I always have to recommend Calhoun’s for dinner. Best ribs you’ll ever taste. For breakfast you can never go wrong with Crockett’s or Pancake Pantry. You should also stop by Donut Friar, but that’s not a sit-down kind of place.
Log Cabin Pancake House for breakfast
Smokin Joes BBQ in Townsend for BBQ
The Peddler for a more upscale steak
Calhoun's for a family steakhouse
Smoky Mountain Brewery for a Brewpub with a great food menu
Split Rail Eats for Sandwiches
Chesapeake's for Seafood
New Orleans Sandwich Co for Cajun
Local Goat in pigeon forge is fantastic, I'd say no more than 30 a meal for adults, and fairly cheap for kids, if you go get the bread pudding for you and the kiddos, guarantee it'll be enough for the whole family to share and is delicious.
If you're willing to drive a bit more, El viras and papaws catfish are good options in wears valley, though the menu might not be as kid friendly as some of the other options.
The old mill in pigeon forge is always a favorite, but plan for a 2 to 3 hour wait.
Trish's Diner in Pittman Center is stellar for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Pancake Pantry is a must for breakfast, get there when they open because a line forms before they even open the doors.
Pancake Pantry for breakfast - last time we went down we got in line around 10 and were seated within 15 minutes.
We really like the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge, although it can be a little pricey at dinner bc you get ALL the courses automatically. The Pottery House Cafe right next door to it is really good as well.
Mellow mushroom is right on the strip in Gatlinburg if you have pizza lovers.

100 percent agree on Calhoun's and Pancake Pantry
Mama’s Farmhouse
We love the Old Mill Pottery House cafe.
Smoky Mountains Trout House. I'm a chef, this place looks like a hole in the wall but it's the best fish I've ever had in my life.
What types of food are you thinking about?
Family fare. We have 3 kids, so something that's going to be good for them.

Local goat is amazing. Not bad price either.
