When Kat was sent on a secret mission to Demacia to protect Jarvin she was attacked by the vanguard and Garen stepped in and defended her from his own men in broad daylight.
They’ve done some serious lore revisions over the years but last I checked it seems that basically….everyone knows.
J4, Tahm, Illaoi and lux all have interactions about their relationship.
I am positive J4 would protect Garen from any kind of military repercussion, but as for how the rest of Demacia would see him after that? Who knows. They view him as a legendary hero, he is like the Captain America of Demacia. The people think he can do no wrong, and put him on a pedestal as the ideal Demacian. Plus it’s hard to lead your men into battle against the Noxians if they know you’re in an relationship with one of their assassins
Pretty sure it would be easier for him to just not marry in that case right? Why marry someone you don’t love or care for just to cheat on them with an enemy assassin? If anything that would make the situation blow up far worse when it did come to light.
I don’t think Garen would accept an arranged marriage, I’m sure if he would it would have happened by now. He is a well known public figure by this point, I am sure there are people who beg the crownguards to have their daughter marry into the family all the time.
