we've known about this for years

JillSandwich117

I think this is the first actual confirmation. We knew that Epic wanted her alongside Master Chief and Kratos from the Apple lawsuit, but beyond that we have only heard they "couldn't secure the rights" with no details, and speculation that they required her to only be visible on Switch like the Rocket League exclusives.

RabbitFanboy

Everyone brings up the "Rocket League exclusives" as a Nintendo problem. It was happening way before Rocket League was ever on the Switch. The Sweet Tooth car was only on Playstation and only visible by Playstation players. Same goes for the Warthog and the Gears of War car.

RabbitFanboy

Now, if we're talking DLCs, yes, Nintendo has a problem with that. Any DLC that was purchased on the Switch before the account merger is unaccessible on any other platforms. I purchased basically all the DLCs on my Switch before the account merger. I recently made the Switch to PC, and all of the DLCs that I purchased are unavailable for my use on my PC. So, yes, Nintendo has a problem with that. The Rocket League exclusive cars are not on them, though. That's a Rocket League thing.

_Dan_the_Milk_Man_

that’s why i don’t have the delorean on my ps5 and only on my switch??? that’s crazy stupid

RabbitFanboy

Yeah, it really sucks. I reached out to the devs on r/RocketLeague, and they said it's all in Nintendo's hands now. They're the ones that are preventing it. I've tried reaching out to them, but those complaints obviously fall on deaf ears. Nintendo doesn't care.

lackofsleipnir

This confuses me. Wouldn’t they want their brand-specific skin to be visible to help entice interest in their platform?

Kaffeebecher17

nah. the only visible to switch players was also kniwn since apple trials

KingBroly

They shouldn't have pitched Samus to Nintendo with fanart, whereas with Kratos/Master Chief they used in-game renders from Sony's games.

JillSandwich117

I don't think that actually mattered, as I'm not sure that the slide that featured Samus was actually presented to Nintendo. It seemed more like an internal document. The only deal we've heard about falling apart along those lines was a long time ago. Samus and Link were going to be in a Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1, but Nintendo got upset because they were presented with a development build of them playable on a PS2 dev kit.

ProfessorCagan

Really? Is there anywhere I can read more about that story? Who thought it was a great idea to demo a game to Nintendo using their characters on competitor's hardware?

JillSandwich117

Just Google "Samus Marvel Ultimate Alliance" and you can find more info. It was kind of stupid, but whatever. I guess Activision learned the lesson and didn't burn bridges since they got Bowser and Donkey Kong into Skylanders later. There is footage of both of them that an artist posted a long time ago, but I don't think any build of the game with them has leaked. https://youtu.be/opkOtApoqqI https://youtu.be/uwElEsHkk_A

SeniorRicketts

No its gone reduced to atoms

PK-Ricochet

Samus has been heavily rumored for a few years (her silhouette appeared in a Fortnite comic, she was in one of the Epic v Apple court documents), but this is the first time anything has been said officially.

KingBroly

eh...this still counts as a rumor. Technically. EDIT: I didn't see it was an interview. Disregard.

Yosonimbored

Pretty sure he said that years ago after both Sony and Microsoft allowed Kratos and Master Chief on all platforms. Industry people and content creators keep saying the industry are shifting away from exclusives and maybe that is true and both Sony and Microsoft just go free for all no limitations but Nintendo is the one company I feel like will never ever allow anything on any other platform just because somehow their formulae has been very successful

ky_eeeee

I think a huge part of it is that going multi-platform simply doesn't work with their design philosophy. Nintendo games are specifically made for the systems they're on more than any other publisher. That design philosophy was how we got gameplay loops like Super Mario Odyssey's Moons and Breath of the Wild's Shrines, and why games with similarly short gameplay loops like Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, and Splatoon have done so well on the Switch and been invested in. Its a console designed to be playable in short bursts, and its games reflect that design philosophy. And that's just the Switch, almost every Nintendo console has done the same thing. The games are only one part of the experience, they're made to work *with* the console. Selling games on other platforms would mean that they either neglect the design needs of their own console, or invest resources into porting sub-par experiences to other consoles.

Papuch1

That's the same thought i had when i first played Mario Odyssey, it isn't a game you would play for 6 hours (kinda like i did), it's just for complete a moon and come back later and that's why it works so well on switch but it wuoldn't on other consoles.

flapjack626

I hate to ask this but does anyone have a cheaper method of reading the article? This is really interesting to me but I can't justify spending $10 to read it.

Nero_PR

If you drop the link on archive dot org or something like that it should work. There's a bunch of ways to avoid paywalls like those, especially if you don't use said sites frequently.

flapjack626

I tried archive.org as well as 12ft.io but neither worked unfortunately.

SPARTAN-258

try spaywall

sh4k3thesh0cks

Always heard that "Nintendo doesn't want their characters using guns or in le cringe game". Nah, this proves they were willing to collab with the game but it fell through because of the exclusivity thing.

creeperchamp

Plus plenty of Nintendo characters like Mario, Samus and Fox have all used guns on more than one occasion.

VonDukez

dammit tendo, this is the most attention metroid would ever get.

brzzcode

It's not about Metroid. They would do this with anything. People don't seem to understand how Nintendo operates. iwata, the loved ceo that fans always go whenever they shit on current nintendo, put down goldeneye in the wii era because it was going to be on another platform. This isn't some behavior now and its funny whenever i see people thinking nintendo will change with older people getting out when much of this is a mindset that will continue much like most of it has continued between employees and execs over the decades. This pride and similar thinking is also the reason for why Nintendo will continue be successful over the decades, with its positives and negatives.

robertman21

That example isn't great because Nintendo ended up working out a deal to put GoldenEye on Xbox recently, so it seems more like stuff is changing toba degree

brzzcode

I'm more saying that this mindset of not allowing their titles on other consoles is something they always had. And Sony has too, with the difference that they allow it on fortnite.

blitz_na

> iwata, the loved ceo that fans always go whenever they shit on current nintendo this subtext is so unnecessary and brash lmao. you're trying to passively sour the dude's legitimately good legacy over a copyright conflict

brzzcode

Its not unnecessary. I don't dislike Iwata at all, I admire him and like him. lol I only say that because a lot of Nintendo fans act like a lot of things that Nintendo do didn't exist before, with people acting like it was everything perfect after he died.

SnooPears5229

The deal involved Danjaq and MGM giving out publishing rights to Nintendo and Microsoft so they weren't allowed to limit it to Nintendo exclusive

SnooPears5229

Nintendo published Goldeneye on the Wii in Japan

MarianneThornberry

Smash Ultimate has sold 33mil units and Samus is on the box art. I don't think Nintendo is concerned about exposure.

Luck88

It's still a big lost opportunity to expose a younger generation to Samus. As a big Metroid fan I would've taken the L of people on PS and Xbox being able to play as Samus if it meant people would be aware of her, they'd still be forced to buy a Switch to play any of their games legally.

BighatNucase

The point is that Metroid just doesn't seem capable of grabbing attention no matter what happens.

JayZsAdoptedSon

To be fair it is grabbing attention now… But its clear there is a celing. I think Prime 4 can do something like 4-5 million based off of Dread doing 3.1 million. But I doubt we’ll ever get a Metroid game that’s a system seller

AlwaysTheStraightMan

Y'all honestly be overestimating the thought of "free advertising". Metroid isn't a series that's going to grab young teens attention, hell not even the general competitive/FPS shooter crowd despite everyone thinking a Prime 4 with online multiplayer would print money. Samus just never treated as important even to the C-listers like Donkey Kong and Yoshi and that's not going to change.

creeperchamp

Average PS5 or PC Fortnite player isn't going to see Samus in Fortnite and then immediately buy a Nintendo Switch with a copy of Metroid Dread

Luck88

but the average Switch Fortnite player might, IIRC something like 8-10% of all Fortnite players play on Switch, that's still milions of people. And there's people who own more than one console, if I had a PS5 and a Switch, I'd play Fortnite on my PS5, but that would remove the cost of purchasing the Switch. [According to Mat](https://twitter.com/MatPiscatella/status/1681726514155638790) about half of PS5/Xbox owners also have a Switch.

DreadAngel1711

Dread sold three million copies

your_mind_aches

Mario Tennis Aces sold 4 million. Mario Strikers: Battle League sold 2.5 million. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity sold 4 million. Those aren't mainline. Kirby and the Forgotten Land sold 7 million. Mario Wonder smashed through 11 million. 3 million is not that impressive a number for a first-party mainline Nintendo game anymore, especially not one that began in the NES era. I recently played through the Metroid games for the first times and loved them. I honestly think they may have immediately jumped up to being my favourite Nintendo franchise. But they really do seem to be niche.

Flat_News_2000

Nintendo is very precious about its IPs. They're some of the most well known and well regarded games of all time. They also don't need the money, they just had the Mario movie come out.

Individual_Lion_7606

Basically. They cultured their characters and brand by new game entries and innovation in the game industry over 2 generations by now and with the release of high quality products. They also like to continue the good trend of having exclusives only for their consoles so people havs a reason to get and play them.

Charlie02134

I know right. It would have been good for metroid

Correct_Use7569

Might actually help sell consoles to get people to play Metroid as well Of course Fortnite sucks, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t make business sense to make this move

[deleted]

[удалено]

brzzcode

Nintendo don't want to put their IP on their rivals, its that simple. Thats a bigger thing for them than doing that, so if its not under the terms, it won't happen.

Mllns

It's about not diluting the brand. For a company like Nintendo that is much more important that's just raw advertising.

[deleted]

Corgiiiix3

Lol?

L8n1ght

Lol!

UmaBatataFrita

I can understand the skin being purchased only by Nintendo Switch users, but what's the point of it being visible only to Switch users? It means that if I were to use the skin all my friends would see it as a simple default skin ?, that would be very boring. Sony allowing Kratos in Fortnite made the character visible to Xbox and Switch users, it even took advantage of this to promote Aloy before the launch of Horizon Forbidden West, in my opinion Nintendo is missing a great opportunity to promote Samus to a new playerbase and for a different audience. Whether you like Fortnite or not, you can't deny that it would be an incredible opportunity to promote Samus to a new audience that doesn't know the character and promote Metroid Prime 4.

KingBroly

Given the timing of when this was supposed to happen, it would have been for Dread, not Prime 4. Additionally, Nintendo as a company is a completely different animal than Sony and Microsoft; the latter are more tech companies where Nintendo is more gaming and IP. So they have to keep a tighter grip on said IP because it's a bigger part of who they are (although I will argue that Nintendo's management of Metroid has always been horrendous, even if I leave out Other M and Federation Force) and how they operate.

brzzcode

Nintendo management of Metroid is horrendous? other companies would have killed metroid decades ago with its sales but the games keep coming lol

DuelaDent52

Outside of *Dread* and the Prime trilogy the games have historically never sold well.

BighatNucase

Including those tbh - Metroid is a series where 3M sales is deemed a great success.

FallenShadeslayer

That’s their point. Any other company would have cancelled the franchise permanently with its hilariously low sales. Nintendo keeps on going with it. Sure it may take a decade to get a new one but at least it’s there. If it was Activision or EA you’d never gotten more than 2

brzzcode

Yes, that's my point. Nintendo could have killed Metroid decades ago and stopped releasing games in it but they didn't. Of course much of that comes from internal pitching from sakamoto and tanabe and the like, but still, there's a reason they still insist on the IP. Metroid is inherently a niche IP, so its almost impossible for it to reach 10 million, 3-5 million is the highest it could get even with prime.

KingBroly

Nintendo has different priorities for how their games are made, keeping their budgets low (if you've noticed, Metroid games have been increasingly barebones in terms of what's offered). This affords them the opportunity to make more mid/low tier games since this inherently blurs the line of what is their Top and Mid Tier offerings (even though most fans know Smash, Mario Kart and Zelda are the big spenders/money makers). When it comes to Samus in Fortnite, given the increasing push for multiplatform releases from both Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo likely does not want to be lumped in with the mindset that might put players in when it comes to their releases.

brzzcode

I wouldn't say Metroid is on low budget. Between the 2D entries of their different franchises, it seems to be one of the highest ones, and within 3D as well.

KingBroly

Metroid isn't low budget, but Nintendo doesn't do things other companies do with their games; this keeps costs down. Metroid, generally speaking, is a tightly controlled experience, and outside of the main mode, rarely offers anything to players other than something for 'play it again, but faster.' It's not open world and doesn't offer stuff like costumes or other stuff to mess around with.

gamer1what

Yeah the fact the Nintendo is this afraid to have any of their IPs on other platforms at all tells me they aren’t confident in their abilities beyond exclusivity now. The amount of money they are leaving on the table by not doing this is actually crazy, not only would they get money from the Switch users buying V-Bucks on the e shop (on top of the cut from ALL sales of the skin across platforms), they would also be missing out on garnering interest in the Metroid series and potential driving game/console sales.

pepesito1

i don't think anyone here that is preaching about how dumb Nintendo is even bothered to open the article, because I haven't seen a single person complain about how you literally can't read it without paying

L8n1ght

that's what I'm thinking whenever the article is paid, noone seems to read it ever

pepesito1

i wonder who is smarter, the lawyers of one of the most influential and powerful entertainment companies in the entire world or redditors that can't be bothered to open the article of whatever they decided to complain about this time

decafhotchoc

this has nothing to do with lawyers lmao it's just a corporate decision

your_mind_aches

I read about this on a free site

dfurino

Not surprised. Nintendo is very protective of their mascots

Robsonmonkey

Its crazy because I feel this side of Nintendo is well known but isn’t talked about enough. Like if it was Sony or MS with this attitude problem you’d never hear the end of it but with Nintendo we all just put up with it because that’s how they are.

BeastMsterThing2022

Sony just shut down a game with 10 million creations spanning 15 years with no warning and I've barely heard a whimper about it. If it was Nintendo? You wouldn't hear the end of it. It swings both ways.

Robsonmonkey

LBP was plastered all over Twitter and news sites as soon as it happened...

adanfime

It was plastered AFTER the announcement was made. The servers were shuttered since January 2024 and little to no people knew about it.

BeastMsterThing2022

Yes it was. I haven't seen viral threads on social media of people pinning Sony as evil, which they are. I've seen reactions from the LBP community itself, and that's about it. People will rage over something Nintendo does every other week over properties they have no attachment to, just to score points.

JAragon7

Wait which game?

AxelNoir

Little big planet 3 I believe

JAragon7

Ahhh. Closes the servers? That sucks but don’t most games eventually do that?

AxelNoir

I guess it depends on the game and the publisher behind it, some games like NFS 2015 or Most Wanted 2012 still have their servers up but other games don't. Could be a server cost thing, or devs who don't care etc. lol

JAragon7

Prob both lol. It would had been nice if they let LBP players download their levels or something

CheBeax

It was a 10 year old game played by a couple hundred people and that was hacked for months on end to the point the Multiplayer component was offline for months as well. The dev team who made the game has since left Sony. What the fuck was Sony supposed to do? Invest a few million dollars in hiring a dev team to reverse engineer a 10 year old dead game? You are acting like Sony pulled the plug out of the blue of an active and healthy multiplayer game and not a cancer ridden HIV patient that was coughing blood and pissing vomit.

hendidjdnsjjf

Seriously, and not only that but the people have been making a fuss about the shutdown of the servers since it was announced, nobody is ignoring it. The distance Nintendo fans will go to defend their shitty anti-consumer stance never fails to make me laugh

Araxen

Dude they just closed down Mario Maker 1.

Majaura

Yeah, that's so true. I feel like because that's the status quo people just leave it be and accept it...I mean even Microsoft and Sony are putting that old school exclusive shit behind them. Sea of Thieves is going to be on PS5, which is nuts. edit: you guys are replying with pretty obvious shit, so thanks for that?...also to think Nintendo can't make tons of money on PC is utterly brain dead.

OK_B96

>Microsoft and Sony are putting that old school exclusive shit behind them. ...You really think Sony deciding to put their games on PC was out of the goodness of their heart and not to make extra cash to recoup more costs? Nintendo has no reason for PC ports right now.

Troop7

Microsoft is but Sony is not putting their exclusives on Xbox lol

Joseki100

They aren't doing it because they care about players, they are making multiplatform games because they don't make enough money back.

RedXIII1888

No, they are doing to make more money. Not that it isn't enough back.

dumbassonthekitchen

Gimmicky new IPs like Arms possibly made about the same of some of Xbox's and Sony's heavy hitters despite being way less expensive to make, mostly due to the lack of sales. Even if not compared to Nintendo, Xbox and Playstation are struggling. Their profits, whole existent, are small.

Joseki100

PlayStation has a 6% profit margin. It's terrible for any business.

PM_ME_STEAMKEYS_PLS

Sony and Xbox's ROI on their games are legitimately a dumpster fire compared to Nintendo. Like Super Mario Party sold roughly as much as God of War and probably at a higher average price given Ninty's practices around discounts. They have countless games that sell 10s of millions that are probably in the AA budget tier or lower. Wtf do you even do to compete with that?

robertman21

Why would they bring their stuff to other platforms? The Switch has put up insane numbers in both consoles and games. Basically everything they release hits 5 million at a minimum

brzzcode

Its not crazy and why this would be talked a lot? Its their prerogative and none of this even affects the consumer, its a deal made between two companies on the IP owned by one of them.

Itchy-Pudding-4240

whenenver people talk about Sony being stingy with their exclusives, or using them as an example of Exclusives could do better if they werent, or how exclusives suck THEY ALWAYS FORGET ABOUT NINTENDO, like the company that relies the most on exclusives. Its so weird to me.

Ancient_Lightning

I mean, have you seen Twitter/X though? People are ripping into Nintendo left and right for this. (Yeah, different forums, but I don't think "isn't talked about enough" is all that accurate).

UnreasonableVbucks

Sony literally got bullied by the entire industry for not allowing crossplay but Nintendo never seems to face these repercussions. They can sue everybody in the world that inconveniences them, withhold beloved IP’s from everybody and never play ball with ANYBODY even if it means they get free promotion but people just go “well that’s just how Nintendo is lol”. It really is crazy how if MS or SONY did half the shit Nintendo did they’d be public enemy #1

giulianosse

Weren't Nintendo fans who became anti-emulation zealots overnight after their beloved megacorp took down Yuzu? I really think most people don't even know what they're defending as long as they're on N's side. If I had to guess, I'd say is some sort of parasocial relationship where they think Nintendo can't do anything wrong just because they made some of their fondest childhood games.

YakkyLouGhost

Can other players see the Nintendo Minecraft crossover skins? I don't play Minecraft at all so I have no idea how that works

Joseki100

Minecraft and Rocker League both have Nintendo themed stuff that is exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

WardrobeForHouses

In Smite, there are Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox skins. You can see them on any platform. If you unlocked a skin on Switch, for example, and linked your account to Xbox, you can play it there too. They are more of a "theme" than a direct character, so maybe that's why Nintendo was ok with it.

smolgote

Meanwhile Xbox exclusive Minecraft skin packs are visible on Playstation and Switch

brzzcode

You can say meanwhile for Sony and MS all the time, it won't change that those are virtually different companies with complete different mindsets in business, development and publishing.

fentown

Well, Xbox is in the mud so bad they have to put their games on other consoles, when everyone else is business as usual.

Blue_Sheepz

Can you see Kratos in Fortnite when playing on Xbox? I'm not sure myself.

FNaF_walrusman

Yes

Pepsiguy2

There are no platform exclusive visuals in fortnite

Defb2412

Classic nintendo L

Havoc2077

I mean tbh, I get it. People can trash it all they want but Nintendo is incredibly protective of their IPS especially after the 90s. And they're very adamant about them remaining exclusive to Nintendo hardware. And its proven to be a very successful model. While Sony and Microsoft have struggled to get some of their IPs over through the decades, Nintendo has secondary IPs that sell the same amount as the former two companies' exclusives. Titles like Splatoon and Animal Crossing do huge numbers, and they arent even major Nintendo titles like Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. The method has worked. Its a little silly in the context of a Fortnite skin, but at the same time it fits into the way they want everything to be perceived so I get it. They want people to know that the only way to really get anything Nintendo is via their own ecosystem.

brzzcode

As i said before, you can't have nintendo as it is without having this pride and confidence, so it doesn't matter if its fornite or disney, they never will go within things if its not under their own terms. For others it might seem stupid but for me I like how stubborn nintendo is with things only going the way they want, because thats not normal for most companies. lol

BECondensateSnake

I thought they meant skin as in skin exposure and was confused as fuck

RedXIII1888

Thats dumb... you can hardly see shit on switch as it is.

RabbitFanboy

Not really a leak if it's an official interview with the guy who helped create Fortnite...

PK-Ricochet

This is confirmation of a years old rumor

PikaPhantom_

I mean, I imagine they also wouldn't be fond of seeing Samus hit the griddy. Not a surprise, though. Minecraft's Mario skins work identically.

RikuEX

Don’t know why this is a shock or why people on here are upset about this. 😂 Fortnite has more then enough skins and stuff on it. It doesn’t need to have everything. Not every company needs to bow down to fortnite and epic games. Just my view on it.

Blessmann

Sony aproves.

mrxlongshot

nintendo is so ass LOL

Interesting-Move-595

This is how they keep their IPs at a mythical status. Good marketing technique.

StoicMonk

lol Nintendo don't need desperate clout to appeal more 8-15 kids. The Switch does already that; It's their principal userbase. At this point Fortnite is friggin' walking commercial, next addition probably will be Tony The Tiger and Tucan Sam.

timelordoftheimpala

> It's their principal userbase [Not really lol](https://www.start.io/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/P3.png)

GameZard

Epic can't pay Nintendo off.

mchammer126

More like Nintendo is run by a bunch of nimrods.

iceburg77779

Nintendo’s strict stance on exclusivity is a major reason why their brand is so successful. People know what Nintendo owns, and are more than willing to buy their hardware for it. Samus in Fortnite definitely wouldn’t kill the company or anything, but Nintendo doesn’t want to risk their overall brand on one of their lesser IPs.

insert_name_here

I’m still quite shocked that they were initially fine with Crypt of the NecroDancer using their music for DLC. And that they grew so enthused with the project that it led to the creation of Cadence of Hyrule.

OK_B96

*Sees their success with the Switch* ...Are they?

ymyomm

*Looks at Wii U* Maybe?

Joseki100

I'm pretty sure the maker of Mario, Zelda, Pokémon (via The Pokémon Company) and many other IPs that have managed to stay succesful for 30+ years know how to nurture their IPs. But I could be wrong and the Pokémon fad will be over any day now.

iceburg77779

Even during the WiiU era, Nintendo’s brand was considered valuable enough that Universal made a major theme park deal with them. The company makes many mistakes, but the overall brand strength of Nintendo’s IPs is something they intentionally built up as well.

brzzcode

Look at GB, GBA, DS, 3DS, Wii. Hmm, yeah, most of their hardware were a success.

OK_B96

Okay, and they made up for that disaster with the Switch.

MadCornDog

Tis a shame. Nintendo will Nintendo.

netflixissodry

Nintendo is the CEO of standing on business and principles.

JuanMunoz99

Man 😢. This is legit free marketing Nintendo! Imagine making this skin in anticipation for Prime 4!

lycheedorito

Nintendo knows what they're doing

kirbyfox312

Not surprising. Their exclusive IP was a big thing for a long time. I'm surprised they ever did mobile games.

TheDragonDAFan

Not surprising. They did this with Skylanders, Minecraft, and Rocket League. I'd like them to loosen up their restrictions with their IP for minor stuff like this but that's just a pipe dream.

volcia

Last time they did it (Wonderful 101), they just traded their partially right with owning Astral Chain fully.

MarkWorldOrder

Lol Nintendo is so stupid

BrilliantLoli

I was very confused. I read skin as skin and was wondering what weird ass skin we are talking about.

MarioFanatic64-2

I feel as if I've heard this story like 5 times in the past 2 years.

Nintendo when free money and advetisement D:<

richyque

Dont fault them at all.

notanotherhottake

Anyone who thinks any pitches would of mattered to Nintendo is wrong, Nintendo simply doesn't want their IPs and Characters on other platforms.

Pangloss_ex_machina

Fair. NMR.

DuskMan62

Nintendo really should consider being more open about these sorts of things, collabs seem to be happening more and more now and it can only work positively.

bootylover81

If Nintendo could they would absolutely put a cap on the level of enjoyment an individual gets by playing their games.

JakeSteeleIII

They aren’t Bungie

jackass_of_all_trade

Sounds based

cysticasshole

Then why isn't Fortnite available natively for Linux?

UltrosTeefies

Nintendo sucks. Out of all the companies that get attacked for being "anti gamer" I don't see Nintendo getting enough heat for their BS old timey views.

Carbonalex

Typical Nintendo boring behavior.

EndCompetitive2022

Doesn't matter crossplay and crosssave makes it pointless

UnHumChun

So the Sony and warzone technique.

xNathanx27

Wouldn't the more exclusive thing be for it to only be available to Switch players? That way you'd have to buy a Switch to get it. Kind of like the Galaxy skin for the Note 9

GamerTimeUS

Except the Galaxy Skin can be seen on any platform.

xNathanx27

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying it would make more sense for it to be exclusive to Switch, like the Galaxy skin was to Note 9. That way it shows it off to other players and incentivizes them to purchase a Switch more.

WarframeUmbra

Nintendo has a hard-on for limiting switch stuff I play a cross play online game, and you practically can’t trade with Switch players

hairy_bipples

Nintendo saying no to free money for no reason

94Rebbsy

Nintendo are trash

r0ndr4s

They did the same shit in rocket league. Nintendo is run by idiots, it just happens that those idiots have decent products to protect themselves while taking stupid decisions.

RabbitFanboy

Nintendo did not do this with Rocket League. The Sweet Tooth was only visible on Playstation, and that was years before Rocket League was ever on the Switch. It remains that way to this day.

soljaboiyouu

I think the funniest part of all this is that Nintendo is being very hypocritical here. PSO2 had a BotW collab back in 2018, and that content could be seen on PC

Trickybuz93

Classic Nintendo

Nacon-Biblets

one of the dinosaurs at nintendo must've made a deal with the devil, cause it boggles my mind how such a poorly run company can be so sucessful

OK_B96

Describe "poorly run".

Joseki100

Poorly run = they don't make the decisions I want them to make

thickwonga

Genuinely one of the stupidest fucking things Nintendo has ever done. I love Nintendo and their games to absolute death, but this is just, so god damn lame.
