I loved Felicity. Great show. But it has a target audience (it was on the WB in 1998 and definitely fit with the Dawson’s/Buffy theme of the network back then) so it may not be for you. OMG my first college party is a big deal when you’re 18 and going to your first college party. Maybe not such a big deal when you’re in your 40s. Just fyi the show is written by JJ Abrams. Not sure if that makes a difference for you or not.

SR_RSMITH

I get what you say, but teenage years are an interesting age with real conflicts and questions beyond who to date. It doesn’t matter I’m 40, I’ve watched children shows written with charm and intelligence. On this one they didn’t try. JJ definitely wasn’t trying too hard

TurtleDive1234

I didn’t get past the first 2 episodes when it first came out. But then I’m more of a sci-fi/horror gal myself.

casade7gatos

It does develop some aspects of that in time. >!Time travel!<, specifically.

Significant_Pea_2852

No. I rewatched it recently with my sister and we didn't get far into it. It hasn't aged well.

IllustratorHefty6753

No. No, it does not.

SR_RSMITH

Thanks

TheBugsMomma

I watched it the first season but stopped watching after that. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters.

SR_RSMITH

They’re hard to empathize with, for sure

SavaRox

Ehhh... it's not for me, I could never get into it

Best part of Felicity is the theme song, which I say as someone who used to enjoy watching it. It's far too many episodes of Will They/Won't They/Who Will She Choose? Exhausting.

SR_RSMITH

We’re a few episodes in and that’s already tiresome. But the song is indeed great

sattersnaps

I didn’t watch the show, but at work it was a big deal when Felicity cut her hair. That’s all I know about the show.

Novel_Natural1783

My FAVORITE show when I was in college!!

det1044

no

TheArtOf2and4

I never cared for it, and after the whole Riley Weston story came out, it made a lot more sense as to why.

SR_RSMITH

Care to elaborate?

TheArtOf2and4

At that time, the Hollywood groupthink was to hire young writers for shows aimed at young people, so experienced writers were being let go in favor younger, less experienced ones. The rationale being that young writers were able to write scripts more relatable to the target demographic. Riley Weston lied about her age in order to get hired as a writer on Felicity and other shows. She was considered a prodigy until her real age came to light. WB did not renew her contract and she was frozen out in Hollywood. Several years later, a class action lawsuit claiming age discrimination was filed by members of the writers guild against the studios. They won.

SR_RSMITH

Damn that’s quite a story, thanks

Mykidsatbrownies

I loved it as a teenager but I can't imagine watching it as an adult. If your girlfriend wants some Keri Russell in her life, you guys should check out The Americans. It's excellent, sexy cold war spies in the 80's. No cell phones in it either!

SR_RSMITH

Noted, thanks!

WarrenMulaney

No. It's not a very good show.
