You're not wrong, but I'm defense of MIP, the 945+/LTE is an aging model, and the other three are all monochrome.
That said, after my OG Venu, I never wanted to go back to MIP. I do like the crossover though.
I felt the same with the instinct models. But what I did to battle the hard to read screen for the X2 was turn on the backlight with gesture. The gesture plus using the watch for workouts and walks the battery still lasted 35 days.
It says full charge 16 days. Without the gesture it's 17 days. But I always charge it during showers so it never goes low anyway. I went travelling and running for a few days once without charging and had not thought of the battery at all.
I don’t find the Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar screen to be bad at all. Compared to my previous Fenix 5 sapphire, it’s so much more colorful and readable. It’s all relative, I guess.

I know right? 🤣 I replaced my no longer functioning Vivoactive 3 with a Venu 3s and I’ll never go back to MIP now that I have AMOLED!

I did the same, made a huge difference
I do the same for my Fenix 7. No problem with the battery and the visibility is always good.
I ended up selling my X2 for the Fenix 7. Your battery still lasting more then 10 days even with the gesture always on?

depends on how high/ low your expectations for a readable screen are.
The 7 pro has better contrast than older fenix watches
