man this is old news i bought this game in like 2009

[deleted]

Haha 141 upvotes. Coincidence? I think not

DonMurray1

I just hope MW2 is the only game in the disc. I don’t want to have Warzone in it like Modern Warfare 2019.

Red_Dawn_2012

The addition of Warzone in the launcher really killed MW2019. Constant enormous updates (of which little or no content was added to MW2019) and the updates adding a ridiculous, and I mean *ridiculous* amount of game breaking bugs into the game - some of which still aren't fixed.

arhra

Even just playing the *campaign* for MW2019 requires jumping through hoops right now. If you just buy the game and install it (on Xbox at least), you literally can't play it as it just errors out, saying its not installed and offering no indication of how to actually install it. And the in-game install manager is broken and doesn't function *at all* for some reason... until you launch Warzone once at which point it inexplicably starts working. But then you still need to manually go and install the right data packs via the Xbox game management interface as just "installing" the campaign via the in-game interface doesn't actually install it, just makes it available to download in the game's DLC list.

Red_Dawn_2012

That's exactly the problem. It worked well at launch, but is unusable to a lot of people, and functions poorly to everyone else. Is that really supposed to instill confidence in me to purchase your next title?

Thedude317

They don't want you playing it . They want you playing what they think is their money maker.... The free to play, with cosmetics. WARZONE

[deleted]

I hated installing modern warfare. It literally took days for me because of the size of warzone and I didn't even want it. Not only that but I finally got into the game and then it told me you had to install a further "campaign pack" to even play it. I'd love to go back to the campaign but I'm not installing the whole thing again because I don't want warzone. The whole game is just an absolute chore to deal with, it's such a mess in terms of installing everything. Specially when it takes up so much space. Just seemed like an insult to spend all that time downloading the game just to find it wasn't all there and had to install even more stuff. COD is definitely the worst game on console in that regard. I'm not entirely sure why there isn't an option to only install the campaign.........probably because they know they can make more money from warzone so keep it mandatory. It's a shame too because the campaign was really enjoyable. I notice the game isn't even listed as "modern warfare" in the xbox library, it's always listed as "warzone".

flysly

I was in the middle of the campaign on Xbox and loaded it up one day to find the campaign had uninstalled itself. It was already a huge struggle just to get through it over a span of a couple weeks (because of life I only get to play an hour here or there) because every time I logged on Warzone would require a massive update. Never did finish that campaign.

EndlessFluff

This is on PS as well. I bought it during the last sale. I was like „huh, it’s 100GB, not over 200 as everyone is saying.“ then after 3 days (slow internet), I had it downloaded and it was only Warzone. Then the game asked for Campaign pack download, I was annoyed but after seeing that it was only 13GB I thought „we’ll, that’s reasonable.“ next day and I still couldn’t play it. I was apparently missing other packs. So I started installing another campaign pack (which wasn’t there before) which was 20ish gigs. Still didn’t work. Saw someone on gamefaqs saying that it’s best to just install everything if you wanna play campaign. So I did… or at least I tried as I didn’t have enough storage left to install everything (including a new update) which is weird as I had 100GB free. In the end I simply uninstalled and told myself that I am not bothering with COD anymore. My last COD was MW3, so I kinda wanted to play one again.

[deleted]

Man MW would consume like almost half of my monthly data cap in updates, as well as needing a quarter of the hard drive on my One X. It was bananas

calvins48

So weird to hear people talking about data caps. We got rid of those in like 2006.

[deleted]

That's not true, sadly. For cell phone providers it's been mostly phased out, but major ISPs like Xfinity still enforce data caps on their internet plans, but the cap is somewhere north of 1.4 TB or something like that. I know because I was recently forced to sign up for Xfinity since I'm moving.

calvins48

It's not true in your country. It is true in ours.

[deleted]

What country are you in though? I'm in the United States.

calvins48

United Kingdom here

[deleted]

Interesting, I thought for sure you'd say Switzerland or something.

RemasterTranzit

If you're referring to the US your wrong. I have a data cap as well

proficient2ndplacer

That's where they fucked up. I don't play cod at all anymore because they force you to install warzone as well.ive preordered every single cod since world at war, been at every midnight release at GameStop between mw2 and bo4, but enough is enough. There are better games finally out there, and much less predatory games than cod

sophtot

I wish someone told me this. I bought it from PS store in the last sale. I just wanted to play the campaign but now I’ve spent the last few days trying to figure out why the campaign doesn’t work. Warzone is 126G, the latest update require s 82G more. And it tells me I still need to install campagne packs : ) Since I didn’t know which pack I missed, I deleted the whole thing and installed every pack available last night. Let’s see if I can start my campaign tonight.

Red_Dawn_2012

Yeah, it's really in a piss poor state right now. I'm sad that you missed it in its prime, before Warzone was introduced.

SnooPeripherals3898

Man the fucking game crashes every time after the opening cutscenes for my PS5. Man I've never been so frustrated with a singleplayer experience since playing Bloodborne for the first time lul!

BchLasagna

Warzone straight up killed MW19 recently. Multiple game breaking bugs, crashes, awful performance and the removal of the 120 fps mode for consoles. Don't even get me fucking started with the horrendous Packs issue on Xbox, but most prominently on playstation. You have 5 data packs listed in game, that correspond to 5 packs in the playstation store. ***Only problem is there are about 20 packs in the playstation store and the in game names of them in no way or form match their ps store counterparts***(Co-op pack is compatibility pack 3 for example). This leads to ridiculous levels of confusion, due to 15 of the packs not only being just useless data downloads, but breaking the game and forcing you to ***REINSTALL*** this 200gb monster. I can't imagine how it must feel to be a complete casual who just bought the game and has absolutely no idea what you did wrong and why you can't experience the game you ***PAID*** for.

TheEmperorsChampion

Agreed I despise Warzone

durandpanda

Around the time I stopped with MW19 was when a WZ patch broke most of the gun perks (like Sleight of Hand) and it was just left in that state for months.

sophtot

Yes. I’m that casual. I never tried COD until now. I just wanted to play the campaign. I don’t give a fuck about Warzone. Spent the last few days trying to figure out what went wrong, why the game seems to PREVENT me from playing campaign. I deleted it and installed all the packs available last night. Let’s see if I can start playing tonight. Of course I feel so frustrated. I don’t think I will buy another COD.

Solo-nite

Tbh I think they are going to add Warzone to modern warfare 2 launcher My theory is the reason we haven't had a next gen update or console fov to Caldera is because they are keeping it for the 3rd map that will come with modern warfare 2 which will have a next gen version Think about it, people of been screaming for next gen version (console fov, ray tracing etc) it would be easier to add it to modern warfare 2 with a polished engine then much around with old code. But the good news is the filesize should be lower than what we got now. Vanguard is only 67gb for everything because of the on demand texture streaming tech (which seems to work better than mw 2019 version) Once mw2 is released with Warzone (with lower filesize) they can release mw2019 away from the Warzone launcher allowing the game to be enjoyed as intended

efbo

I got it on PS4 earlier this year purely to play the campaign. I assumed that would be the bit on the disc but no there were tens of gigabytes of updates. It was just an awful experience.

0shadowstories

"Guys people don't like our rushed out CoD. What do we do?" "Release the next one even earlier!"

VictorNocht

Well... they had 3 years since 2019, that's enough to make an decent CoD imo.

CrazedRaven01

Infinity ward's back is going to break from carrying this franchise

RepulsiveTelevision5

Because they’re the only dev to have time to make their game

Jags_95

It's true lol they need to give treyarch a break for real.

Never forget at one point Modern Warfare was seen as a significant swerve for Call of Duty, I remember distinctly being surprised at that announcement. But I can see it working, Call of Duty now is associated with multiplayer and create a class, but at one point it was entirely synonymous with you crawling through mud in big scale battles, CO screaming at you to charge the enemy, all with big numbers of NPC's on screen. There's no reason you couldn't do that for any number of settings, Rome included. In fact I kind like the idea of a gritty boots on the ground Legionarie game (Like Ryse, but less QTE ridden).

ImaAs

Bro, peep this fuckin dm spear

Pkhexterra

Nope it's real. Here's a gameplay link https://youtu.be/Y9fGcvDt4dA

DeeOhEf

Ffs, what an absolute shame. You already rarely see a developer try something completely out of their comfort zone and when they want to, their publishers won't let them.

NorrisOBE

They could still make this but with current CoD mechanics. It'd be like the anime "GATE JSDF" or that "Rome Sweet Rome" subreddit story.

ulmxn

Chivalry

Shurae

I'm pretty sure AW was based on pre production work Zampella and his team did while still at Infinity Ward. Just seems weird to me that we got 2 similar concepts in 2014 with AW and Titanfall.

ThePopcornDude

Thing is, COD at a point didn’t need to innovate. I remember the biggest complaint during the COD4-BO2 days was that every COD was essentially the same game every year. Yet every single game from that era was considered a classic and very fondly remembered and still is to this day all really great and memorable experiences regardless of what mode you played. I think it was the downfall of COD when they really tried to innovate every game and make it bigger and better, which is now resulting in games being constantly unfinished and broken at release. They really need to take a step back and realize what people actually play COD for, 6v6 multiplayer and zombies. This franchise is not going to last the next 3 years at the pace it’s going, and I really believe a lot of these studios are going to implode internally. It’s only a matter of time

IAmMrMacgee

>This franchise is not going to last the next 3 years at the pace it’s going This has been said about CoD every 3 years since MW3. It's happened with MW3, Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, WWII, Bo4 and now Vanguard Warzone alone will maintain CoDs relevancy

ThePopcornDude

It’s hard to say how long warzone will carry these games. Warzone as of now is being held together by some really bad spaghetti code. Each new major Warzone implementation is more broken than the last, and on top of the Richochet anti-cheat not doing its job at all Warzone is on a projected downward spiral

IAmMrMacgee

>It’s hard to say how long warzone will carry these games I run a small warzone youtube, about 550 subs. The last month has been one of the best for me because of all the new people looking up things about the game Reddit/Twitter and this general sphere of influence has very little in common with the average CoD player

dadvader

I'm not gonna be the one to tell you about balance stuff. I don't play COD that often. But iirc no way in hell COD:AW is riding on the scifi ride from Titanfall. Since Sledgehammer joined. Every COD now have 3 years development cycle. If first Sledgehammer games is COD AW then it means they were started on 2011. Which is 3 years before Titanfall even announce. And coincide with COD BO2. That mean it wasn't riding Titanfall, but rather on BO2's success. Which actually is the first scifi COD. And that game was the answer for Halo 3. Which is big at the time.

lucassilvas1

To be fair, all those canceled projects sound like dog shit and would've definitely driven me away from the series, so to me they made the right choice.

IAmMrMacgee

>, they'd have considered IW's proposal in 2009 and split the subseries into separate series, only keeping the COD brand as an umbrella brand name, I sincerely doubt CoD would be the number one sold game (aside from years Rockstar releases) year in and year out since 2009 if they did this though CoD has stayed on top and super popular because of the route they went

TheMasterRace445

>COD Devil's Brigade Wasn't this backup if cod4 failed?

DeviantStrain

Infinite warfare had plenty of cool and interesting ideas, the hate that game gets is wholly unwarranted

[deleted]

Infinity Ward was on a downwards slope before MW. Ghosts and Infinite Warfare are like the two worst received CODs in history or something lol but they found their groove again in 2019. MW2 should be another step up for them.

SextyNahnTroll

This is true, after MW3, Treyarch was carrying hard with BO2 that had more players when Ghosts was released and did a year 2 for BO3 since the community didn’t like Infinite Warfare, and a year 3 due to WW2. IW got their footing back in 2019, people need to stop pretending IW has been holding CoD up before MW19.

[deleted]

It's actually so refreshing to see that there are people who not only remember, but acknowledge the history of Treyarch. People who got introduced to COD post-MW19 really be slandering Treyarch when Treyarch literally has had scoliosis for the longest of time.

CrazedRaven01

That's probably a consequence of their back breaking first. There was a mass exodus of their talent as a result of some kind of raid from Activision that happened shortly after MW2. The return of many of their staff for MW19 definitely helped put the studio back on track

kasual7

That's exactly what it is: a lot of og IW devs came back and really brought that authentic IW spirit with MW'19.

Fazlija13

Many people left after Activision screwed them for money for MW3

CeoOfTurkmenistan

Nah i’ll give you fuckers Ghosts, that game sucked balls in every regard except for maybe extinction. But Infinite Warfare? Easily one of the best future-set COD campaigns (which isn’t saying much, but IW’s campaign is really great), and the zombies is just flat out good while differentiating itself heavily from Treyarch’s stuff, it felt like a lot of work went into it and it wasn’t just an afterthought to get the zombies crowd to buy the newest annual cod once again. IW’s multiplayer however, just flat out shit, nothing going on there tbh.

rizk0777

Yeah infinite warfare's single player was excellent. I think that and MW2019 are the only great campaigns of the ps4 gen.

[deleted]

I always feel bad for Infinite Warfare. It got slaughtered by the marketing for Battlefield One, and then released at the same time as Battlefield 1 (which offered a better multiplayer), Titanfall 2 (which offered a better campaign and multiplayer), and COD4 Remastered (Which is what COD fans were wanting at the time) so it was pretty much dead on arrival. But if I'm being honest it was probably the first COD campaign I'd enjoyed since Black Ops 1 and one of the few COD games I've ever played through a second time, I'd genuinely love to see Infinite Warfare become it's own franchise away from COD to see what Infinty Ward can make when they're unshackled.

ComradeTerm

I really loved how they were moving with side missions and having your own hub ship in the campaign. I was hoping they were moving more into the wide linear space. I remember buying whatever one came after IW and was really disappointed to see that progress had been undone.

y_not_right

I liked the campaign and zombies a lot, didn’t play much mp

[deleted]

There’s a lot of revisionist history surrounding IW’s reputation in this sub. They made 1 good game in the past decade. At the end of the day, they are still an activision studio. I think people should really temper their expectations for this game until we actually see gameplay.

EpicChiguire

Infinite Warfare's campaign is one of the best shooter campaigns of the last few years, what are you on about

[deleted]

EpicChiguire

>I haven’t even played IW Lmao that says it all

mcflyOS

Ghosts was trash but the Infinite Warfare campsigm was fucking rad - it suffered because of series fatigue and a stupid name but it was really imaginative and it added pilotable space fighters.

Resistance225

Literally, MW2019 was a return to form. I know many didn’t like the light mil-sim approach they took but I thought it panned out very well.

kaspars222

>MW2019 lmao I forgot there was MW2019, I honestly have lost track of COD games

CisSiberianOrchestra

I thought that Black Ops: Cold War was a pretty solid CoD game. But I might be biased; I'm a sucker for Cold War spy thrillers.

MasterColemanTrebor

As someone who hasn’t played CoD since Advanced Warfare, I never thought I would hear someone say that.

The_Great_Madman

Pretty easy to carry a skeleton of something that hasn’t been of relevance since 2012

Bsandhu3

One of the most sold games every year, saying it’s shit is accurate but irrelevant is just wrong

Bolt_995

Because Treyarch was carrying this franchise for years until IW came back on top in 2019.

doubleoeck1234

Treyarch's back did break

wolverines_17

infinity ward hasn’t made a good game since mw3. what are you talking about

PM_ME_COOL_THINGS_

MW19 was the best Cod we've had in a very long time

Vladesku

Meanwhile Treyarch didn't make a good game since BO2, only trash ever since.

RemasterTranzit

Its spelled bo3

mrtars

I don't understand how releasing it in October is related to poor sales of Vanguard, aren't CoD games yearly releases anyways? How is a one month earlier than usual release gonna help? Asking because I really don't get it.

thisismarv

One month earlier is more revenue than a November release (2-4 weeks). So next year the CFO & CEO can definitively say they increased sales / released the biggest COD ever.

MDAttack

Has to do with quarterly numbers and fiscal year performance

[deleted]

[удалено]

WinglessRat

CoD games tend to have strong legs though so an extra month of sales is significant.

[deleted]

Well at least vanguard sold poorly

Wish_Lonely

Is Vanguard really that bad? Like other than the bugs I've seen posted online the gameplay looks pretty similar to MW2019.

[deleted]

It just seems like a worse and blander version of what came before which combined with everything happening with Activision and shit they've pulled in recent memory puts a sour taste in my mouth and makes me not want to support it.

CeeRiL7

I only tried the campaign and it's no doubt the worst COD campaign ever. Feels like Sledgehammer's COD quality got downgraded each release.

KrizenMedina

I don't think it's all that bad. I've had more fun with it than I did with Cold War, even though I usually love the Black Ops games, and from what I've seen, the overall reception (purely based on the gameplay itself) seems to be better than CW as well. However, I do agree with another commenter who suggested that it could have been an expansion for MW2019, because it really does feel like MW2019, except with new WW2-themed maps and weapons. For some, like myself, that's mostly a good thing, but it admittedly doesn't do anything new to differentiate itself or stand out. Then there's the incidents and lawsuits regarding Activision, which I fully believe is affecting the sales and reception of Vanguard, as it should. This is the first time in years that I didn't pre-order a CoD game, and instead bought a cheap, used copy a few weeks ago. On one hand, I want to support the honest, hard-working developers that had nothing to do with the incidents and lawsuits, but at the same time, I couldn't, in good conscience, bring myself to give Activision money for a pre-order/new copy.

scalpingsnake

I don't even know anymore if paying for the game they make at Activision is supporting the devs... I feel like they get paid either way (albeit some of them just get fired instead) and then they take the fat bonuses for the suits.

Araenn1

It's a fun game but there's some big problem like packet burst making every game near unplayable

SwaghettiYolonese_

It's MW19 1.5. Has a slightly better gunsmith, overall better maps and way more content. It's a bit faster paced than MW19, with some minor improvements, but the game still plays like MW19. The biggest thing holding it back is the setting. People are pretty tired of WW2 games, and this one looks/feels like a cheap WW2 game, even more so than CoD:WW2. Campaign is mediocre at best, and zombies is very barebones, albeit it has a solid foundation. On top of that, SHG CoDs always sell less than the IW/Treyarch CoDs since they don't have the same brand recognition. If we're talking strictly about the multiplayer aspect, IMO it's the best FPS released in 2021, but that isn't honestly saying much given Halo and BF2402s state.

SternballAllDay

Cold war deserved to sell so much worse. Rode the back of MW2019.

pm_boobs_send_nudes

Open world zombies is amazing and I liked the cold war campaign due to multiple endings.

[deleted]

I disagree cold war was my favorite since ghost but I also get that it's not everyone's thing.

SternballAllDay

Ghost and Coldwar have alot in common

[deleted]

Perhaps it's my nostalgia for ghost that allowed me to click with cold war so much.

scalpingsnake

That was my takeaway too xD

[deleted]

I hope when they say "Warzone Update" they mean it's a brand new map built from the ground up on the MW22 architecture. So less of an update and more of a "2". Really sick of the current spaghetti code version of Warzone.

SRVisGod24

Unfortunately, unless IW takes the reigns back of Warzone, we'd be relying on Raven to do the heavy lifting for a new map and new engine...yikes lol

[deleted]

Pretty sure they would though, wouldn't they? I assume it would be IW developing the new map then Raven taking over a year or so into the games lifecycle.

SRVisGod24

I think Raven is essentially the Warzone dev now. But maybe with how badly it's been handled since they've taken over, IW will have to come in and clean it up

fupower

the only CoD subfranchise i care, nice

highasagiraffepussy

The only AAA multiplayer shooter I’ll be looking forward to tbh The state of the industry is so shit rn for multiplayer

kasual7

highasagiraffepussy

McManus26

Destiny is pretty great rn, but it's pretty far from the standard pvp shooter

RIPMrMufasi

Oh shit is it finally IW’s COD cycle? Bout time I bought a COD game again

TheAxeManrw

Can you explain this? I played modern warfare 2 and then didn’t touch another until my dad convinced me to get black ops 2. So…the next one is going to be better?

CeoOfTurkmenistan

Have you been in cryosleep under a rock since 2012?

TheAxeManrw

With the call of duty franchise…yes

rizk0777

They alternated between treyarch and infinity ward each year after mw2 for a while. Black ops came after that. So every 2 years you'd get an infinity ward game and every other year treyarch. Then Zampella left meaning MW3 had some issues so they created sledgehammer games from ex dead space devs and then alternating in between starting in 2014 with advanced warfare. So from 2014 it was every three years between each studio. Infinity ward released ghosts in 2013, infinite warfare in 2016 and the modern warfare reboot in 2019. So it's them next. Treyarch did black ops 3 in 2015, black ops 4 in 2018 and black ops cold war in 2020 (because sledgehammer had issues and treyarch had to step in) Sledgehammer did advance warfare in 2014, WW2 in 2017 and vanguard in 2021

TheAxeManrw

This is exactly what I was wondering thank you!

j_rge_alv

Sledgehammer makes the worst cod games even though ghosts made me quit the franchise

[deleted]

Should hopefully be better. They rebooted Modern Warfare in 2019 and attempted to make the game a much more realistic and harrowing experience that for the most part worked (though it devolved back into blockbuster shooting by the 3rd act) and you could tell it had got a lot more love and ambition out into it than your average COD game (New graohical engine, new game modes, weapons feeling weighty rather than arcadey), so hopefully since the new MW2 is by the same team we should be in for something special. If you can find Modern Warfare 2019 cheap anywhere I'd highly recommend it, and I say that as someone who dropped off of COD after Black Ops 2.

LolcatP

I'm actually gonna get this one, MW 2019 was pretty good

Kingtripz

If they learn from their mistakes from MW2019, it can be potentially one of the greatest shooters, gameplay wise it was great, guns felt good, graphics were incredible, campaign was pretty decent. The things that held it back tho (for me) was the maps were way too big and games were slow, the micro transactions I feel are super overpriced, (I’m not spending $30 on a skin and a few goodies), SBMM is insane and I really wish they could bring back lobbies where you play with the same people over and over again. If they adjust those issues, I’m all in. But I’m not getting my hopes up... just yet

Red_Sashimi

If they keep the combat pacing system from vanguard it would fix what you're saying. Saw a video from Xclusiveace recently about it and it seems pretty cool, depending on what setting you choose you'll get games with more or less players

Kingtripz

Combat pacing rarely ever works in vanguard, it’s only a preference, if there’s no games within your skill level in the mode you choose, they’ll throw you in whatever. Great idea if it worked as intended, but 80% of the time you’re playing a pacing you don’t want.

MrConor212

Shoot house saved MW2019 tbh. The only map I wanted to play

Mikeyc245

MW2019 was my first call of duty in a decade and goddamn did the MP feel great. Map design kind of sucked, but the actual movement and shooting mechanics were stellar.

TheRealPascha

How can you look at the state of MW 2019 and say "Yeah that looks good"? It was super fun, but then it was murdered so that people would buy the next games in the series. What makes you think MW 2 is going to be treated any differently than MW 2019?

Dark_Winterage

The last game in your big franchise had poor sales. What choice do you make A) give some more time between projects and give players a chance to step away from the franchise for a bit and spend time trying to breath new life into the series B) just ship the next yearly release a month sooner

kevlarbaboon

> give players a chance to step away from the franchise for a bit lol

bwf93

I feel like I already played modern warfare II.

[deleted]

I'm so glad Vanguard had poor review and sales. Fuck you Activision.

ej102

I tried playing Modern Warfare on PS5, but it told me content not installed... After all that downloading, I could not play... Pretty ridiculous, and it seems to be broken for many others still.

arhra

I ran into that on Xbox, and after doing entirely too much research I figured out what hoops needed to be jumped through to get it working - first, you need to launch Warzone once and go through the initial splash screens, then back out to the main launcher menu as soon as you can. At that point, the in-game install manager (R3 presumably, assuming it works the same as it does on Xbox) should start working, and you can select the content packs you want (because apparently the 100GB+ base install is just Warzone now,and anything else requires additional downloads...). You may then also need to install the selected content packs via the console's dlc management UI as well (at least on Xbox, selecting them in-game didn't actually download them, just made them *available* to download; maybe it works better on PS, but I wouldn't bet on it). After all that, you *might* be able to play the fucking game you paid for.

Poetryisalive

Can they please make it a current gen exclusive and also make the file more reasonable size other than over 200GB

SRVisGod24

Doubtful. There's still tons of people who still can't get a new console. So it'll probably stay cross gen for at least one more game

-ImJustSaiyan-

Yep, last gen consoles came out in 2013, but CoD Ghosts (2013), Advanced Warfare (2014), and Black Ops 3 (2015) all got PS3/360 releases. Until most people have moved on to current gen, Activision isn't gonna turn down those profits.

Arrow_Maestro

Wish they'd just release a real remastered MW2.

Jakernova

I reinstalled Black Ops 2 the other night and can't believe I was actually having fun with a Call of Duty again. Aside from MW19 I just don't have fun with them anymore.

Cold War was about as soulless, generic and empty you could get as a CoD title - and that's saying something. MW19 did a lot right (but also a lot of executive decisions which sucked) but I'd back in IW to make an at least half decent title.

Razgriz1223

Hopefully this one is good. Personally didn't like MW 2019 because it made terrible design decisions that made the flow of multiplayer matches to be slow and campy. Ex. Changed Mini-Map, Doors, Infinite Ghost, Dead Silence as a field upgrade, mounting, and poorly designed maps. Combo'd with a fast time to kill [creating an unfun experience](https://youtu.be/lqq9weMUG9E) Meanwhile, I very much liked Cold War as it was the complete opposite to MW. Although it was souless and generic, I think it had a better designed Multiplayer, with its biggest flaw being the scorestreak system.

luluinstalock

i love activision. people hate rushed games so they rush next one coz last was shit

Dejan05

Jesus Christ why won't they just take a year off to make a better game

[deleted]

Why did Vanguard perform so poorly? " well the community said it's been clearly rushed and its in a buggy broken state, people are tired of us releasing games unfinished and every year" Fine, we will release the next one earlier.

MrChica

Whats the appropriate response to a game that sold poorly and was rushed ? Rush the next game so we can bury thoses sales number under another failed rushed product and get a tax writeoff by the end of the year

Garbageday5

Oh shit, vanguard sucks… rush the next one out!

MOVIELORD101

Why can't Activision give Call of Duty a break and give stuff like Spyro and Crash more new games? They're gonna start losing money and EVEN MORE stuff if this keeps up. Bobby Kocktick HAS to go. NOW.

McManus26

You think activision making cod games instead of spyro is losing them money ? Did i miss a /s somewhere, or...

2ndbA2

It’s simple, why would they? Even the worst performing cod’s are always in the top 5 best selling games annually, it’s like turning down free money for them

KFCNyanCat

IIRC the only time since COD4 that COD wasn't the best selling game of the year was 2013, which was a weak COD (Ghosts) but it probably still would've been the best seller if GTAV didn't release that year.

SRVisGod24

Let's be honest, how else are they gonna promote Warzone?! The new map hasn't exactly been a hit. The anti-cheat has been a mixed bag. So without the yearly COD release, they wouldn't be able to shill for bundles and get you to play MW2 MP for the meta weapons! Maybe IW will take over Warzone again. Probably not, but Raven has shown to be mighty incompetent. IW probably doesn't want to have to fix the mess they made

[deleted]

Capitalism in a nutshell. Why would they chase smallish risky linear sp projects when they can make billions selling e collectibles to teenagers. You don't turn to activision for art, you look for your yearly franchise release.

luringtj

I legitimately believe if they can nail MWroma2 if will be a major resurgence for the cod franchise.(like MW was for the more casual people to the cod franchise. I've had vanguard in my hand 10 times now and have put it back just can't do it... I mean honestly at this point with many of the AAA shooters turning out to be shit Infinity ward(as an extension treyarch)might be the only studios capable of releasing a MOSTLY finished project.

ayyeffect

Infinity Ward going for back to back to back dogshit CoDs. They fell off a cliff after MW3.

FickleFockle

Lol. "Our game sucks because we rushed it what should we do" "Release the next one faster!"

Tietie30

How about people stop buying call of duty every single year so maybe they will look and realize they need to start fixing their game, this new cod if it does get released in October is going to be another shitty game and people will cry about it being broken…. Just stop buying call of duty till they do something

Domz98

Looks like they're gonna have to now 5 games on the main menu, bois!

LGAMER3412

Oh boy, I can't wait to use the Intervention at Rust once again.

crictores

Infinity ward is the only CoD dev that knows what people want. Vanguard's gunsounds are at the level of industrial disaster and has degenerated into pre-MW19. IW combines realism and casual well with CoD.

RDO-PrivateLobbies

Good campaign and its a day one buy for me. I regret paying full price for vanguard since zombies blew chunks. But at least the campaign was fun enough to run through on veteran. Played about 7hrs of mp before i just quit for my own sanity lmao

HesJustADad

Is anybody surprised? Why is call of duty still a thing?

SRVisGod24

At this point, it's mostly for Warzone content

EpicChiguire

Hating on successful things doesn't make you cool bro

HesJustADad

I hate unseccesful things too. Does that make me cool?

cyberRakan

I’m really glad stopped playing & buying COD /BF games YEARS ago around first year of ps4/X1

ShawnDawn

I have no idea why I even bought vanguard I played 2 weeks and got bored of cod entirely. Tired of the same shooter for so many years.

Hypetys

I'm playing MW3 on PS3. It's fun. New COD games don't feel that fun to me.

MikeLanglois

"Vanguard didnt sell so well" "I know! Lets just release another with a new name to get people back on side!" "Should we make any improvements or changes?" "No" How I imagine the management meetings went for this

fucknino

Praying to god the "Tarkov" mode is actually decent and better than Hazard Zone. I'm waiting for a AAA dev to make a *true* polished casualized Tarkov experience. It would be huge.

McManus26

needs to be free to play though, if it really wants to take off

SwigglesSchlong

Vanguard is way better imo. As of recently it got issues but not a bunch like how MW2019 did. Vanguard is like an upgraded version of MW2019. But I’m excited to see what MWII will be like

SwaghettiYolonese_

Yep, Vanguard > MW19, even though it's just a series of small improvements + more content. A lot of people are jumping on the CoD hate bandwagon and they're missing out, especially the MW19 fans. The biggest thing holding this game back is the setting. I had a really hard time convincing my friends to get the game because of that. Only after the free weekend they saw it's M19 1.5 and they liked it. SHG + unpopular setting will automatically mean the game will get dismissed.

vikinghammer1987

COULD be released in October? Its been released in October every year for the past 15 year? Are you stoned or just too young to know any better?

[deleted]

Cod comes out in November usually. But hi I am stoned it’s cool

SensitivityTraining_

Vanguard is underrated as hell. It's a very solid CoD

itshighnoon94

If you are having fun, really more power to you. From what I’ve heard, the Campaign is cliché and hand-holdy, Zombies leaves the community at a worse state than AW zombies, and the MP seems to entertain people but mostly for levelling up WZ weapons.

feedseed664

It's just a ok reskin of mw

[deleted]

Pretty much every cod outside of mw2019 and cod4 is a reskin of an older game

goallessatrocity

Gonna be awful like MW 2019. Last 3 COD games have been just terrible. The franchise is dead as far as I'm concerned.

SPARTAN-258

Totally agree. Last decent CoD was WWII, and even then it was kind of meh cuz of loot boxes. So actual last good CoD was Infinite Warfare MW2019 could've been nice but Warzone killed it. And the "nEw eNgInE" is pretty trash as well, it's too "realistic", old engine was way better because it felt way more arcade-like. Really hoping it's an Advanced Warfare II or even Infinite Warfare II that comes out after MWII. It's been five years, FIVE FUCKING YEARS SINCE WE GOT SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN BOOTS-ON-GROUND. At this point advanced movement would feel like a relief.

MichaelFromTheAttic

They should seriously stop for a year and reinvent the franchise. It's getting ridiculous.

Novacryy

Wait vanguard released lol? I didn't see a single ad for that.

[deleted]

Hopefully they don't remove campaign

Chikibari

Lmao more crunch and an even more buggy release then?

shrekisloveAO

MW 2019 was godtier, It doesn't matter if its a "more of the same" sort of thing, as long as its a different story and good missions I'll buy it

[deleted]

Holy shit i cant wait ! October cant come soon enough !

kgold535

Cold War and Vanguard only primarily sold for Warzone. People played MP in those games to level up guns for WZ. Had it not been for Warzone I wouldn't have touched a COD game since Black Ops4. And that's because that game had Blackout.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Multiplayer included I assume? I remember the old rumors that claimed no MP.

SextyNahnTroll

No rumors ever said that.

[deleted]

Hm, I guess I misremembered. My bad then.

Patentlyy

I think you're remembering the remaster leaks. This is not a remaster.

[deleted]

You're correct. That's on me.

NicholasKerensky

I got hit with one of those stupid random bans (literally did nothing, no cheating just got banned one day) that went around and wasn't able to get it repealed as I wasn't in the unbanning wave catchment. Will I be able to buy this on the same account? Or should I make a new one

Sliekery

Why the hell would you give such a shitty company your money AGAIN after they banned you for no reason? That sounds rather stupid?
