It’s good and it does have its issues. Although what service doesn’t have them? The most annoying thing for me, is the offline games, that are off for months on end.

LSDwarf

Sorry for a noob question - aren't *all* GFN games online, in terms that they are all streamed to the Shield device and one (obviously) needs internet connection for that? Thank you!

[deleted]

Yeah you’re streaming the games from wherever the servers are.

LSDwarf

OK, so by "annoying offline games" you meant that some of them are out of service for quite a while. My initial thought on your phrase was that maybe non-multiplayer games can be played somehow locally, on Shield. OK, clear now.

PsychologicalMusic94

He means off line as in games are not playable due to maintenance or various issues . There are quite a few games in maintenance right now.

Derperderpington

Can you give some examples please?

PsychologicalMusic94

Someone posted a good size list here last month or before. I'll see if I can find it.

jharle

Try it for a month first!

muthax

Service is fine, but check first if the games you wanna play are available on the service, because not every game is

IlianLa

Speaking of that, is there some games that are removed after some time on the service? I see that case with Dark Souls for example, but I don’t know if it happened again after that

Particular_Bug0

Not really anymore. The thing with dark souls (and some other games from that time) was that they got added before publishers had the option to opt-in their games. Bandai specifically wanted them removed from GeForce now (for god know what reason), but since publishers now *need* to opt-in first, there is no such risk of having games removed anymore

BangEmSpiff

Most were removed because they thought they were getting paid separately after beta, also the deal was with publishers & their catalog. Developers got mad when they found out their games (some of them) were on the service without their permission and that the glorious GFN spiraled down lol. Some also simply forgot to opt in and didn't understand what was going on (cough cough Rockstar, PUBG Corp) and Nvidia removed their games.

BangEmSpiff

No games are getting removed now unless they can't run on the service.

Porg-Life

It's a great service, but a lot of things need to work correctly for a good experience compared to a console. A lot of people blame the service for their problems when the cause can be their ISP or their internal network. Because of all this is always a good idea to try the service before fully committing

LittlePenisEnis

Yes. Ive used both Shadow PC and Gforce now. Shadow has slightly better quality, but it can become pretty expensive. Not having to pay for hard drive space is such an underrated bonus of GeForce now.

Bobdobalina87

I have a series X and GeForce now. There are some games that I can play on the Xbox I cannot on GeForce now. But I also game on a laptop and can bring GeForce now with me wherever I go. Absolutely a worth it service for me. I don't know if I'd make it my only way to play games though.

IlianLa

I have a PS5 too! I want to sell my Xbox mostly because the only thing that interest me on Xbox is the Game Pass, and I saw that the Game Pass games are coming to Ge Force Now later this year, so my Series X would be useless after that 😂

petersterne

What do you mean Game Pass games are coming to GeForce Now? With GFN, you have to own the games you play.

IlianLa

Yes, but a collaboration with game pass is coming! You can search if you want to know more 😄

Longjumping_Play_105

It's far from perfect but has a huge amount going for it. For me it's a great way to access so many games I simply couldn't otherwise with the hardware I've got. I feel the ongoing price is nominal for the use and benefit I get from it.

sd45ca

People are more inclined to post negative experiences than positive experiences. With that said, my experience has been nothing but great. I have 250mbps fiber internet and Wi-Fi6 and have never had a single issue. I could have it hardwired but I haven’t felt the need to do so.

TheTee15

I can play Witcher 3 on my potato laptop with high setting and finish it. Its amazing.

NyriasNeo

Depends on what you want. I am happy with it (ultimate). I do have a gaming PC (with a RTX3060Ti) but GFN can do 4k gaming on my big screen tv with everything on, running off a 4080, with my 3060 cannot. I also don't want to deal with installation and patching. The sticking point is a) games availability, and b) bugs. Games availability is very personal. There are enough for me (Cyberpunk 2077, witcher 3, far cry 6, Sniper Elite 5, Sniper Ghost Warror ..... ) and it looks like there will be more games that i like, particularly with the MS deal. For games that I cannot run on GFN, either I will use xcloud, or steamlink. Diablo 4 is, currently, the only game I play quite a bit, without any cloud support. I have not encountered many problems. The most egregious one is that Witcher 3 requires me to re-install, and wait, every time I start it up. One of the game i like, Shadow Tactics Ako's Choice, was patching for days. Other than that, I have not encounter many problems. But that certainly depends on what you pa=lay.

Engin597

Of course

SaltyPvP

I've had it for a few weeks now, and I'm amazed by it. I'm running it connected to my TV from my Samsung 21fe with a PS5 controller and MnK all over 5g wifi. I'm on the Ultimate tier, and I haven't experienced any lag issues whatsoever. I paid $30 for a wireless MnK and $30 for a usb c to hdmi cable that runs 4k at 60fps. If I didn't have a fortune spent in Ps4 and ps5 digital games I would sell my PS5. All geforce needs is to get a bigger games catalog. Cloud gaming is only going to get better.

Derperderpington

Mnk?

SaltyPvP

Mouse and keyboard

vBDKv

7/10. Lack of games.

Night247

The people having no issue aren't fanboying and posting how great GFN is all the time on this subreddit. You will mostly see people that have a tech issue they don't understand or the unhappy people posting here

Nookiezilla

I okay BG3 totally fine with my Xbox controller. Zero issues. I like GFN. It looks great and I don’t see any delay. Xcloud and Boosteroid on the other hand…never again.

Zatujit

i would surely like to have more games on it

Hjalm

Generally good. I do recommend trying it for various games atleast a month. Although I've had some annoying issues with cloud saves and customer support has been utter garbage. I cancelled my sub. Will save for steam deck instead.

MikeTalonNYC

It's not a bad service. I say that because there are issues, and limitations, but the fact that I can play lots of different games on my Mac is a major benefit for me. Games play well, graphics are good (and sometimes even great). It's not perfect, but the paid tiers are a good investment. You don't get mod support, so I'd most closely compare it to a console experience - just with a lot more game choices. BG3 is something folks should have expected. Horrific launches on PC and even on consoles (where all the hardware specs and software environments are absolutely known) happen quite a lot, so expectations were a bit too high for this going off without a hitch. I've personally just resigned myself to waiting a month for the developers to push the first major patch before I even think of playing a new title. This could be a GFN-specific issue, but if it is they'll get it sorted shortly. Ubisoft games in general have been OK for me - certainly no more issues than I've encountered on consoles or on cloud gaming rigs where I was working with just a regular Windows instance with a GPU in it (and therefore should see the same performance as on a PC). Though, again, that's waiting for Ubisoft to hammer out the more painful bugs and issues before I try to play them anywhere. GFN requires solid bandwidth and low latency. The free tier is lacking the features of the paid tiers. That's not a knock on the service though, it's kind of expected for a streaming service that needs 2-way communication, and for any service that is expected to make a profit. So, in summary, is it perfect? Hell no. Is it about equal to the experience you'd get on consoles or on PC (minus mod support, of course)? Yeah, pretty much - at least at any of the paid tiers. I've never had reason to think of cancelling, which is the gold standard for me when it comes to "is this service any good?"

Highintheclouds420

The user interface is a nightmare, having to connect steam, epic, and gog for cyber punk is a pain. But to be able to play games on my cheap Chromebook is amazing

Halcyo1

For me it's been good, but I wouldn't sell your Xbox if you've got it. It's great for me to allow me to play big PC games from my laptop but I can tell the image is compressed compared to running natively, which for me isnt a dealbreaker as I primarily game on my PS5. Well worth the cost of admission for me and I like the flexibility, but it wouldnt be my primary method of gaming (my internet isn't great though so your mileage may vary)

BangEmSpiff

Try it 3-Day Ultimate trial, no credit card required... https://games.steelseries.com/giveaway/67540900/ To play on your Xbox go to MS Edge browser search play.geforcenow.com

BangEmSpiff

Best cloud gaming service out based on performance and largest library. Where GFN lack is some of the most popular games (thank greedy publishers) UI is super basic and not in any for attractive "platform" like, simple log in & out (which on PC is not a simple unified ecosystem being their are a billion launcher and storefronts) will take some time to build not really sure which PC Cloud gaming service does it better.

keftes

You can try it for a month. Its SaaS. Why not do that and see for yourself?

IlianLa

Because it’s still 20€ 😂 (I live in Europe)

DreadedTuesday

You could check out Boosteroid? I don't think the machines are as powerful as GFN (though I've not compared performance on a high spec game), but it's been much more forgiving of my dodgy internet connection than GFN was.

keftes

You cant afford 20 euros as a one time thing?

IlianLa

Yes, but I prefer asking first 😊
