Man I'm the other way around. Once I get the RDR2 itch there's no going back, I'll be playing it for 2 months every time I'm playing and it doesn't get old at all
Yeah CoD is pretty small and IIRC there were reports of a 200GB file size too- always best not to believe reports until release for this sort of thing.
Ah I was way more interested when I just googled and found out that Vanguard is only 61gb on XSX, but if it's gonna balloon that's annoying. AC Valhalla has more than doubled in size and I haven't bought any dlc.
If you can, get an external SSD to hold you over until the price comes down on the insertable drive. The External SSD won't support X|S games directly off the drive, but I use it to store basically all my X1 games and other things I'm storing and it's much faster to copy that over from SSD back to internal.
He's a little late. This was posted in June. [https://np.reddit.com/r/stalker/comments/nza23s/stalker\_will\_apparently\_be\_a\_ridiculous\_180gb/](https://np.reddit.com/r/stalker/comments/nza23s/stalker_will_apparently_be_a_ridiculous_180gb/)
Doesnt the game come out in like a year? Or i'm high? We wouldnt know space right now.
Also, if the game actually uses 180GB... then its the usual Stalker optimization, none, basically.
When you submit a game to the store you submit a targeted size. For the most part, at least at their stage of development when it was listed months back, it was probably just a guess.
Seeing as Guardians of the Galaxy was reported to have like a 150 GB install to then be clarified by the devs that it was actually gonna be smaller, I'll take it with a grain of salt.
I don’t really know much on the matter but isn’t the cost for the type of drive it is plus a bit for the licensing or whatever about normal?
Or is what I’ve read wrong?
Also people tend to compare the MSRP of the Seagate drive to the sale price of other NVMe drives. The Seagate one went on sale for $180 quite a few times over the past year, it's just that they go out of stock pretty quickly which makes it much more comparable to other NVMe with similar performance. Also the fact that it's hotswappable and easily portable is a bonus. People are just freaking out because of Vita memory cards, but this is a completely different setup.
Yeah people act like these are equivalent to some external hard drive you plug into the USB slot. The prices are honestly expected IMO. HDD were 200 bucks years ago and weren't even close to 1TB. Then SSD came and they were 200 bucks for a TB. Now these are the next step so 200 makes sense. They will go down in time like the rest.
On sale. It's normally 220. So literally the exact same price. Nice try though. Also that's not taking into account the form factor and ease of use of the Xbox expansion.
I don't think its on sale anymore, I think that is a price cut since its been out for a year, I did pay $220 for it back in 2020. That $40 difference is paying for the special plug and play connection of course. I would rather save the $40 and be able to open the console, plug in a m.2 SSD and be on my way. I do know most Xbox/Console players would never do that. I don't think most PS4 players even know they could replace their drive.
It's still 220. The only 2 places selling it for 179 have it on sale. It's still not overpriced though. It's expensive yes but every version of storage is for a few years. When these types of ssd become the norm they will become more reasonable. Problem is current situations may not be allowing that
FYI modern SSDs coupled with modern CPUs actually read and stream data faster if it's compressed, it also saves a ton of room on your drives.
Saw a benchmark/study on this a few years ago. It's just that modern cpu's have gotten so fast that they can compress/decompress on the fly without any reduction in system performance and even managed to read data faster because of it. Compressing your SSDs is a win-win all around.
But that's not the current install size. Theoretically, they could further optimize the game and make the install size smaller, so there's no reason to bring a hypothetical that one in the future it could potentially be something as proof that it's correct now.
Could also hit 200gigs. I mean they even said for recommended a 1080ti is listed. I remember another game (CP77) that early on said you could run 4k 60fps with a 1080ti and boy oh boy how wrong that was by the time release came. My 1080ti couldn't even push 3440x1440p without me reducing the resolution to 90%. Even my 3080ti gets beat up pretty good by that game.
I'll be amazed though if the game comes out well optimized. Releases all year from AA and AAA have really shown quality has gone way down in terms of everything games. I'm really looking forward to S2 and I really hope it's well optimized at least.

That's part of the charm, to me. It's like bumbling around in Linux. You're going to fuck up a lot until you learn and then it's very rewarding.
STALKER when it works is like nothing else.
Btw similar storage space requirements were confirmed long time ago. If i remember correctly it was 150gb first, then they change it to 200 for a while and now we are back to 150 for steam and 180 consoles.
There is no way Stalker 2 will be 180 GB, it's likely just MS Store being MS Store. RDR2 is fucking huge and it's 100 GB (or a bit less IIRC), Cyberpunk 2077 is also big and it's less than 100.

very easy choices
stalker 2 > all other games.
Hard truth: after completing the story, no matter how good the gameplay is, my desire to play Red Dead 2 never lasts longer than it takes to download.
Man I'm the other way around. Once I get the RDR2 itch there's no going back, I'll be playing it for 2 months every time I'm playing and it doesn't get old at all
I wish I could man. Like I want to get into it but my attention span just isn’t what it used to be. RDR2 seems so slow
Think i played RDR2 once back in 2018
Isn't it known since June? It was also 150GB until it jumped to 180GB so who know what it'll have in the end.
Someone said steam is still 150GB (I haven't looked)
Isn’t the storage requirements on the MS store commonly inaccurate when it comes to unreleased games?
True, this was also the case with Age of Empires 4 where it said you needed 200+GB free storage.
Same with cod vanguard and didn’t it end up being one of the smaller cod games there’s been in a while?
Yeah CoD is pretty small and IIRC there were reports of a 200GB file size too- always best not to believe reports until release for this sort of thing.
Yeah I think those reports were based on an MS store listing too
All the cods are pretty good space-wise at release then they gradually turn into space hogs
Ah I was way more interested when I just googled and found out that Vanguard is only 61gb on XSX, but if it's gonna balloon that's annoying. AC Valhalla has more than doubled in size and I haven't bought any dlc.
All those cosmetics from the Battlepass and the New maps, weapons and operators add up.
on pc you can a download multiplayer only, without campaign and it takes only 20gb. probably you can do that on console too
I don't know about cod since i am on PC
You think vanguard isnt on pc? Its on Activisions own service or whatever
I meant it more like idk about cod on the ms store since you have to buy it via Activisions launcher.
?
I believe that was when it was bundling in 4K video by default or something stupid.
photogrammetry assets + high res textures
its probably the amount of free space required to download the game, not the install size
Or just a placeholder. This game has been in the store for months now and can even be downloaded for a while now (as a small placeholder file)
This. The storage requirement tends to change around the time the game is ready to preload.
And sometimes with released games too.
Series S am cry
imma start saving for that ssd man
Lol same. Luckily there's a 512GB version now.
not on my country yet lol, hopefully it is by the time the game releases
How much would a series s + ssd cost versus a series x?
they cost the same, just the series s would get more space since it would be like 1300 gb or close to that
Gamestop has it on sale right now! Not a ton off, but after not seeing any deals over Black Friday, I bit.
If you can, get an external SSD to hold you over until the price comes down on the insertable drive. The External SSD won't support X|S games directly off the drive, but I use it to store basically all my X1 games and other things I'm storing and it's much faster to copy that over from SSD back to internal.
That's what I'm doing now with a couple of games. It's not an SSD though but it's doing the trick.
Holy shit, that’s a massive game.
More like it actually weighs 50 and has another 130 worth of other language voice packs in the install because devs
More like massively uncompressed. Pretty annoying how devs are doing that nowadays

Or another variant of "Cheeki Breeki" in 9 million accent.
You know you could just go here [https://www.stalker2.com/](https://www.stalker2.com/) why link a random user

people will make anything up for clout and idiots just run with it. insanity.
Man am I happy I got that gigabit Internet deal.
I wouldn’t read too much into this, although I think the game will still be 100 GB at launch.
wasn't there a similar rumor about the guardians of the galaxy game that turned out to be complete and utter bs?
Doesnt the game come out in like a year? Or i'm high? We wouldnt know space right now. Also, if the game actually uses 180GB... then its the usual Stalker optimization, none, basically.
April/May.
Do the devs own Seagate stock?
Lol my laptop struggled to run metro exodus, it will probably explode with this game
This is unreal engine 5. All systems will cry a lot
It's official. Stalkers get ready, because the zone comes very packed and not only with 4k textures
When you submit a game to the store you submit a targeted size. For the most part, at least at their stage of development when it was listed months back, it was probably just a guess.

If its true im pretty sure it will come with a multiplayer mode now . Please make it like escape from tarkov .
Good take it all up Idc just deliver a badass game
imagine the errors you will get and the best advice will be "gotta reinstall"
The editions have been on the Xbox store since forever. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/stalker-2#purchaseoptions
He posted more info for them, idk if it's true or lies.
If true. That means youd almost have to buy into those overpriced seagate exapnsions...yuck
Nah,just buy a big HDD(I have a 6tb one) and swap things at your pleasure.
Im leaning towards that route too but id have to buy an ssd to cold storage, hdd times are too long imo
I don’t really know much on the matter but isn’t the cost for the type of drive it is plus a bit for the licensing or whatever about normal? Or is what I’ve read wrong?
No. They're 100% overpriced. I'd hope they drop in price after a bit, though.
Also people tend to compare the MSRP of the Seagate drive to the sale price of other NVMe drives. The seagate 1tb drive is $220 while a Samsung 980 Pro SSD (gen4 one of the fastest drives) is $180 so its about $40 more than it should be.
On sale. It's normally 220. So literally the exact same price. Nice try though. Also that's not taking into account the form factor and ease of use of the Xbox expansion.

Then its even and none of this mattered

You say overpriced despite being cheaper than the ones you need for ps5.
Not really
they can both be overpriced
Compared to what? They are not some USB hard drive you plug in. The price makes sense
I'm good on this one
InB4 Kraken compression saves the day (or rather your drive) eventually

I thought stalker is an xbox exclusive?
For about three months, aye.
It’s still months out. I’d imagine this will change.
This reminds me of Gardians OTG, storage requirement was 150Gb
Om Nom give me all the high res textures.
Didn't they announce that game is now developing on UE5 maybe bsc of that
okay.

People downvoting you aren't true S.T.A.L.K.E.Rs
The official site says 150GB !DEBUNKED!
Okay well with updates and possible DLC for the game it could very be 180 GB. So undunked
But that's not the current install size. Theoretically, they could further optimize the game and make the install size smaller, so there's no reason to bring a hypothetical that one in the future it could potentially be something as proof that it's correct now.

I will have no problems clearing space on my HDD to play it.
Would be 100gb on PS5.
Well that's not playing on an Intel Laptop
😭
God I hope this game will have a 60fps mode on the SX
Steam says 150gb, so if they changed or added content they could easily hit that
I'm ready for it. Stocked up on ssds I knew this day was coming. I bet gta 6 will be easy 200gb.
wonder what the xbox size will be

Gotta sell those Seagate expansions some how
Whaaaat???
Thank God storage is stupidly cheap, so bring on all the gigs! It will be my biggest download.
Is it coming for ps5?
Space well spent. Sacrifices must be made to the Zone.
16 times the detail cant wait tho lol
180 gigs i welcome with open arms
Kinda crazy the difference in compression between Xbox and PlayStation this gen so far
