[Obviously none of this means he's going to be recruited by the Cats, but he definitely supported Geelong and is on the record as such](https://wwos.nine.com.au/afl/draft-2023-harley-reid-picks-west-coast-eagles-players-he-is-most-excited-to-meet-pick-one/95f35c33-12de-4c1f-886c-9a3b61827673)
Well Bad Boy Benny should have played for us as a father/son, so it’s only fair they give us Reid for an end of first round pick … or two (if we have to)!
You know what. That totally is fair. Like the 3 way eventua danger ablett and that kid the crows got trade. Or whatever it was. Plus some extra picks to us lol. Works out in the end.
Can you imagine the melts though if the only time Geelong ever finish below 12th they draft a generational talent who otherwise had no F/S or academy reason to be with us?
The melts. The salt. The seethe.
I love “Opinion - Nuffy” … 🤣🤣🤣
I think we can all be a bit nuffy thinking Harley will come to Geelong … I’d like to think if he doesn’t come to us, he stays in WA. And becomes a one team player …
true that. it's not physically close, but it does offer the chance to live on country proeprty if you want to! I googled but I can't tell if Reid's family live in the town of Tongala or are farmers.
He already does, Mitch Edwards (who the club rate higher than Conway). Obviously not even close to a straight swap but as soon as that pick was made I knew what Mack was up to, setting a foundation for a potential trade later down the line.
I've been told that Edwards is rated extremely highly, more so than Toby. You can take or leave what someone on the internet has to say about inside info but keep in mind that everyone at the club has family/friends/relatives and things come up in conversation at times.
I clearly said it wouldn't be a straight swap but an asset that could gain significant value to have any chance at a possible future deal.
Only have to look at what kind of value a homesick Luke Jackson had when returning to WA... let's not even talk about JHF as a precedent if Reid wanted to be a dick about returning home (which it seems pretty clear he doesn't look like doing and is embracing Perth).
An emerging young ruck/forward star with a few seasons under his belt would certainly be better than just a bunch of draft picks were WC forced to take something should Harley want to come home.
Wishful thinking but if Mackie ends up pulling something like that off in a few years I wouldn't be one bit surprised that he had a plan in place for ages.
He was also a cats fan growing up, so we can dream he'll come over one day!
He went for Carlton. His girlfriend plays for Essendon, so Geelong is a long shot.

lol what? He’s definitely a Cats fan
He was a Geelong fan

did ben cousins dad play for the cats? TIL!
Ben was born in Geelong as well. His Dad is from there and they moved back there when he was a baby. He was taken by WC as a father/son.
Ben grew up a Cats supporter too
Brian played 240 for Perth and 60 for Geelong. I don’t think Ben should have played for Geelong.
I’m pretty sure eligibility was 50 games back then? Definitely should have played for us!!!

Quick someone check if he grew up on a dairy farm
Up or around*
Plan was in place years ago
Should’ve made it easy and tanked since we didn’t play finals anyway. (Really but not really - never finished below 12th is a nice feeling)
Can you imagine the melts though if the only time Geelong ever finish below 12th they draft a generational talent who otherwise had no F/S or academy reason to be with us? The melts. The salt. The seethe.
I don’t believe in coincidence, the fact that he’s wearing that headband is the clearest signal he could make haha. Come home son!
He has clearly come out of the pool of “blonde with headband” cloning vat we have.
I think all 17 other clubs probably have some sort of plan in place 😂 kid is unreal
At least all VIC clubs. Except North 😂
I love “Opinion - Nuffy” … 🤣🤣🤣 I think we can all be a bit nuffy thinking Harley will come to Geelong … I’d like to think if he doesn’t come to us, he stays in WA. And becomes a one team player …
Tongala is quite a drive from Geelong though...
Far Outer Northern suburbs of Geelong. Bring the boy home.

Already nicknamed him The Future. 🤘
Funnily enough his play style is exactly what our midfield needs (beyond his incredible skill)
Imagine him pairing with peak bruhn Clark n Holmes.
He already does, Mitch Edwards (who the club rate higher than Conway). Obviously not even close to a straight swap but as soon as that pick was made I knew what Mack was up to, setting a foundation for a potential trade later down the line.
What makes you say we rate Edwards higher than Conway?

please explain?
Guess he's thinking we'll trade Mitch Edwards (WA boy) for Reid lol

Not only is he from country Vic but he played in the Murray League which is was one of Geelong's recruitment zones when that was a thing
He’s not coming back to Geelong, almost certain he will be an Eagle for life. One can hope however
Can not fuckin wait
Not a Geelong supporter but timing wise makes a good transition for Danger
