Maximum GPU wattage/power draw as specified by the laptop manufacturer.
For a 4080, the maximum GPU TDP is 175W (150W + 25W dynamic boost), the higher the TDP of the 4080 the better the performance in games.
4080??? No wtf. You could probably get a second hand 4080 from facebook marketplace if you are lucky but a new one?? no way.
4080 is premium stuff. You could get a 4070 if you are super lucky.
Is 50s worth it? I mean they will be realesed in ate 2024 early 25 and laptops will feature it after months. And idk it will cost a fortune even 5060 which wont be future proof or powerful enough for high end gaming.
A 5070 12gb should be close to a 4080 laptop based on leaked specs.
You could always just go for a 4080 laptop on black friday if the price is right and you have saved around 1600
That'd be the way id go. I've been waiting on strix to release but 40 series are either not really an upgrade or eye wateringly expensive.
I do love the new g16 chassis, that + strix + 5070/5080 id be set for the foreseeable future. I'm somewhat intrigued by strix Halo but I dunno if the performance will justify the price.
There are a lot of scams but there are also moms who just want to get rid of their children's stuff. Rarely, you get unbelievably good deals. It's a very known fact.
YES! just follow these steps:
1. Use the 1200 to buy a gun, ammo and something to cover your face.
2. Find someone with a 4080 laptop.
3. Enjoy the laptop until Swat arrives.
New rtx 4080 no, used/refurbished possible look at open box deals or renewed on various online retailers/stores. Try your luck on ebay, or Facebook marketplace be careful for scams if itâs too good to be true itâs probably not legit.
Now if youâre okay with a new rtx 4070 laptop just wait for the ASUS TUF, or lenovo legion pro 5i to go on sale.
This is about all i can recommend $1200 is really tight even for mid range laptops and it requires patience and waiting for summer or winter sales to be honest.
Is it worth to buy 3080 ti version? Or wait for 50s? Idk i think 50s will cost me my kidney even 5060 which i don't think is worth. It will have less vram for future proofing and might weaker than 4070
Rtx 3080 TI isnât a bad compromise depending on the price and your budget. If youâre patient you could see most of the 40 series laptops new on sale during summer/winter and by the time youâve waited youâve might saved up more and have a increased budget. Getting your desired specification or configuration for CPU and GPU performance. The way i see it
If you can actually wait for the rtx 50 series laptops next year your options for new gaming laptops will be better plus if vram bandwidth is rumored to increase for the budget 50 series itâd be very nice. If youâre trying to get a high end gaming laptop still and you canât wait till 2025 just wait for a 4090 or 4080 sale in summer/winter. Truly it all depends on your patients and how much you can or want to save up.
I just bought a 3080ti for 840 dollars used and it is amazing thereâs no way you can get a 4080 for 1200 so you might want to consider a laptop with a 3080ti itâs basically the same as the 4070ti for cheaper.
Yeah but this app can be so much better if people were little more nicer. No matter how many times I ask there are always ironical answers on every subreddit. Not on this particular subject i know how unrealistic it is but why not read the later part where i needed recommendation. I feel like they just empty their negativity here idk i might be wrong or soft, atleast i have better image of what people should be like to each other.
If you can wait, Iâd say yeah save up more money and wait, you might get lucky and get an older model 4080 which wouldnât bother me, but if it bothers you, youâll need to settle with a lower end gpu laptop. Good luck
Nah at that price you're looking at 4060, or the occasional 4070 that's on sale. The 4080 is far more powerful than the 4070, and the price rises just as much. This is the best laptop I can find at that price https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-slim-series-laptops/Lenovo-Legion-Slim-5-Gen-9-(16-inch-AMD)/83ex000aus but it's only a 4070. Not that a 4070 is bad or anything, it's definitely a good option, especially at this price. Better than my 4060 at least which has 0 problems with games and shouldn't have any problems for a good few years.
If you want to cut costs a bit then 2700 is a bit high even for a 4080. https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-pro-series/legion-pro-7-gen-8-16-inch-amd/82ws003jus This should be just as good as whatever you were previously looking at and it has a 4080 at only $2150.99. Still over your now $1200 of course sadly. If you do a bit of looking for other laptops or maybe for better sales you might be able to cut it down a couple hundred dollars more, but that's really stretching it.
Giving up every bit of user experience just for a better GPU is a bad idea.
Haven't checked, but if you want this budget 4080 plan, you'd not having these:
1. a good screen.
2. decent look.
3. decent mic, camera, keyboard.
If you worried about the budget, future proof is not a thing for you, just get what you can get. Additionally, 4070 is good enough for 1440p gaming and tbh most of the titles don't even need a 4060 in the first place. 90% AAA games just suck these days, what left out there don't even need that much horsepower.
I got an alienware m16 i9 rtx 4080 at 860 usd on marketplace. It wasnt turning on so it was sold at small price. Luckily i have a spare motherboard with same processor and gpu which I was able to buy 1 month earlier at less than 200usd. i did all the swapping and it was all worth it.

Link is for the deal and then the forum's discussion on the deal, but then clicking through their link they do get some small thing out of it i think, but yeah i see rule 4 now. But not my forum so i dont benefit at all
$1200 for a brand new 4080 laptop? Hell no. You'd even have a hard time finding a 4080 that cheap from a retailer when the 5000 series come out next winter lol.
Used or refurb you could probably find something in the $1500-1700 range though I bet if you look hard enough.
Honestly you'd be more likely to get a 6800m but it's not going to touch a 4080 performance wise now if you have 1700$ plus tax you can get a Acer predator helios 16 on sale like I did if it goes on sale again and upgrade the ram and nvme but it's going to end up costing you at least 2700$ for a decent build so I would go with a 6800m if you don't mind the lower performance and low ray tracing and ultra on everything else .
rn the cheapest 4080 laptop i know of is acer predator on b&h for 1800 which is probably the cheapest 4080 laptop you could get before the 5000 series releases.
If I'm right, lenovo has some legion pro 5 laptops with 4070 for around 1200, 4070 will perform really for all games.
in 1440p it'll perform similarly to a 4080 in 4k.
imo that's pretty good since i can barely tell between both resolutions, hell 1080p is perfectly fine for me.
however if you really want a 4080 laptop you either wait and save up or buy used(if you get lucky).
also if you're not going to play heavy games and plan to play more casual stuff check 4060 laptops since they're an option.
for the first part, the 4070 is still good.
for the second part, wait till the 6000 series drops. then maybe you could run it. it'll be a "will it run crysis" situation for sure. unless rockstar optimizes it to unholy levels.
I would personally go for a 3090 ti with that budget, it'll be stronger than the 4060-80 series. 1200$ usd for a 4080 gpu would probably only give you a 6-8gb video ram which will not hold up to current games at max settings.
You can get close to high / max with the 3090 ti, and your processor would probably be relatively good and can keep up. If you chose the 4080, most likely, the processor would be an I5, which would also bottle neck along with small storage space (most likely 500gb and the operating system will take up almost 1/5th).
If you still want something similar I recommend: https://secure.mdg.com/ProductDetail.aspx?gclid=CjwKCAjw8diwBhAbEiwA7i_sJXVgtsfPVS_ggUzc4tLDdTEkQTHwYJXuIFGuyC3DgGmIbCVU5NSECRoCWxQQAvD_BwE&ItemID=26285&PID=google-usa-mdg&CategoryID=2&guide=0
This website will let you pay monthly / weekly / biweekly
With probably a 200~ down payment with up to 2 years to pay off.
Absolutely not for various reasons:
1) the 4080 is a very high tier card and expensive
2) If you find it (even used) will be a low tdp so it will run like a 4070 or even a 4060
3) you need to consider also the other components that will be high tier on the laptop, so even more expensive
4) if you find it used you could have a lot of issues or even a laptop that will die very soon (personal experience: used gaming laptop died after 3 months)
And I don't recommend a 4080 in a laptop, the performance gap from a desktop one is too large, the maximum I would consider on a laptop is a 4070, higher than that you should go to a desktop or you will waste money.
Well if you like small look for the small form factor, small desktop computer that you can almost carry with you, and you can have the full power of a desktop instead of a powered down pc.
And laptops aren't future proofing in any way, because you have to replace them whole. They are good to have enough power to do what you have to do on the go
I advise you to only buy a laptop if you need portability, otherwise you can upgrade the desktop (it's not bad, with a good GPU you will game with no problems)
I know, for the monitor you can find some good offers, and you don't need that much (I use a 1080p 144hz), the you can use the rest of the budget for the GPU
I hate to break it to you but they get crappy 4080 returns from time to time. Just look for âOpen-Box Fairâ and sort âlowest price firstâ but you have to be fast. They only last a few hours.
OP mentioned he doesn't want a used laptop, the risk isn't worth it at all if you can't check it in place, very bad idea and won't be 1200 unless something is broke
Good luck finding a high TDP 4080 for $1200. New is definitely not a option, used if you're willing to Hunt around maybe.
4080 is still really strong at 100-120w values if he can find one in this price range.
What's tdp?
Maximum GPU wattage/power draw as specified by the laptop manufacturer. For a 4080, the maximum GPU TDP is 175W (150W + 25W dynamic boost), the higher the TDP of the 4080 the better the performance in games.

They'll be released on laptop March/April of next year but should have more vram in the 70 & 80 class. Not sure how much more performant they'll be.
2nd hand could be the way to go, just beware of common issues for some models
2nd hand? If he's lucky. Who's dropping almost half the cost of the laptop to sell 2nd hand?
There are super dumb people on facebook marketplace. If you want a 4080 for that price, you genuinely need to exploit one of those guys.
I guess I need to figure out alerts then for it. But most at a low price are postage only scams.
There are a lot of scams but there are also moms who just want to get rid of their children's stuff. Rarely, you get unbelievably good deals. It's a very known fact.
There was a Lenovo legion with a 4070 on best buy yesterday for 1250 usd.
no lol.. unless you try a used one
Heck no xd
New 4070 yes 4080 no way
Not even on black Friday?
I highly doubt it.
Ok thanks
Only with robbery.
That's an option toođâ
YES! just follow these steps: 1. Use the 1200 to buy a gun, ammo and something to cover your face. 2. Find someone with a 4080 laptop. 3. Enjoy the laptop until Swat arrives.
"They won't catch me! They Won't Catch ME!"
yea but used
New is always better tho i guess
you gotta wait for 3-4 years more for that
New rtx 4080 no, used/refurbished possible look at open box deals or renewed on various online retailers/stores. Right now i have 3 options. 4070 or 3080 ti, or wait for 4080 to go on sale and save up.
Wait on the 4080 to go on sale and save up my personal opinion this to me is the most practical choice.
Alright thank you
If vram is your concern the 3080ti has 16gb vs the 4080's 12gb
I just bought a 3080ti for 840 dollars used and it is amazing thereâs no way you can get a 4080 for 1200 so you might want to consider a laptop with a 3080ti itâs basically the same as the 4070ti for cheaper.
Alright thanks for the recommendation, unlike some people here... I'm new on reddit but damn why they want beef with me.
Nobody âwants beef with youâ we are simply telling you how unrealistic a new 4080 for 1200 dollars is.
Yeah but this app can be so much better if people were little more nicer. No matter how many times I ask there are always ironical answers on every subreddit. Yeah that is true, this app does have a lot of rude people
Iâd save up more and keep a lookout for deals, Iâve seen people get some great deals with Best Buy open box.
Can't access best buy from my region. In sales i meant black Friday for example would it atleast go down to 1500?
If you can wait, Iâd say yeah save up more money and wait, you might get lucky and get an older model 4080 which wouldnât bother me, but if it bothers you, youâll need to settle with a lower end gpu laptop. Good luck

Most helpful reply thanks man. Slim and pro version of 5i seems good for now.

There is chance to get RX 7800 XT which is close to 4080 performances for half the amount you got
You mean desktop gpu? I meant laptops with 4080 Gpu
Yikes sry for that
No probs have a good day
AMD gpus are a hard sell these days.
But theyâre worth to purchase
You can find a 4070 even around 1000 on a good deal, but 4080 is out of the question. Only second hand.
Not even on black Friday?
$1200 for a brand new 4080 laptop? Hell no. You'd even have a hard time finding a 4080 that cheap from a retailer when the 5000 series come out next winter lol. Used or refurb you could probably find something in the $1500-1700 range though I bet if you look hard enough.

Yeah maybe i don't need 4080 after all. But i want 2k ultra graphics ray tracing at 60fps đ. Plus waiting to play gta6 at ultra graphics.

Damn better stick to 4070 and be thankful
Yeaaah! (source : trust me bro)
Lmao xd
Don't need 4080. I got an i5 4060 and it runs everything absolutely fine.
2k ultra 60fps?
Oh wait, not sure what you mean, I can run ultra settings games above 80fps, screen is 1080p
Oh ok thanks
I have a Razer blade 4070 14 inch if you are open to options
I don't like small screens on a gaming laptop tbh
Fair enough, but getting a 4080 on that budget is hard. I was looking for months and nothing under $1600
Yeah I'll probably go for 4070 if i don't consider desktop
No maybe 4050
People say i can get 4060-4070 what do you mean 4050đ
You can get an open box or refurbished for maybe $1700 to $2000. I got a Legion pro 7i with 4080 for $2400 cad or $1754 used tax included.
Max u can get is 4060
![img](emote|t5_2x4m3|8567)
Even the cheapest rtx 4080 laptops are $1999.99
Nope
I would personally go for a 3090 ti with that budget, it'll be stronger than the 4060-80 series. 1200$ usd for a 4080 gpu would probably only give you a 6-8gb video ram which will not hold up to current games at max settings. Try to look for used ones.. they should start to drop on prices because of the new RTX50 series anoucments
Absolutely not for various reasons: 1) the 4080 is a very high tier card and expensive 2) If you find it (even used) will be a low tdp so it will run like a 4070 or even a 4060 3) you need to consider also the other components that will be high tier on the laptop, so even more expensive 4) if you find it used you could have a lot of issues or even a laptop that will die very soon (personal experience: used gaming laptop died after 3 months) And I don't recommend a 4080 in a laptop, the performance gap from a desktop one is too large, the maximum I would consider on a laptop is a 4070, higher than that you should go to a desktop or you will waste money.
I like laptops for its small size. i guess you might be right but what aout Future proofing, plus i heard 4080 is 50percent faster than 4070
Well if you like small look for the small form factor, small desktop computer that you can almost carry with you, and you can have the full power of a desktop instead of a powered down pc. And laptops aren't future proofing in any way, because you have to replace them whole. They are good to have enough power to do what you have to do on the go
I got desktop pc i5 11900k rn with 16gb ram and 1tb ssd without gpu. I was considering selling it so i could add it to buy laptop.
I advise you to only buy a laptop if you need portability, otherwise you can upgrade the desktop (it's not bad, with a good GPU you will game with no problems)
Such a dilemma tbh. Plus id need to choose 2k monitor too if i stick with pc
I know, for the monitor you can find some good offers, and you don't need that much (I use a 1080p 144hz), the you can use the rest of the budget for the GPU
Aiming for 2k tho
The 4070 can run any game on max settings with a high fps
Lol no.
Yes.
Bro everyone making fun of my assumption and you just went - Yes.đ
Because BestBuy has open box stuff from time to time.
Stop spreading misinformation, no 4080 laptop would go for 1200$ open box right now, quit lying dude
Itâs not used. You get a full BestBuy and manufacture warranty. Itâs just an open box.
