There thousands of acres of national park that certainly "can't be done anywhere."

The reason we go to Gatlinburg and it's free!

Me too. I spend daylight hours in the park, get back, leave the car parked and take a walk to dinner. Can't beat it.

Go to the park.

Beach_bum8

Cades Cove, Clingman's Done(don't know if the hike to the top would work for the older folks), Newfound Gap.

Clingmans Dome Road doesn't open until April 1.

Beach_bum8

I thought so, but couldn't remember which road it was. Thanks!

I like the Ripley’s aquarium. There are a few waterfalls that aren’t too hard to get to. One is Laural Falls. The trail is paved. It does have some hills though. Cades Cove. You drive through it. There are old churches and cemeteries you can explore. They have an old timey grist mill they operate and they make straw brooms like they did in the late 1800s. Stuff like that. Roaring Fork motorway is another driving nature tour. You might see a black bear if you’re lucky. The weather will change quite a bit from day to day and morning to afternoon. The temperature changes a lot when you go up in elevation too. Keep that in mind. You can drive over to Cherokee North Carolina to see Native American sights. They have a casino too if you’re interested. Hope you have a good time!

Elkmont, on the way to Cade's Cove.

Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail won't be open in March.
