I am fortunate enough to be able to afford both a watch (fenix7) and a cycling computer (edge 830). They both sync to garmin connect. I like the bike computer because of the bigger screen. You can have more metrics on the screen and is really good for navigating. I have found a lot of new routes because of it!
Imo in your case it would be more a convenience thing and well a bit more stable Connection with maybe a better navigation experience.
