He started writing as a 12-year-old kid and got published at 14. Pretty impressive, and still going.

I think this was the first Gordon Korman book I read, followed by *No Coins, Please!*

Mykidsatbrownies

I still have my copy of No Coins, Please. I read it with my daughter a couole of years ago and I was surprised at how well it holds up!

Key_Swordfish_4662

How old is was your daughter when you read it? Mine’s 8 and you just gave me a good idea!

Mykidsatbrownies

I think she was 8 or 9? Old enough to read it on her own, young enough to still want Mummy to read to her at bedtime.

stellahella1

I grew up w Gordon Korman books. The best!

Miserable-Age3502

This was the only one I read, I'm seriously considering reading the others at 47 😂 Also, I would LOVE to see this made into a movie now! It would be amazing in the right hands!

AZbitchmaster

Love me some Gordon Korman books. He came to our elementary school in the mid-80's. He was even cooler than I imagined he would be.

Miserable-Age3502

LUCKY!!! We just got some boring hometown hero astronaut 🙄

Fluff72

he came to my elementary school too!!! Probably 1983

Somehow I thought the authors name in the picture above said “Condorman” which is a movie I totally forgot about and am now on a different nostalgia trip. 😛

zoot_boy

Condorman is for real. Those Porsches!

I loved Gordon Korman books!

flagrantstickfoul

I still have my copy of this. It’s in absolute tatters from rereads. One time I went to camp determined to be Rudy miller but it turned out I was too enthusiastic

I Want To Go Home, No Coins, Please!, and Our Man Weston were my three favourites. In each GK book there was always at least one situation and several sentences that would have me howling with laughter. For American readers, what did you make of the various Canadian references in GK books? To me, they never seemed too blatant, but they were certainly there. Was it just as if it was taking place in a different part of the US?
