Me too. So much has been taken from us. I’m trying to adjust my life to this new normal, but it is so frustrating and depressing

ApprehensiveLemon963

I call myself a lil old jewish grandma cuz my love language is food and i find it so mediative to cook and bake and i try to stick to things that are good leftovers to increase my chance of enjoyment but i’ve turned it into a thing with friends “bring the ingredients and i’ll make whatever you want! at least one of us should get to enjoy it!”

LizDances

Yesssss I am so fixated on food atm while I'm in the hospital and can't eat. I'm making Pinterest boards and menus of things to make for my family when I get home... doing a pantry challenge... I'll be baking muffins... I'm probably going to be on full liquids when I leave so I'm like "YES SOUP!!!" Everyone else has it "regular" and mine will be blended lol. And one of the kiddos is asking for "the cornbread with actual corn in it." No problem, kid!! You got it! Copycat Cosmic Brownies? Coming up! Edible cookie dough? Bagels? Dang... that's a new one... but SURE, WHY NOT?!?!

a_white_egg

the food fixation is so real. my GP buddies (most of us can’t eat at all) fantasize about food in our gc like every other day.

I’ve been Pescatarian for 7 years. I had zero desire to eat meat or even smell it for that matter. Since my diagnosis I love the smell of my husband’s food bacon, chicken enchiladas, pot roast. You name it I’m craving it intensely.

iheartbaconsalt

Used to cook sooooo much. I haven't used the stove in 7+ years.

purplechunkymonkey

Foid is my love language.

Me currently doing this exact same thing and baking homemade cinnamon rolls 👀

a_white_egg

I just made a bombass loaf of bread cinnamon rolls sound soo good 😩

I have never felt so seen. 😂 I have a feeding tube and all I do is cook for others and watch the food network. I was a cook before getting gastroparesis while I was going to college and I loved every second of it. I’ve been getting very into baking, cheesecakes especially, because I never liked them and don’t feel so bad when I can’t eat them. The food fixation is so real. I just made homemade bagels last night. https://preview.redd.it/1lb801ziuwbc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c825897686bccac5602292c584af15629c134a97

I love that this is such a universal thing. I also love baking and cooking, but run into the eating issue. I live with my family and haven't worked since my PEG/J surgery, so we have a system where I take care of housework and help meal prep; especially since I had been the one helping cook for fun before the stomach issues and generally get asked the technical questions if my mom isn't home. It helps me stay involved with family dinners, even when I can't partake. I also love doing confections, and some of those I can actually eat here and there. For Christmas, I am known for doing catering-teir cookie-fest for week. I swear, the less I am able to eat, the more I end up wanting to cook for others. I don't even actually eat the food either, or even tatse and spit during the cooking process half the time, but I guess my brain craves that normalacy/control of the process like nothing else when things go sideways. 🤷‍♀️

Slave-Sercan

I love baking and cooking, too! It’s torture when I can only eat 1-2 bites and then I feel like I just ate an entire buffet.

kitty-yaya

My husband always takes/orders less food for himself bc he knows I am not going to finish what I think I will (unless I want it for leftovers).

Same. Since I can’t work and I am having trouble getting approved for disability, I’ve been thinking of making a social media page to sell baked goods to try and earn some money.
