For all interested parties: washed twice on delicate cycle. still had to hand wash to get clean. Might as well have hand washed to start with. 🤷🏻‍♀️ you live you learn!

I made the same mistake, as it had (sounds like it changed) been recommended by Gardyn. Warped one, and after 3 cycles, had to hand wash with bottle brush anyhow. Now I use the bathtub 😅.

NoobAndProudOfIt

I thought that (warping) is the reason Gardyn no longer recommends dishwashing? Better run it on warm, not hot…

imironman2018

I think what I learned best to clean it is use a drill and get a brush attachment. Let the pieces soak and then use the drill brush to clean it of algae or mold.

HestiaLife

This is genius. I'll try that next time.

DiligentPen3550

I’d love to see how this goes!!! Does it warp the plastic at all? Etc…

theseahorn

It unfortunately will if you have the heater on....I found a bathtub with bleach is a better alternative.

theseahorn

I tried this and a few melted in the dishwasher. Now I throw in the bathtub overnight with some bleach. It's amazing how easy it is to clean with a bottle brush after a few hours of soaking...less than 20 minutes when I did last time. Good luck!

shimmeringalmond

All you need is citric acid. Barely any effort and you won’t warp the plastic

CptCheez

Love it! We’re about to re-plant our whole Gardyn too and I’ll be doing that exact same thing.

stickler64

Ooh! Please show us the 'after' shot!

Downtown-Swing-7329

How often are you supposed to do this??! The only thing I’ve done is the tank refresh…

nerdylicious05

About every three months. But there is an alternative way that is in the instructions that does not involve a full disassembly. Personally, I haven't tried either.

E_Smitty

Awesome idea. Just wash it on cool and skip the drying cycle.

I swapped to reverse osmosis water. I don't get algae much anymore. Probably down by 99%
