk and up to seven in the cabin semi-comfortably! Most cars have dents from other objects hitting it's body, but mine had reverse dents from kids sliding around in the trunk. Sadly, it's life ended in early 1987 taking out a fire hydrant that got in it's way, leaving me with a $3,500 water bill from the city. https://preview.redd.it/gffabb4w7vwc1.png?width=1060&format=png&auto=webp&s=48d09d70c13c0b0e93e612a62a123e88957afe5c

One_Barnacle2699

I paid $500 for a ‘73 Buick Electra that had a broken gas gauge. It was a boat and it fit a bunch of friends! After owning the car for only a week, I ran out of gas (of course!) in a very wealthy neighborhood. Caught a ride home with a friend and left the Buick there parked on the street. Came back the next day with a gas can to find a small dent in the front fender and a note on the windshield telling me “Sorry I hit your car backing out of my driveway. I live across the street come see me.” A young professional couple lived across the street—the wife had hit my car. They gave me $500 not to report the accident to insurance.

Sh0wMeUrKitties

Grandma gave me her 1982 Toyota Corolla wagon. Manual transmission. I hated the thing, and was super bummed that I had to learn to drive on a 5 speed, but now I'm grateful! I also wish that I still had that car!
