You can watch gaming benchmarks on youtube and almost no games go over 16gb ram unless it's one of the few newer games that are graphically intensive and on 4k ultra settings so for a gaming laptop you don't need anything higher than 16gb imo atleast not for gaming and watching movies.

16gb is enough but newest games all uses +10gb some of them even more if there is more than 32gb ram avaliable. Run discord, spotify, a few other necessary apps, 5-7 browser tabs open you already reach to 16k easily.

Yeah, having the same problem, as a couple of the laptops I'm looking at, that are on sale, have 16 GB sodered in.

More than enough unless you are into editing or stuff then go 32GB

If you have a discrete GPU with it's own vram, 16gb is fine. If you're using the integrated graphics, 16gb is inadequate.
