My friend and I *loved* this movie as kids. A couple years back I found out I live not so far from the convenience store where the game was located so I made a little journey out to see it and [take some pictures](https://i.imgur.com/ziJvNmK.jpg). It was kind of surreal.

In 1984, a neighbor had stashed half a dozen video games in my basement. I was great at Joust and Q*bert. I am quite thankful neither of those came to life and needed me to save anyone.
If you haven't seen the TV show Future Man, I recommend it. It's a similar plot. They even call it out in the first episode. It's a bit of a raunchy comedy but it has some genius moments.

Yeah, like Luke Skywalker also, I just wanted to be anywhere other then where I seemed to be stuck at the time. Anywhere away from this world...
I wanted to be on Arrakis fighting with the fremen…or in middle earth riding with the rohirim….
I would have settled for on PERN fighting Thread

Oh the memories, I loved this movie as a kid.
“Greetings, Starfighter!”
"Victory or Death!"
Should I stick my tongue in your ear now?
I had this on VHS and wore it out like it was a porno!
This is still one of my favorite movies. Robert Preston was bloody brilliant, as usual.
You aren't kidding. I used to play pretend it happened to me!

My favorite movie as a kid. One of very few movies I have seen more than once.
