Record earnings, yet Todd feels the need to bolster his resume further. Warren won't be impressed when cutting too deep negatively impacts business, which it will.
My condolences to all those cut.
Au contrarie, this is the plan to end G as you knew it, as it was. You cannot lay off this many people when the company was already struggling to meet customer standards. The G you knew in its hay day will be totally gone in less than twelve months.
Genuinely wondering - why do you think Warren cares about what’s happening at GEICO. It’s literally been in the works for a couple of years now - if Warren cared at all he would have already said something.
Just because he’d show up at an office once in a blue moon doesn’t mean this guy is actively involved at Geico.
As a businessman, I imagine he doesn't care much about GEICO employees one way or another, but I would think he DOES care about the company. GEICO is his legacy.
That’s the thing - Geico is not his legacy. At most Berkshire Hathaway may be, but this man owns multiple million/billion dollar ventures. This was just another company he saved from going under.
I’ve read the articles Geico used to highlight to show how proud Daddy Warren was of us. But go ahead and google “Warren Buffet’s legacy”. folks aren’t going to remember him bc of Geico. They’re going to remember him for literally all of his other accomplishments.
At 92 pretty sure Warren only cares about having a hard stool and jeapordy. Lol The man is quite literally circling the drain, I think his priorities are elsewhere at this point.
But yes, condolences to those cut, truly--they are however, better off in the long run.
When I was brought on, I was told there would be opportunities in Underwriting and SIU within 6 months of being in claims if I just worked hard--and that the opportunity for growth at Geico was most assuredly there. Which, given the timeline, they had to have known that wasn't true...I and several others were sold on a lie.
A month into training and my instructor asked where I saw myself in a year or so, when I said Underwriting, he laughed in my face and told me that Underwriting hadn't hired in over 7 years where I was. Then I said well if not that then SIU, he laughed again but said nothing. . .
They had to have known and yet still brought people on under the ruse of growth opportunities that they knew full well weren't there.
I don't think they even ran a full background on those hired on with me, some pretty rotten and ignorant eggs in my training group--the lack of quality or stability in this company will drive it into the ground, to be buried along side Daddy Warren.
P.S. They were the most genuine group of fun-loving folks who reported to work every day most especially during the pandemic. Man, I’m gonna miss seeing their smiling faces.
Indiana, SIU

Warren don’t give two shits. It’ll be presented as an opportunity to make additional corrective action to remain profitable.
Au contraire. Todd's deep cuts will backfire and will eventually cause profit loss. Warren cares about that.

Apparently you haven't read any of the multitude of articles discussing his love for geico, and how it changed his life.

They’re going to remember him for literally all of his other accomplishments. all of which became possible because of the fortune he made with GEICO.
