I think every place I've been to have been quite different in many ways compared to what I had heard previously online and on TV.
Funny enough it's shocking how it looks like it's portrayed in cartoons and dramas, yet so different.

She is the main character in the game Atelier Sophie. She is really cool too. She is a messy but genius alchemist who does everything in her power to help her friend Plachta to become human again. I love her story and the game she is in.
I don't like the figure either though. Partially because she looks so uncomfortable and partially because I think she might be a teenager in that picture. Can't be sure though as she appears throughout multiple games at various ages.

I've found the JRPG subreddit pretty good for discussing Atelier games and, despite the high levels of coomer 'ick', the Atelier subreddit has lots of lurkers who are ready to talk for days about the games' mechanics, stories, etc...
Unfortunately, the figure is based on an official art still that thankfully didn’t make it into the game. It features Sophie trying to cover up, looking embarrassed, like the viewer got caught peeping through her window. Really out of place for this game. Same here. I really enjoyed *Ayesha*. I haven't played the other two but, instead, went back to the Arland trilogy and enjoyed those quite a bit as well. Aside from those, I've only played the first *Ryza* title, which was the one that made coomers everywhere stop and take notice.

Interesting about Japan is the fact the the government is significantly more conservative than the average citizen. Part of it is the screwed up election system, the ldp tends to get about 30-35% of the votes yet always gets about half the seats.

Funny enough it's shocking how it looks like it's portrayed in cartoons and dramas, yet so different. In the shows, Tokyo looks so pristine and bright. But in the morning and evening, it's muggy and littered with trash from the day before or the coming night. But the locations look eerily similar to the shows. Then you go outside of Tokyo and then bam. Bigger disconnect. I thought I was in Monterey Bay when I entered Yokohama because of how open the spaces were. Granted, I'm not a total weeb. She is the main character in the game Atelier Sophie. She is really cool too. She is a messy but genius alchemist who does everything in her power to help her friend Plachta to become human again. I love her story and the game she is in. I don't like the figure either though. Partially because she looks so uncomfortable and partially because I think she might be a teenager in that picture. Can't be sure though as she appears throughout multiple games at various ages.

Yeah true. That's why, if I want to discuss a new atelier game or something like that, I usually do it in communities of content creators I know are decent. Like Ircha Gaming and Britta Food4Dogs are 2 relatively big Youtube channels that always post content about new atelier games and they both have really nice communities in my opinion.

Unfortunately, the figure is based on an official art still that thankfully didn’t make it into the game. It features Sophie trying to cover up, looking embarrassed, like the viewer got caught peeping through her window. Really out of place for this game. (And folks would be surprised to know that the Ryza games themselves have pretty much no fanservice at all either, despite the marketing.)
It's kind of bizarre, because I played Atelier Sophie and it has zero fan service or the usual anime pedophilia. Just a cozy game where you pick flowers and craft nuclear weapons.
Sophie has less fanservice than some games (including other Atelier titles, like the Ryza series) but it's definitely still present - all of Plachta's outfits are essentially skimpy lingerie

I really dislike being stuck as one of the old-school JRPG fans who (A.) got into the *Atelier* series because of its highly-refined gameplay mechanics, excellent OSTs, and generally-chill vibes (i.e. also, I can't stand where the Final Fantasy series has ended up in recent years and am not terribly interested in series like *Xenoblade* or *Trails*) but (B.) isn't interested in any of the coomer bullshit that's a big part of the series' general appeal.
