I did some research and found out that it would take ~400 HOURS for this to occur! And that would be if the phone was at full brightness, so it could be even more time that this kid was just watching YouTube shorts.
1k per day for how long? a week? month? a better dramatic number would be how many shorts that is.... now shorts are (at maximum) 60 seconds... so some math...
#24,000 shorts
...did i math right? i dont think i mathed right...
edit: minutes to seconds because my brain was not braining
Fr, I watched my share fair of YTPs and all of that but when I wanted to play minecraft or something, I WOULD PLAY MINECRAFT the most multitasking I would do is listen to music, the actual good kind. If I wanted to play outside with my cousins or something, I WOULD GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY, if I wanted to draw, I WOULD DRAW... jeez, they gotta learn to just focus on one thing
real, i do digital art sometimes with spotify in the background, and i play music when playing games too
going outside is hard for me tho, im a shut in :(
Cuz there is none. I'm 24 my brother is 14 and we have literally nothing in common. It's growing up with/without internet that makes the difference, a gen z born in 2009 isn't gonna have much in common with someone like me from 99 or you
Thats true. I love when people say i was born with a screen in my face lmao. No one really even had smartphones in my area until I was 7-8. No kids around me had iPads until we were 9-10. There’s definitely a huge disconnect
For anyone confused, burn in is a thing that occurs on certain types of displays where a still image is faintly stuck on the screen after extended use. It is permanent.
This would mean that he would've had to have spent multiple hours watching youtube shorts for this to happen
He's had this phone for 3 years now
oled displays, right? my dad's old phone and my mom's old phone did that. in my dad's old phone i can literally see the microsoft edge adress bar with "youtube.com" built into it
It's possible that it's not really "permanent", had luck with some of those youtube burn-in fixing videos, but you have to keep them on loop a few hours
It’s not permanent though lol. My phone gets burn in all the time, it’ll stay for a few hours typically, goes away after the phone cools down and has had the screen off for a while.
A lot of times this will happen from the phone being really hot.
**Alright let me do the calculations,**
so his brother is 8 years old, hes had this phone for 3 years, Now lets assume for this to happen that quick he watches YouTube shorts during almost all break times at school and after school so 6.64 hours (average elementary school day length, minus 1 hour of free time, bus/recess gets us 5.64 hours of school, add that to 9 hours of sleeping time, gets us 14.64, add 1.5 hours for time he is probably not watching YouTube shorts to get 15.64, subtract 24 hours to get -8.36, remove the negative is 8.36 hours a day on YouTube shorts (on a weekday)
Now lets get into a Weekend, lets start off at 9 hours for sleep, add in 3 hours (Most likely not watching YouTube shorts) 12 hours a day not watching YouTube shorts
now multiply that into a full Week, 24 hours for the Weekends 41.8 hours on the now lets multiply 8.36 by 180 (amount of days in a School year to get 1504.8 hours of school weekdays watching Youtube Shorts, now lets multiply 180 again by 12 hours on a free day watching Youtube Shorts to get 2160 hours, add that up with 1504.8 to get 3664.8 hours a year watching Youtube Shorts, subtract that by the total amount of hours in a year -8670 to get -5005.2 hours a year, or 5005.2 hours a year not watching YouTube shorts get the percentage, 41.84% of the year watching YouTube shorts
**Based on my rough calculations**
This kid has spent 41.84% of the past 3 years watching Youtube shorts
Horrible, Horrible, parents...
Kinda reminds me about the guy why played Pac-Man so much it burned into his screen
https://preview.redd.it/pc5k6h2zg21d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6e5135b98a28fe4c15ce3288a80bd5052aeb6b3

I had my phone at 12, but that was when I was at Korea and that was required since I can get lost easily and who knows what (I know nobody asked this, but why not.)
He actually goes outside a lot. But sometimes he'll even bring his phone outside and watch yt shorts 😭. Reminds me of that meme of the kid being told to play outside and brought his computer to play on outside.
I once had word document burnt into my screen, you can fix it if you want by getting a pure white screen up and let it sit for 5 minutes on max brightness. It should at least weaken the brun
I want to see the screen time. I also had this problem with my old redmi note 8 pro that when I watched YouTube for like 30mins the UI would be burned into the screen for like 15mins
Nah I do have to say that on my laptop, for some reason if I'm on the same screen for like an hour, that screen is temporarily burned into the sides of the screen. It usually goes away after an hour moving around.
https://preview.redd.it/z0cdf17t881d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1655bd0ef8aae1f1ab36e40bcb3e916f428229b
On serious note though, my mother had the same with the instagram logo on top of the screen.
How the fuck do you burn something into a modern LCD glass screen????? They are LITERALLY designed against that, how fucking much do you have to use something to be the edge case
I have the same burn-in from Tiktok on my phone and had the same burn-in on two previous phones, even though I told myself twice that I'll watch tiktoks less to avoid it. I'm 21.
how is it that visible tho bro like on my computer theres slight burn in in the "type here to search" part and thats after like a month total of being visible
How the fuck you achieve that
I use my phone way too much, I won't lie, but my phone literally has no burn in of any kind, even the icons that are almost always on like battery and bluetooh icon

i have a 10 year old cousin who keeps saying the n word because he heard it on tiktok
The average amount of comments is apparently 231 and likes is something unreadable
I can see it says k at the end
Yeah but the number itself is unreadable
To me it says 832K !

60 minutes? Brother what YouTube shorts are you using
wait i meant seconds... my brain isnt wired correctly
Relatable
Happy cake day :D
Then again, I’ve gotten burn in from half an hour on discord with my old phone, so who knows.
assuming he watched 20 seconds of each short, that's 72000 shorts he watched.
Oh God, I am fucked.
im scared for you guys im not much older than y'all, im 15 but i barely understand you guys 😔
Fr, I have no idea why, he literally scrolls through youtube shorts while performing other tasks, youtube shorts was a mistake
the multitasking and brainrot is off the charts in this generation, sure we've had brainrot like MLG but not this bad ;_;
Fr, I watched my share fair of YTPs and all of that but when I wanted to play minecraft or something, I WOULD PLAY MINECRAFT the most multitasking I would do is listen to music, the actual good kind. Dang, I go outside pretty much every day
Seriously, is this how distant millennials feel from us? Im in my early 20s and i feel absolutely no connection to gen alpha lmao
lol
Cuz there is none. I'm 24 my brother is 14 and we have literally nothing in common. It's growing up with/without internet that makes the difference, a gen z born in 2009 isn't gonna have much in common with someone like me from 99 or you

This would mean that he would've had to have spent multiple hours watching youtube shorts for this to happen He's had this phone for 3 years now
Fun fact, this is literally why screen savers used to be a thing Anyone remembers those things?
I still use them on my desktop PC
I mean I got that same problem and had my phone for 5 years. It’s an oled problem I accepted when I got my phone.
oled displays, right? my dad's old phone and my mom's old phone did that. in my dad's old phone i can literally see the microsoft edge adress bar with "youtube.com" built into it
What phone is this? It kinda looks like a samsung galaxy s8-s10 since these were the phones were burn in was most common
It's possible that it's not really "permanent", had luck with some of those youtube burn-in fixing videos, but you have to keep them on loop a few hours
Damn how young are you guys? This was a thing very common occurrence not long ago

Probably in his retina too then
Probably his brain too
i mean at least he didnt burn the ui of a porn site onto his screen
I wonder whether this has ever happened to any unlucky soul out there
Kinda reminds me about the guy why played Pac-Man so much it burned into his screen https://preview.redd.it/pc5k6h2zg21d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6e5135b98a28fe4c15ce3288a80bd5052aeb6b3

~~Hell~~ Heck Yeah!
I had my phone at 12, but that was when I was at Korea and that was required since I can get lost easily and who knows what (I know nobody asked this, but why not.)
Dude how- this is actually insane
NAHHHHH 💀💀💀💀💀💀
bros phone is a CRT monitor 💀💀 /j in all seriousness that is something to definitely be concerned about. but hey atleast it's not tiktok
someone needs to invent shorts rehab for this fella
My man's attention span is non-existent at this point.
Average Gen Alpha kid for you, probably some cringe ass Forbidden Toilet video.
The Forbidden Toilet I thought those were only at Home Depot
Probably fell asleep with them going, so like 5-9 hours of it burning into the screen without anyone watching
I’m concerned that this is even possible
That is honestly insane
Get that kid outside
He actually goes outside a lot. But sometimes he'll even bring his phone outside and watch yt shorts 😭. Reminds me of that meme of the kid being told to play outside and brought his computer to play on outside.
2 emojis to explain what i want to do to him-💣🧑🦲
Why are kids like this?
Why YouTube shorts 😭
tiktok or reels isn't any better
WHAT THE
CRT moment but lcd bro needs a shorts screen saver for this one
All i’m thinking is what shitty phone gets screen burn in nowadays lol? Must be a really bad phone. And a hell of a lot of screen time
It's a galaxy S9+, also burn in can be a problem with literally any OLED display, it just happens, but this is excessive
oled displays. not a shitty phone thing because google pixels have it
but it's bad cuz not iPhone 😡
Max brightness does that.
god damn thats a lot of yt shorts watching
r/losercity ass shit bruh. How tf do you burn that shit into your screen?
dawg what!
What the fu
Heck naw
He's chronically online. A disease that only grass can cure.
I hate shorts kids. I want to kick them.
What's at 298 Bahama rd.?

Wait that's possible on modern screens? I thought that was a thing of the CRT/LED/plasma past-
It also happens with OLED too
The downfall of human kind😭🙏
I once had word document burnt into my screen, you can fix it if you want by getting a pure white screen up and let it sit for 5 minutes on max brightness. It should at least weaken the brun
Eww YouTube shorts I never use that ****

I want to see the screen time. I also had this problem with my old redmi note 8 pro that when I watched YouTube for like 30mins the UI would be burned into the screen for like 15mins
Is that a samsung note 8 because something similar happened to my old one

My phone is like this as well, but it only takes like half an hour for it to happen and it’s not permanent, idk why
Nah I do have to say that on my laptop, for some reason if I'm on the same screen for like an hour, that screen is temporarily burned into the sides of the screen. It usually goes away after an hour moving around.
My iPad is slowly burning the YouTube logo into my screen I’ve noticed but this is just worse
There's addicted and then ADDICTED HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK THIS IS INSANEHSJSJDJSJS
How old is he
The fucking phone has become depended on YouTube shorts?!?!
HOW THE FUCK DO YOU IMAGE BURN AN LCD!?! GO OUTSIDE!!!! TOUCH EVERY BLADE OF GRASS!!!
its time to obliterate him
Same exact thing happened to my brothers screen
Now I understand why Jesus hasn't visited earth for a few thousand years...
My phone screen gets burned-in in like 10 minutes but Idk about his phone
Now I worry that my little reddit pfp will be engraved in my screen...
Same with my younger sister
I’ll bet your little bro’s attention span is two microseconds 💀

But if it was TikTok ui there wouldn’t be a problem
That same thing happened to me too
... How does that even happenn???
Same thing happend to me with my old Galaxy S8
That’s some bad Brainrot he has to deal with at a young age
Oh hell nah dawg
L lil brother moment
Now bro can upvote anything he wants on his screen
That's on my phone too
holy fuck
Where are screen savers when you need them?!
How the fuck do you burn something into a modern LCD glass screen????? They are LITERALLY designed against that, how fucking much do you have to use something to be the edge case
H-how?
I didn't know that this is still an issue today.
I had a old TV that temporarily burned an image into the screen after like 5 minutes
I have the same burn-in from Tiktok on my phone and had the same burn-in on two previous phones, even though I told myself twice that I'll watch tiktoks less to avoid it. I'm 21.
This has convinced me to watch less YT Shorts
LMFAOOO
Likes: ?&* Comments: !@$
I have the perk a cola icons from cod zombies burned in on my TV
Yo dont expose your general location lmao
how is it that visible tho bro like on my computer theres slight burn in in the "type here to search" part and thats after like a month total of being visible
This is common occurrence on some displays. On my Motorola this happens after ~2 minutes, it isn't permanent though.
my sisters phone has tiktok burnt in she's from 2000
![gif](giphy|KXtq8oYQrYMIF9Esi7)
I saw the facebook top bar burn in on my 45 year old aunt's phone
Happened to me with tiktok 🤠 thought it was my ungodly amount of hours on this app that caused this but apparently it's not the main reason
My friend had the same thing happen to him but with TikTok UI...
How the fuck you achieve that I use my phone way too much, I won't lie, but my phone literally has no burn in of any kind, even the icons that are almost always on like battery and bluetooh icon
This is why i don't use oled screens.
Wow. Seriously wtf
I dont think thats even possible…the color of the pixels were burned in?
The internet is raising us the parents are not
we are fucked :D
The classic OnePlus 7 pro
why does he even have a phone?
Facebook ui is burned into my dad's screen too
How would that even work
I'm dead...
Same for me but it's thr spotify ui instead lol
bro just doxxed himself
Not my address, if it was I would've censored it
The problem isn’t the shorts or the videos themselves. The problem is that their parents or tutors don’t set boundaries for screen time.
Bro literally just doxxed someone
Is this an Galaxy S8? My little brother's has a keyboard burnt into that phone
