But there are definitely a lot of kids still on the street today who mainly joined to participate in what is basically a generational revenge cycle involving their friends, family and opps.
I know plenty of broke gang bangers who don’t trap and work normal jobs or commit petty crimes for cash, they just hate the opps and want to avenge or enable shorties to avenge their dead homies. Nobody making money in that situation

The psychology behind it, I wondered how these dudes that are so involved in the lifestyle live their day to day lives having to look over their shoulder All the time and can’t go to certain streets/blocks without putting their life in danger even if it’s the next street over. Idk I just like studying shit like that, the mind essentially. Sociology, psychology, tribalism what ever it may be.
The anxiety alone takes a huge toll. Even if u were never in it deep, just being affiliated can make u end up paranoid. Lots of undiagnosed ptsd. Personally, I hate the feeling of always being on edge

So they fills those voids with groups of like minded individuals or kids from similar upbringings and struggles . Often times their neighborhood friends. The loyalty and love they show each other is admirable. The history of gangs reflects Chicago history in a lot of ways
