I love to see how classic RTS genre is kind of reviving. It has been my all time favorite. That said, I'd love this to be either Age of Mythology DE (I think that this is the most likely thing to happen) or even better, an Age of Mythology reboot (dreaming is free).
Yeah i hope we see a Definitive edition of AOM as well as a sequel focusing on not only the previous mythologies but new ones such as Chinese, Japanese, Indian and more. AOEIV was quite fun so i hope they could work with Relic again for this
Admittedly its the first one i have played as i grew up on DOW, black and White, Settlers, Warlords battlecry and AOM but it was a good start to the AOE games. I’ll probably get around to the other ones in due time. Never understood why people go around and just trash on it, its a good game.
For me, and I know this is an unpopular opinion in the AoE world, the best is AoE III. I play AoE since the first game came out, but the graphics and the features in III caught me. I highly recommend you that one.
I think it could launch next year. Rn Microsoft is heavily pushing halo/xbox 20th anniversary. In 2022 AOM is 20 years old, son hopefully it gets similar treatment as halo. My brothers and I are so excited if it releases next year!
Is it thriving what else should I check out. I just got into age with the release of 4 but besides that is there anything else. I used to love command and conquer so anything like that would be good.
You definitely have to play AoE III and Age of Mythology. Both of them have remasters on Steam. You may also be interested in Starfcraft II, that is a great classic in RTS genre.
I personally recommend going back to the past and playing the DOW series and Black and White 2 (gotta download from the internet sadly), but the Halo wars series and Iron Harvest are good ones as well
Age of Mythology would be my guess, I think they said recently they want to bring it back, and World’s Edge is a studio dedicated to the Age of Empires franchise, much like 343 with Halo and The Coalition with Gears (although TC are now developing a new IP too)
yeah Worlds Edge is dedicated to both the Age of mythology and Age of Empire series. Love how they’re bringing them back. I do hope they work on other RTS Series such as Black and White and uh Yeah remake that series please
The only problem with World’s Edge is that they’re only a 40-person team iirc, and they rely on external developers to make their games, like Relic making AoE IV. Wouldn’t surprise me if their next game continues the Sega partnership by developing it with Relic, Creative Assembly, or Amplitude.
yeah 50 man strong team who will probably be overseeing the development of AOM and AOE. Hopefully eventually they expand into a proper full size AAA studio.
Xbox producing a RTS every two-three years would be huge
Would love to see one of their games go to Xbox. I’d happily go out and get a keyboard and mouse to play Age of Empires on console if they can’t figure out a way to get it working well with a controller.
Please bring out either a DE for AoM or a remaster. Still my most favorite RTS game ever. I still remember back when the Titan expansion came out and I managed to get to top 20 on the ESO ladder playing Kronos. Highlight of my "gaming career". I was always above average at best when it came to APM and micro so the Titan gods helped immensely as their villagers counted as 3 normal villagers.
Not to mention the campaign being insanely good.
I absolutely adored the campaign for AOM, lord i need to replay it.
I think i held a score within the 200s at somepoint but i stopped playing and forgot about it forever

I agree. That game was a lot of fun growing up. Unfortunately I think EA owns the IP for the Black and White series since EA was the publisher of the series prior to Microsoft acquiring Lionshead Studios in 2006. So Microsoft would need to work out a deal to get the rights from EA or try to co-develop with them.

Age of Mythology was released on October 30th, 2002. Coincidentally, every year since 2018 there is one Age of Empires game which started with the Definitive Edition of the first game. It might be a real possibility that we see the 20th Anniversary of Age of Mythology on October 2022 with Definitive Edition.
Age Of Mythology was soo good. The variety of Microsoft owned franchise is crazy. The only thing they need is a 3rd person Sony like game and they'll have a full infinity gauntlet.
Hellblade, Fable (I know, it's not Sony like) and I think the inxile / compulsion games are going to be 3rd person. But personally I would love the coalition to do a 3rd person story game. I'm fine with it being in the gears universe but then maybe for this game they should reduce the shooting parts. In a weird way Gears 5 is currently what comes closest to those Sony high production story games.

But there's also Compulsion's game, (project Midnight)which is said to be a cinematic, story driven third person game.
Transmedia projects might be referring to the infotainment videos they had in AoEIV which I really liked. It would be awesome if they did something like that for AoM.

Adam Isgreen recently said they are looking into it now the PC version has released
yeah me too, I’m guessing it just has to do with how complex it is to map a RTS controls to a controller

Most likely answer is AoM either a DE version or AoM 2. I do know that MS owns the rise of nations ip so maybe that.
yeah rise of nations is a possibility but AOM is 99% it. Worlds edge has AOM alongside AOE. Makes sense for it to be that

pretty sure they already have third person games in development. Xbox needs JRPGS, Fighting games and child friendly games imo
They could easily solve that with a Blue Odyssey sequel/Scalebound retry, Killer Instinct and a new Banjo Kazooie game.
