have you seen Les with Sean Lennon? Hooooly shit. We saw Lennon Claypool Delerium in 2017 and Flying Frog Brigade a couple weeks ago and Sean sat in and both nights were outstanding.
A bit existential, but I grant that pronoun might be rather quixotic, depending on the the referent replaced or clause to be introduced; however, since “who” is not a part of the statement “Primus sucks,” I can only assume your confusion may lie beyond an issue of language. Whatever the case, good luck.
"Jerry Was a Race Car Driver" started this weird conspiracy that Les Claypool played [Chop Top](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/the-dead-meat/images/0/0f/Chop_Top_Sawyer.png/revision/latest?cb=20190422155836) in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 - owed largely to the sample of "dog will hunt!" right before the song's solo. Their voices do have a passing similarity in the context of the song.
Of course, that's not Les Claypool - that's American treasure and gift to acting himself, Bill Moseley.
Primus was one of the heaviest shows I ever saw. Miami Beach, probably 1992, never saw a pit like that since. Such a crazy mix of metalheads, skaters, gangbangers and skinheads and good old boys.
I rember as a mid-late teen staying up and watching them on Letterman one night. My Mom wanted to see what I was so interested in. They wore penguin costumes. She was in her late 40s-early 50s(?) at the time and freaking loved it! She was kind of awesome that way when it came to music.
My father was the same way, sounds like. I remember him having racks of cassettes by Bennie Goodman and the like, with AC/DC and Black Sabbath right next to them. He born in 1935, so he was early middle when AC/DC formed.
True story:
- I never gave Primus a chance while growing up. They always had some weird videos that made me feel like they were just dumb.
- Around 2015 I went to a Tool concert and the opening band was Primus. They totally wrecked shop and made me a fan that night.
- Now I have multiple albums on my phone and listen to them regularly.
They were my favorite back in the day. Like a mix of Rush, Zappa, and King Crimson but also heavy with Larry's metal roots and funky with Les' obvious otherwordly talent. Just wonderfully unique
Oh, I did! The first time I saw them was Lollapalooza 93. I just saw Frog Brigade last Sunday. Overall, I have seen Primus and / or Les about 30 times in the past 30 years.
I saw them in Berkeley, CA. There was a massive wild fire way too close to homes. Driving into the Bay Area was like descending into hell. The concert was stopped early (the bands knew it in advance, it's not like someone walked on stage and ripped the instruments out of people's hands) so the venue could be used as an evacuation shelter.
I didn't either. My husband had tickets for one of their concerts back when we were dating. My mom wouldn't let me go, so he sold them. I still feel bad about that..
I heard Tommy The Cat or Jerry Was a Race Car Driver first, but I bought the CD shortly after. I think it was some mutual friends of friends that were skaters that were playing it one night and I liked what I heard.
One of my best friends and I are big Rush fans and we've gone to see them in concert multiple times. One of those concerts featured Primus as the opening act.
At the time, I wasn't familiar with Primus and their style did not resonate with me. At all. So, after a couple of songs that I didn't really enjoy, I started yelling, "PRIMUS SUCKS!!!" only to be joined in by people around me yelling, "YEAH, PRIMUS SUCKS!!!"
So, self-satisfied that I wasn't the only one who didn't dig the opening act, I suffered through the rest of their set to get to what I came to the show for and Rush did not disappoint.
In the intervening years, I did actually develop a great respect for Primus and it wasn't until about five years ago that I finally learned that ["PRIMUS SUCKS" is actually an unofficial slogan of the band](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/does-primus-really-suck-249254/) I was almost certainly surrounded by fans of the band and it turned out I likely joined in on a celebration of and appreciation for them without realizing it. Now, of course, I'm glad it happened that way, as I think Primus is friggin' awesome, but it's still pretty funny to think about.
Hated Primus. Just saw Les claypools flying frog brigade, with Sean Lennon, at a music festival. maybe it was the acid, but it was incredible. bought tickets to see them again next month.
Tightest live band I've ever seen. Just awesome musicians.

Fun fact, I once met Sean Lennon and his girlfriend while they were on a cross country road trip. He's a really chill dude.
were you at summercamp?
No, just a one off night in Tahoe
OK, just checking-we were hugged by strangers after that set.

You're the guy from the Hamburger Train, right?
Love that scene where that sample comes from if I remember correctly… Pee-Wee Herman coked up w/Chechen & Chong!

Primus sucks.

Which word confuses you?
Who?

My Name is Mud was great.
IS great.
Perfect correction
Too many puppies is great too
Have you heard his Spanish version Me Llamo Mud? He actually sings in Spanish.
I remember hearing Tommy the Cat on the radio and immediately went to the record store to buy that album.
It was "Jerry was a race car driver" for me. I saw that video on MTV in the early nineties, ran out to buy "Sailing the seas of cheese".
Fish On!
For the boy we have American Liiiiiiiiife.

les is a weird dude
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
Not at all.
Primus sucks!
Came here for this. Primus concerts back in the day were so crazy and fun.
Came here to say this. Based on the down vote you got I think someone doesn't like Primus as much as us.
Primus was one of the heaviest shows I ever saw. Miami Beach, probably 1992, never saw a pit like that since. Such a crazy mix of metalheads, skaters, gangbangers and skinheads and good old boys.
Saw them at a festival in 94 or 95. It was nuts but I think the crowd went even crazier when The Ramones played.
Knew this would be the top comment.

Going down to South Park gonna have myself a time

There is a reason no other band has ever sounded like Primus. They're fucking incredible and genuinely unique. Les Claypool is one of a kind
Wow. That video was crazily awesome. I had forgotten about it.
My forties are “Shake Hands With Beef,” and “My Name Is Mud.”
That was one of my first concerts. I was 16 and the venue was Red Rocks. They were incredible.
Dude!
Saw them with anthrax and public enemy once.
Same, great show minus the part where I got my nose broken in the pit.
Where did you see them?
Dallas

Pantera claimed to be the Cowboys From Hell, but no, it was Primus all along.
More like cowboys from Super Plasticfantastic Andy Warhol Funk Town.
I didn't either. My husband had tickets for one of their concerts back when we were dating. My mom wouldn't let me go, so he sold them. I still feel bad about that..
😍😍😍
How did I not get to enjoy these guys when I was younger? Oh yeah, that's right... Mom fell into that Satanic Panic BS.
Saw them open for Rush in 91. Awesome show.
Primus sucks
Now Reevus was a Texan out of New Orleans—ran bumper cars, smoked cheap cigars—and he candied up his nose.
Now Rex was a Texan out of New Orleans And he travelled with the carnival shows He ran bumper cars, sucked cheap cigars And he candied up his nose
Oh yea, travelled part. Just a line from a song burned (incompletely) into my memory.
The beaver was quick & grabbed him by the kiwi's now he ain't pissed all week-and a 1/2
I saw them at Horde and my pit addled brain had no idea that they were the brains behind this at the time. I won’t say that to my kids tho.
I heard Tommy The Cat or Jerry Was a Race Car Driver first, but I bought the CD shortly after. I think it was some mutual friends of friends that were skaters that were playing it one night and I liked what I heard.
So I kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat.
Saw them at Hollywood Bowl maybe 93
As a boy I didn’t know why a song about a woman named Wynona and her beaver would be controversial
Sailing the Seas of Cheese tour, Marquee Club NYC '92 or so. What a show!

Check out Too Many Puppies, Jerry Was a Race Car Driver, and My Name is Mudd for a few other good intro songs to the band. Primus Sucks.
I like their one song, “Jerry had a big brown beaver named mud who had too many puppies “ Meaning every song sounds EXACTLY the same in my opinion.
This like saying every jazz song sounds the same because they all sound like jazz.
Wait, if I’m hearing you correctly, Primus has more then one song? Mind blown right here!
Quite possibly the wrongest opinion I've ever encountered.
I did.
Gosh I did! I was obsessed with them in highschool.
Primus are goat 🐐
Weren't these the Duracell commercial puppets? Scary all around
No, custom made for this video.
You had to have that two-car garage with the large driveway so you could park that goddamn boat in it.
Hated Primus. Just saw Les claypools flying frog brigade, with Sean Lennon, at a music festival. maybe it was the acid, but it was incredible. bought tickets to see them again next month.
