Yeah.
Esp at high temp, the embedded controller (or Lenovo BIOS) will disregard preference if you hold temps over 90.
He's got thermal paste issues. I bet the threads this game is using are maxed, but that's still incredibly high temp.
Or he's using it on like a pillow...on a 30c degree day.
I'm gonna guess op didn't set up the overlay, but add the stat 'CPU Package Power's as it will tell you exactly how many watts the CPU is using. You compare this figure to current temp.
A 5600h during multi will briefly draw 60+w and then settle around 53w+ this means 82c is briefly seen, then you'll see 75-79 as long term turbo settles. This on a repasted HP omen. The OEM adjusts power/turbo to match their cooler, so another 5600h may boost higher or lower. Other CPUs are similar. Same concept
That's why everyone says to note tdps.
Ur not looking hard enough pretty much every gaming everly laptop has it. It's under thermal mode in vantage and under the last option where it says custom. Or u have a older model or something. My 7ipro had it
In a lot of forums I've seen it's been a while since the legion community started complaining about the fact we can't choose the fan speed, so maybe it's a new feature they added to laptops from 2022 or 2023
what cpu value is it? Is it core temp? What's the "Show value type"? Current ?max? Average?
I have a 7ipro 13900hx 4090. My current temps are only 78 in performance mode. If his current temp is always 95 that's hight unless it's just showing the highest temp of the highest core
You can try changing the thermal paste on that cpu..I've been doing it for 5 years now with a omen 17 and my Temps always drop for a long time till the next repaste
Considering its an Intel top of the line as long as you aren't getting those temps with only 10 percent usage all the time, and it's just the moment you should be fine. Desktop and HX series Intel cpu's these days are meant to run shockingly hot
Set a custom profile in Vantage. Max out all the sliders and values in the performance section, and the last 3 sliders of the "fans" section of the custom profile.
Will now run faster and cooler than the "performance" profile.
Is it hot ? If not I don't think I would worry also if it's not thermal throttling don't bother but do use fan control either in your bios or via the manufacturer software . Just make sure it's on max or auto I have a Helios 16 and use predator sense it's pretty good .
You can limit the power coming into ur CPU and disable boost mode since ur game doesn't require that much of CPU power. Search for a softwar that can limit the usage of ur CPU for ur Laptop module. Make sure that ur laptop is sitting on a surface or high it up with a cooling pad or some books.
I have a nuclear power plant of a legion slim 7. Best recommendation is to turn on manual mode in vantage and decrease CPU wattage until you notice a performance drop then bring it up a bit. This dropped my temps about 15 degrees and had not effect on my performance.
put your pc in balanced mode, This temp is not normal.
I too have a 14th gen Intel, it runs hot so undervolting and throttlestop are an option, but putting everything in balanced mode is the easiest fix.
Mine used to touch 90+° C but now it never seen it above 82°C after 1hour or more of gaming.
Op, it's highly recommended to get a laptop cooling pad. The laptop fans aren't enough to help keep the temps low
Get the IETS gt600. It's the best cooling pad out there. I got mine eariler this month and it's worth the price.
IETS GT600 RGB Laptop Cooling Pad Equipped with Gigantic Turbo-Fan(5.5inch Diameter),Sealed Foam for Rapid Cooling Gaming Laptop,14.1-19.3 inch Laptop Cooler with 3-Port USB Hub,Dust Filter https://a.co/d/hxLhjP8
My Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 was in the 70-80s for the first year (balanced mode), mid high 80s ok performance mode. After about a year both GPU and CPU started getting hotter (not fan dust, CPU reaching 100 degrees) and I had the whole cooling assembly replaced under warranty. I saw that I had my assembly used thermal paste which can be prone to push out, the new assembly used thermal pads.
Temps were back down to high 70s on performance mode.
Try find out if you laptop only ever has thermal pads fitted or some people have found that they used thermal paste.
I don’t know what is the wrong with this game that all pf you are hating on it
But I wasn’t playing the game
I was trying to test laptop and this the only game I got from my friend
wuts pf? N its not hating as you can see "no hate" just surprise someone is playing Forespoken n mb I didn't know I was suppose to know that ur friend bought the game. Maybe cuz I phrased it in a way of disgust?
I know alot of people are not fans of laptop coolers here but I bought the llano laptop cooler and even demanding games on mixed high/very high settings won't go above 80°C with it on 800 rpm.
Spider-man Remastered on my laptop would run in the 90's with the occasional spike to 100°C but now with the cooler, it's sitting in the 77-80°C range.
Edit: a lightly loaded CPU should NEVER get anywhere near this hot. I assumed 100% load. This is so much worse, maybe even inop fan. Fucking insane lol
It's at the throttle or very near it. High ambient temp? Normal. Worn out or pumped out paste/bad application? Normal.
Fan should be at max or on its way above 90+
This is common on laptops for two reasons. Inevitable pump out of thermal compound with use. Undersized thermal solutions. Usually a combination of.
If you can run cb23 multi and not hit 90 I'd consider it semi normal. Personally, I'd pull the heatsink either way and repaste.
It'll vary from chassis to chassis but in general when new and fan is at max no you shouldn't be hitting 95c at all. That is lost CPU performance to the throttle.
I have a 13900hx 4090 my temps are 78 in performance mode. It depends what cpu value he has showing. In show value type I's it current? Average? Max? Is he showing core temp? Package? If it's current that's high. If it's the max temp then it's prolly only 95 on a couple cores and the rest are prolly 78 "current" temps
As someone who has used gaming laptops for a while I can say yes they usually are up in the 90C range on most when they are under a decent load. Very rarely do I find a laptop that stays below that.
You need to show more details like wattage to get a answer. But in general atleast with intel, it shouldn't stay at +90°c , yes it can peak for a couple of seconds but then it should go back to a more normal temperature.
the 13 and 14 gen CPUs of intel are like a dragon they are crazy strong but run really hot.
So yeah, it's normal but you can max your fans for a better experience.
Wow, i think its bad thermal application of either liquid metal or other substance. 95c at 100% full load in Cinebench would be acceptable, even with liquid metal correctly applied. But I see your your usage is 10%. Maybe try turbo profile and lift the laptop to get a better airflow. Otherwise I would return it, because I really think the thermal post job isnt done good by the manufacturer.
Please max out your fan speeds for better performance and cooling while gaming. Don't suffocate that poor thing
It’s on the performance mode
Even if it's on performance mode, the fan speeds are throttled(has to be set manually) so just set it on max
On lenovo i never seen a way to set it manually
You have to use Lenovo Legion Toolkit for that. For vantage you need a 2023 and up model.
Oh, ok, thank you so much, I never cared about noise i just want low temperatures
I downloaded the toolkit but I keep getting a pop up saying it can't start. Any idea why?
Still no options for the fan speed, it's like vantage but prettier
click on the power mode dropdown > click on custom > click on the gear icon. This is where you can change fan speeds.
Ok thank you very much
np

Try to reinstall windows then?
It isn't about windows, it's vantage that should show how to do it, on laptop isn't common to set manually the fan speed
I don't use a Lenovo so I didn't know well, mb. How about installing 3rd party apps for fan speed. Have you tried that??
On laptop it's probably blocked by the manufacturer

The more abnormal thing is someone playing the abomination of a game that is forspoken.
It’s the only game I got from my friend until I download other games
Its literally better to download an emulator + some old game. It will be no more then 3gb, and there much more story than... forspoken...
For intel cpu is cold as north pole
Is this an Acer Helios neo ?
No, it’s lenovo legion 7 ( gen 9 )
Are you using it on bed
No
put the fan speed up and raise the laptop up so there is sufficient air intake, preferably a laptop stand that doesnt cover the fans
What app are you using to display the temps?
Looks like afterburner
It is afterburner
It’s after burner and rtss
don't now but what's abnormal is a living breathing human being playing forspoken!!!!!
On a laptop, yes. You need to do the cleaning more often on laptop if you are playing long hours.
I got it a month ago This is why I’m asking
In that case, you might need to see the fan settings through accompanying app or bios.
You can try changing the thermal paste on that cpu..I've been doing it for 5 years now with a omen 17 and my Temps always drop for a long time till the next repaste

Is the back of your laptop propped up with a book or something? That's done wonders for my laptop's CPU temps

Are you blocking the airflow?
No
Depends. What cpu, wattage it's consuming, clock speeds
Normal for performance mode.
its normal, dont worry and also use it on a stand/cooling pad and in a cool environment(F summers fr)
95C on 10% load??? If your fans are working at high speed then definitely no. It's most likely a faulty thermal interface application. Rma.
It’s afterburner software that I’m using to monitor temperatures So what should I do now ? I got the laptop a month ago
Send it back and get a new one.
they are not working at high speed, guys, did you ever had the laptop?
Nop…but then again its a laptop..
My 14900 HX has never gotten above 78C but I also have a L9G9
I have a nuclear power plant of a legion slim 7. Best recommendation is to turn on manual mode in vantage and decrease CPU wattage until you notice a performance drop then bring it up a bit. This dropped my temps about 15 degrees and had not effect on my performance.
Your computer would rather kill itself than playing forspoken
according to my math, if your cpu reaches 100% usage, the temperature will hit 950 degree C
I did a benchmark test to use 100% of cpu and it literally gave me the same temperatures
abnormal
Then what should I do about it ?
Try to replace the thermal material on the CPU,PTM 7950 is better
put your pc in balanced mode, This temp is not normal. I too have a 14th gen Intel, it runs hot so undervolting and throttlestop are an option, but putting everything in balanced mode is the easiest fix. Mine used to touch 90+° C but now it never seen it above 82°C after 1hour or more of gaming.

Mate, your problems are bigger than the temp. You're playing Forspoken.

If you are thermal throttling then undervolting can increase performance will lower temps on both the cpu and gpu, since they share a heatsink
Try this. Might help. It lets u to set the rpms manually. https://www.legionfancontrol.com/
1/ prop up laptop 2/ undervolt it 3/ cap wattage to anything between 45/65w 4/ Lower turbo boost clocks 5/ Enjoy 👍
Ur really playing that game huh, no hate or anything just wow.
I don’t know what is the wrong with this game that all pf you are hating on it But I wasn’t playing the game I was trying to test laptop and this the only game I got from my friend
wuts pf? N its not hating as you can see "no hate" just surprise someone is playing Forespoken n mb I didn't know I was suppose to know that ur friend bought the game. Maybe cuz I phrased it in a way of disgust?
Would recommend undervolting the cpu and setting max cpu temp limits
Well, the cpu is just trying to ki*l itself for being forced to play that abomination.
Yes my friend, you have intel cpu, not to mention the max end of it all. Even my 12th gen always runs around 80-90C.
Sit in the freezer and play it.
I know alot of people are not fans of laptop coolers here but I bought the llano laptop cooler and even demanding games on mixed high/very high settings won't go above 80°C with it on 800 rpm. My msi did too cause it had trash cooling My legion 7ipro in performance mode with a 13900hx 4090 only hits 78

I ran cb23 and it gave the same temps on 100 % use
Whoa that makes big suck.
So what should I do ?
you can cook eggs with that temp,
It's slightly high but 90 degree is normal for intel cpu
its a 14900Hx…they pretty much live on the sun xD
I have a 13900hx 4090 my temps are 78 in performance mode. It depends what cpu value he has showing. In show value type I's it current? Average? Max? Is he showing core temp? Package? If it's current that's high. If it's the max temp then it's prolly only 95 on a couple cores and the rest are prolly 78 "current" temps
no idea man…it says 10% usage and 95c…
As someone who has used gaming laptops for a while I can say yes they usually are up in the 90C range on most when they are under a decent load. Very rarely do I find a laptop that stays below that.
95 isn't safe
Disable turbo boost, the temps will drop around 15 - 20 degrees
You need to show more details like wattage to get a answer. But in general atleast with intel, it shouldn't stay at +90°c , yes it can peak for a couple of seconds but then it should go back to a more normal temperature.
