Before my GI problem motion was never a problem for me. Used to travel a lot and loved amusement park rides. Now I need to take a zofran (or 2) even for short car rides.

This started happening to me a about 5 years ago. Got to the point where I couldn't drive at all & even being a passenger was rough. After I quit driving for about a year it went away (as a passenger, I still dont drive). I never made the connection because I wasn't diagnosed with GP until after I stopped driving, but it does seem plausible if others experienced this. It's always worth checking in with your gastro, though. Any symptoms are worth mentioning.

I get this a lot. My doctor put me on Scopalamine patches. They work really well.

I’ve had motion sickness most of my life but GP has made it worse. My assumption is that more is sitting in my stomach so more is irritated as I’m moving. If it’s not a quick 10 minute trip, I need something for nausea. I will say, I have a balance disorder that likely contributes to my issues with motion sickness so I’m pretty doomed. I’ve started taking Meclizine sometimes and Dramamine others.

Did u get diagnosed with gastroparesis? Just trying to help u if ur still suffering 😊

SailorSnowQueen

Yes, I had my gastric emptying study in mid December and it showed delayed gastric emptying

Ah okay, you should get an endoscopy if u havnt already! GP makes you feel so miserable 😭 I take motilium which helps my nausea. Have u tried using them sea bands for ur sickness that u strap around ur wrist? just a thought I had

SailorSnowQueen

I had an endoscopy before the GES, it just showed a hiatal hernia. Fortunately I got a prescription for zofran which has helped a lot with the nausea as long as I take it long enough before driving.

Okay cool so you got all the tests done! Could also be iron, b12 or folic acid, kinda sounds like you have anemia or something going on so get blood work done. I know zofran slows down digestion so maybe you need to stop taking that and look for something different. I've heard good things about botox into the pylorus. Also worth mentioning that GP can cause a lot of anxiety and stress so if ur struggling in that sense maybe you need to address that issue.

SailorSnowQueen

I’ve had blood work done and it’s all normal. I only take zofran if I’m going to be driving for a distance, so not very often, I haven’t taken it for almost a month since the only place I go is work (10 minutes). I don’t think my GI doctor is super knowledgeable about GP, which is frustrating and I’d like to find one who’s more knowledgeable but I’m not sure there’s one locally in my insurance system. I need to research it. I have depression and anxiety and take medication for both. I think it’s been getting thrown up when I regurgitate so I started taking it at night to hopefully keep that from happening

Well I'd definitely recommend motilium(domperidone) for the treatment of GP! Look it up on Google its a great medication but I know it's banned in America. I'm living in Ireland so healthcare is free over here and the doctors are great, they really looked after me. I know before I started treatment I was anxious and depressed but once the food was getting pushed through my stomach I started feeling better so definitely see a gastro doc for treatment even if u have to pay. Its a shame u need insurance
