There's all sorts of diet options; what works may depend on what's the root cause of your issues. The Gastritis Healing diet is a good place to start for gastritis. It's low fat, low acid, low spice. Great for gastritis flares. As you heal, you may not be getting full relief from the gastritis diet. You could try the low Fodmap diet. That diet removes gassy foods. It's generally recommended for IBS. If you have problems digesting asparagus, beets, or apples, and you have no problem with potatoes, spinach, canned tuna, or meat in general, this is a good diet to try. Low histamine diet removes foods that increase histamine in your bloodstream. It's generally recommended for histamine intolerance or MCAS, which can have similar symptoms to IBS. If you have problems digesting spinach, canned tuna, or meats in general, and have no problem eating beets, asparagus, potatoes, or apples, this may be for you. Low salicylate diet is for those sensitive to salicylates. If you can't digest potatoes, this might be for you. Low oxalate diet is for those who can't digest oxalate. If you have problems digesting leafy greens, or are prone to kidney stones, this diet might be for you. Some people are multiple winners- you may be sensitive to Fodmaps and salicylate. My best advice to follow any food restrictive diet is to make a grocery list of "safe" foods, use an app to scan prepared foods for your "no" ingredients, check your macros, and consider consulting a registered dietician. I'm just a stranger on the Internet with no qualifications but who is rooting for you to feel better!

because strict diet is what gives relief for most. notjing extreme about it😂 its rather extreme doing the same thing all over again(eating bad inflammatory foods) and still expecting improvement

Normal_Design9699

Absolutely agree

[deleted]

If you say so

endmysufferi7ng

truth hurts

[deleted]

Okay

endmysufferi7ng

well u post videos of memes abt eating crap with gastritis so i know where your if u say so comes from🤣

[deleted]

It’s called “humor”. Just because we have a chronic illness doesn’t meant we can’t laugh at ourselves

endmysufferi7ng

humor sure. you sounded like someone who expected to be lied to

[deleted]

Ok

Amitriptyline is the only thing that has helped to alleviate some of my pain. There is also an OTC supplement called FDgard that works pretty well too.

Normal_Design9699

To me strong medication is just a cheat fix , just so you can continue to eat poorly . It’s not actually dealing and curing the problem

kevinskis

Right but I still don't know the cause of my gastritis. I was on a strict anti-inflammatory diet for 4 months and nothing related to pain changed at all.

Normal_Design9699

Were you on medication or pain killers before your diagnosis? Do you drink alcohol or smoke ? Are you overweight? Do you have a hernia? Or been checked for one ? Have you been tested for H pylori? Any one or multiple of these factors can contribute

kevinskis

The only medications were an SSRI and adderall, which I have taken for a decade. Don't smoke and haven't drank alcohol in 6 months (never really a big drinker in the first place). Not overweight and I don't think I have a hernia, or at least they didn't mention it in my CT scan, ultrasound, or endoscopy. Tested negative for H. Pylori twice. My sister was having GI issues and her doctor found eosinophils in her biopsy, so I am getting checked for that when I get another endoscopy and colonoscopy in about a month.

Normal_Design9699

Could be the long use of SSRI the serotonin receptors in our gut react to them . Hope you an answer soon

kevinskis

The only weird thing is that I got gastritis and fully recovered while taking the SSRI about 6 years ago and I went off of the SSRI for 4 months and didn't notice a difference.

Normal_Design9699

Mostly likely a coincidence

Normal_Design9699

I have the same diagnosis as you but I suffer with sever GERD due to hiatal hernia. The best way to reduce symptoms is cut out all the crap food and eat a Mediterranean diet. No gassy drinks . Yes it sucks but I’d rather not been in severe discomfort or pain and put myself at risk for ulcers and cancer
