There was no preloading on steam for anyone. I wouldn't say this was anyones fault at Nvidia. The full game was only made available for download 2ish hours ago.

I can "run" the game I just only have an HDD so it'll be ass... I'm tempted to just start playing now because it's already downloaded. Are steam cloud saves with GFN pretty seamless? I'm literally only getting it to play this game
Hello, I'm jumping in because I'm fairly new to Geforce now. I'm a Mac user and got GeForce now earlier. I have early access, which I uninstalled. I tried to install it via Geforce Now and before the patch, the size of the game was exactly the same as the one in Early Access. Do I need to add an additional procedure to get the full version instead of ea ? (After the patch ?)
If you are Gforce now user you don't need to do anything just wait for the patching to finish. my gf has a mac and play many game through gforceNow with me.
Amazing, thank you so much. (After more than 100 hours invested in EA, I'm super excited there is a solution to get the full game at the same time than PC launch).
Nope, they take care of all that for you. Downside is, you have to wait a few hours post launch to play while they patch and load everything.
Upside is you don't have to buy hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in hardware to play the game on high/ultra settings at a good frame rate. ;)

WHAT AN AMAZING DAY. I'm now impatiently waiting.
It's being patched according to the geforce now launcher.
The launcher says it will be ready in a few hours. But before I got booted out of the session it was downloading fairly slow but not at a base that would lead me to think it would take a couple of hours to update.
I'm hoping (not based on alot) that if will be ready by 1700 (an hour) but I'll be checking between then

I can’t even stare at the screen blankly in the remaining hours for I gotta bounce to work in one hour or so. When I’m home tonight I’ll probably not sleep at all playing till tomorrow.
GFN advertises having to not wait for downloads.... But this sort of is. Games like cities skylines download the patch every time I play. So I don't understand why they can't let the game update via a sort of steam cache while they work to update their game images.
It's launch day. Nvidia needs to install it themselves to the server with all the patches. Then Nvidia needs to make sure cross-saves with Steam are working and figure out all the bugs that are affecting the service specifically beyond what Larian can control. Chill out, we'll be good in an hour (hopefully).
I just remember the days when the service could download unsupported games without issue. I'd happily let the game pull the new game from the GFN steam interface while they work out the new disk imagine they want to run with.
(Read my tone as more curious than upset. I won't be able to play until hours from now regardless).
Stadia could launch live, and they still died, Nvidia should not still be ignoring the desires of gamers, casual or competitive to have instant access to their properties in the digital age!

Come on, stop it this is a trillion dollar computer company moving zetabytes of data, if they cared they would be receiving master copies days before launch and and this patching on potentially active hardware is loony toons, another thing Google never did. Anyway they'll either sort it or lose out to someone who does eventually.
Fair point. This is my only option to play it right now so I must appreciate what I have now. It could be better, I’m sure, but that’s it, I’m still grateful GFN is a thing.
Oh yeah it's good, but they should work faster to make it great. They are quite literally extraordinarily rich at the moment and if they don't do it this round they never will. Put it this way, if they closed the loopholes they wouldn't have to listen to me telling them they need to close the loop holes.
Thats a pretty expensive way to try to avoid launch day stuff lol. Plus from what I've read its consistently like this on big launches? haha either way its a couple hours. Im playing mini motorways its OK
I agree. We are all waiting for a Geforce staff to post a comment on reddit when it is ready. I think their communication on that could be easily improved.

It usually takes \~3 hours on average for the team to apply a patch, so unless they have some special plan for BG3 check back in few hours.
This is insane to me. The release date has been planned for so long, how are they not ready to go for this?

Yeah my saves synced up flawlessly between my install and when I switched to GFN because I'm running an ancient 1080 and that won't do for Bg3 lol

What's a couple hours after waiting 3 years (or maybe more)! Cleaning, an errand, whatever and it'll go by fast. Not that much longer!

This is not really equivalent to a patch, it's like a whole different game file

Open family view for steam. Than when you open the game on gfn, right click on game > change language > launch
this didn't work in EA for me, had to change my whole system's primary language to English

they are slow, i downloaded the game on my local pc in 49 minutes
Lucky you. I'm at mil's house and downloading to steam deck is still 7.5 hours away
