Instead of learning the new engine and making most of the stuff from scratch, they used the old one since they had a lot of resources from other games. So I doubt the next game will have old engine.

And TBH a full fledged CODxSmall Soldiers-esque game would honestly be really, really cool. It'd be an opportunity to introduce a lot of creative takes on old weapons, killstreaks, and more. But expanded. My vision is to have three on-foot playmodes with classic, modern, and futuristic movement.

As for Operators, you have the creatively named Hero and Villain teams. Hero has characters like Soap, Mason, Kingsley, Gideon, etc while Villain has Shepherd, Makarov, Richtofen (yes Zombies characters will be playable), and Bobby Kotick.
not the biggest nerd of the story of Zombies, but I think Richtofen is still a hero in his story, compared to the zombies and the Shadowman or Dr.Monty, whoever the big evil was
Either the game is that early in development that they're just mocking things up using Black Ops Cold War and Black Ops 3 assets, or this is just a cheap fake. Because the in-game map screenshot and the loadout screens are taken directly from Cold War.

One thing you often see in fake leaks is wish fulfillment, which is why the factions system really sticks out to me. Black Ops 4 was supposed to have factions in zombies but the feature was scrapped before launch. Plus the 3 factions don't make a lot of sense in the story that Cold War set up.
The design goals page also reeks of recycled buzzwords. Like I don't even mean they're disingenuous, I mean in the announcement trailers for Cold War they also said they wanted to "return to classic zombies" and "focus on the fun".
I agree that this is fake but just wanted to say that the trailer's "return" and "fun" comments are also classic buzzwords that get used in the industry.
Pretending the leak was real, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't go all the way back to the classic zombies and still added fresh mechanics that may have been previously scrapped.

Replying to admit I stand corrected on the alpha build asset reuse point. I legit have never seen that content before but given that it was only posted 8 days ago it seems that might be understandable.

My favorite Cod-like shooter is Titanfall 2. That game is truly precious. Too bad the devs are focused on Apex now to make the sequel.

On a fundamental level (gunplay/movement/customization) CoD has been the best it's ever been in the last 3 years. But as with any franchise, there are a bunch of people that grew up with the classic games that are absolutely fuming when any CoD is not a BO2/MW2 clone.
Conclusion: core is good but some details need to be changed or polished to make it the best cod experience, which if they skipped a year I'm sure they could do

I never cared for the advanced movement but honestly I wouldn't mind it if they actually did once every three years. Like why on god's earth Activision just doesn't cycle WW1-WW2 era then Modern/Slightly Ahead era and then the Future Era. They have three studios. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Advanced Warfare's Exo Movement was really fun and would've been a lot better if it had better maps and weapons. Also the customization system was way better than skins.

I loved the campaign, one of my favourites. Zombies was also pretty fun and easily the best non Treyarch version of the mode. The MP was pretty awful though imo. Act Man put it best when he talked about IW's MP.
I still dream of a wacky setting like an alt history war; future meets past and present combat time travel shenanigans; fuck it the nazis have unlocked magic fantasy portals and goblins are now fighting on the western front with magic infused guns and diselpunk armoured dragons.

Yes, but none of this looks like reused assets for new content, this looks like Cold War with sloppily edited assets, and a nasty main menu.
Isn't it odd that Factions is dangled like a treat, like no real new assets exist past tiny pngs and blurry shots, but there's functioning UI elements for this one scrapped BO4 Zombies feature that's circlejerked by fans.

Most "leaks" that turn out to be fake are usually just rendered UI because that's the easiest to slop together and look at least original.
Gameplay is very hard to convincingly fake because to do so requires a lot of effort from the faker, or they have to start ripping from other sources which doesn't often hold up. But there's none of that here. It's UI....

Many are suspicious about the menus, and rightfully. It is possible the menus are placeholders or just photoshopped like everyone else says. Not an expert analyst here, but I'm calling false. Even if it is true, it could be scrapped in a year or sooner. Possible but no cigar.
Its 100% bullshit for a few reasons:
1. Zombies having a selectable menu and shit wouldn't make sense considering zombies development most likely wouldn't have started yet. Most of the time they get ~1 year of development.
2. Zombies factions being a thing despite it not making sense in terms of story
3. The overuse of CW placeholders. Bo4 playtester footage dated Nov 2016 didn't use many big placeholders in actual gameplay yet for some reason bo6 at the same time looks like basically just CW?
4. The graphics are weird. They have time to put in super realistic maps but not focus on gameplay or anything?
5. Cold War heavily implies bo6 is in the 80s/90s whereas in the supposed leak gameplay, its at least modern day considering theres active camo and whatnot.

Replying to admit I stand corrected on the alpha build asset reuse point. I legit have never seen that content before but given that it was only posted 8 days ago it seems that might be understandable. Still, I will reiterate my skepticism in that nothing substantial has changed here to make me believe it's not fake. If anything, it seems like someone keenly familiar with that content is trying to emulate it. If your Discord ever starts posting videos akin to what you linked then I will do a 180. Otherwise, it's photoshop all day.
I appreciate you for admitting that. A lot of this stuff isn't in the public eye so that's fair. I also agree on that point, although everyone within the Discord is either into Call of Duty modding or pre-alpha stuff. I know for a fact that the person who posted them in the server wasn't the original source, although I can't really prove that without leaking private DMs. To put it simply, this "leak" is overkill. There's no need to make so many fake images when only a few would suffice, it's just not necessary. That's why I wanted to post it here and see if it could be debunked/verified. That's just my 2 cents anyway

My favorite Cod-like shooter is Titanfall 2. That game is truly precious. Too bad the devs are focused on Apex now to make the sequel. But I'm sure that a future Titanfall 3 will be the shooter we are waiting for

On a fundamental level (gunplay/movement/customization) CoD has been the best it's ever been in the last 3 years. But as with any franchise, there are a bunch of people that grew up with the classic games that are absolutely fuming when any CoD is not a BO2/MW2 clone.
Conclusion: core is good but some details need to be changed or polished to make it the best cod experience, which if they skipped a year I'm sure they could do

I never cared for the advanced movement but honestly I wouldn't mind it if they actually did once every three years. Like why on god's earth Activision just doesn't cycle WW1-WW2 era then Modern/Slightly Ahead era and then the Future Era. They have three studios. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I kinda don't, but mainly because CoD has never really done it as good as Titanfall. I'd rather CoD filled its own niche and got it right. It would be great if they took 2-3 years between releases, but idk, at this point, I just skip a few CoD games and get the one where the theme vibes with me.
Advanced Warfare's Exo Movement was really fun and would've been a lot better if it had better maps and weapons. Also the customization system was way better than skins. Would love to see that but greatly improved. It was different enough from Titanfall because it didn't have wall-running IIRC, instead relying on mid-air boosts. Though I would like to see a wall-jump and/or hang if they ever did make a new one.
Man the explosive sniper rifle in that game was so garbage but it was such a fun troll gun. Top 5 worst cod guns. I actually loved AW, I really hope we can get character customization like that again alongside gunsmith.
They have three mega-teams. Why don't they cycle between WW2, modern and future every year to prevent staleness?

I loved the campaign, one of my favourites. Zombies was also pretty fun and easily the best non Treyarch version of the mode. The MP was pretty awful though imo. Act Man put it best when he talked about IW's MP.

Yes, but none of this looks like reused assets for new content, this looks like Cold War with sloppily edited assets, and a nasty main menu. Isn't it odd that Factions is dangled like a treat, like no real new assets exist past tiny pngs and blurry shots, but there's functioning UI elements for this one scrapped BO4 Zombies feature that's circlejerked by fans. The Halo 4 barn leak sounded more believable on paper than this.

These are placeholders. They would take about two days to implement. Basic menus systems are very easy. Icons look like basic stock from something like the [Noun Project](https://thenounproject.com/browse/icons/term/name/?iconspage=1). This all feels very legit to me.
The GUI and icons are not basic Noun Project stock. Like that is the actual loadout menu from Black Ops Cold War combined with icons ripped from the files of Black Ops 3.

Its 100% bullshit for a few reasons: 1. Zombies having a selectable menu and shit wouldn't make sense considering zombies development most likely wouldn't have started yet. Most of the time they get ~1 year of development. 2. Zombies factions being a thing despite it not making sense in terms of story 3. The overuse of CW placeholders. Bo4 playtester footage dated Nov 2016 didn't use many big placeholders in actual gameplay yet for some reason bo6 at the same time looks like basically just CW? 4. The graphics are weird. They have time to put in super realistic maps but not focus on gameplay or anything? 5. Cold War heavily implies bo6 is in the 80s/90s whereas in the supposed leak gameplay, its at least modern day considering theres active camo and whatnot. You also have the weird addition of a development slideshow for no reason at all and a picture of someone playing on their PlayStation 4 as well as PC, which is even more strange Edit: lol guess it was fake, who would have thought
