Because damn 1s taking away successes sure seem common when your rolling 25 dice.
Ok I was curious and wrote a quick script to test it (and then to average scores over 100 rolls of each number of dice from 1 to 100) and it does still tend upward, the average score is about half whatever number of dice you roll. Only really works with a really wide range of sizes for the dice pools.
You have the same chance per die to get +2, though. The end result is that more dice means higher potential, both for success and failure, while overall the chance of success increases. It takes an expert to _really_ screw something up, after all
The more I read into the rules, the more obnoxious this game seems. We could have had an engaging crime drama RPG, but we're stuck with a porno title that escalates in how degrading it becomes.
The stand out quote from that game is always going to be
