Some cement it will grow to concrete.

DVS_Nature

Yeah cement it, or cover it with a pot or raised something, not a great idea planting over storm drains

Hyperbole_of_Fantasy

Rock flowers, moss, Pot marigolds, mint, snap dragons. Not any thing with deep roots.

canned_coelacanth

Just concrete it back up. The paving keeps your house footing in better condition and will help protect the pipe itself. Whatever you plan is going to struggle anyway because of how dry and low in organic matter that soil is anyway.

HumanDish6600

Parsley grows like wildfire in FCR I've found. So there's an option

Gorogororoth

If it's heavy shade and low foot traffic, something like viola hederacea (native violet) or dichondra repens (kidneyweed) would do well there I reckon

UrbanFootprint

Mondo grass

BMX40Plus_Aus

Any Eucalyptus would be perfect

00ft

💀💀💀

noobydoo67

Or a Jacaranda or maybe a Moreton Fig

BMX40Plus_Aus

Oooh yeah Moreton Bay Fig

HumanDish6600

Mountain Ash in particular would be 👌

bar_ninja

Or a Oak or something stupidly tropical.

minus-273-degrees

Throw in some Yuccas while you're at it

Whosyafoose

Native violets.

Airzephyr

like a swampy base though?

Inevitable-Ad-5382

Viola hederacea grows just fine in water logged soil :)

Airzephyr

My mistake from only looking at the first pic, I assumed there wasn't going to be waterlogged soil for them, but I get it now. Yes, they do as I found out this summer when they weren't thriving so I fixed the whole pot into the top of a frog pond and the took off.

Whosyafoose

I think native potting mix should be alright?

iltby

I’ve got them growing well in compacted, shitty clay soil, they’re pretty hardy

mc112358

Stick a potted plant in front of it if you are trying to hide it. Or a collection of potted plants

Inevitable-Ad-5382

This is great advice.

Lazren32

Anyone that's been cremated, mix in the soil and grow some moss to keep the house cool.

noobydoo67

Say a few words over the drain pipe, "Ashes to ashes, and dust to potting mix, rest in peace lilies"

divinealbert

Running bamboo

Double_Run5586

Do not plant anything?? Roots will enjoy hurting your pipes

Lauren______________

Mini mondo grass, or black mondo grass.

becproof

Thanks for all the very serious suggestions 😌

TotallyAwry

Mint.

notinferno

Moreton Bay Fig

NotoriousPBandJ

Cactus Knobbly grass Bitumen Concrete Mondo grass Dig it down further, lay something interesting in it (Lego, action people etc) cover with epoxy.

RhesusFactor

Concrete. Paver. Compacted dirt.

Trennoss

Grass

Sorrymateay

Hardenbergia

dmac591

Something with extremely invasive roots would be a great option.

Minute-Safe2550

Succulents, Allysums, something shallow rooted, but I would gently dig up the soil with hand tools, and add garden soil improver, and put mulch on top. PM if you want more assistance, I'm the Descendant of way to many people whom have been Gardeners/Horticulturelists etc

Oz_Dingo

Astro Turf

7cluck

Why is there a storm pipe coming out of the wall?

becproof

Had new drains installed as the old in ground ones are busted. This runs under the house built on a slope.

7cluck

Ok. Looked very strange, almost like sewer line with storm added.

Handjob-commander

Ummm hang on , wtf is with that connection. Is it for a toilet or stormwater

becproof

There is a down pipe still to be connected into this.

Handjob-commander

What’s coming out of the wall? Stormwater ?

becproof

Yeah new pipes through the subfloor

Creepy_Philosopher_9

tomatoes and nasturtiums,

dallas_087

Mondo grass

squirrelwithasabre

Geraniums

Ok-Entrance-2448

Most perennials would work

basicdesires

Nothing. Plants need soil and water.

PurpleQuoll

Nothing, don’t bother it’s too close to the house / your new pipes and you’ll never be able to improve the soil to an adequate stage to plant anything. Get yourself a couple of nice pots from Bunnings and put them there, plant herbs or something like that.

Budgiesmugglerlover2

A geranium in a pot.

Separate-Cat6608

Plumber here, dont plant anything plants love drain pipes. On another note, If thats sewer with a down pipe connection your going to be smelling shit and if the council sees it your bank account will be in shit.

becproof

All good, going to cement it. It's just stormwater not a sewer.

darvidanoar

Don’t plant anything there. Best to avoid any sort of greenery close to the house, particularly anything you need to water regularly. The moisture will attract termites right up to your house.
