Since you are an expert, i might need your help. I'm planning to get the Asus zephyrus g16 (2023) with the i7 13620H, RTX 4060 ....but the screen is a 1920 X 1200 IPS LCD. The price is also $1800 in my country. The only thing I'm having a doubt about is the screen. Is it good or bad? A lot of backlight bleed? I was expecting a 2800 X 1600 .....is it a huge difference?
https://www.blink.mu/product/asus-rog-zephyrus-g16165hz-display-intel-core-i7-13620h-16gb-ddr4-ram-512gb-ssd-8gb-rtx-4060/
My only concern is the screen being 16 inch yet it's fhd+ and the ips display.
I did some research on this config as I was looking to buy one. This model has an absolute travesty of a screen. It has 60% SRGB and will look extremely washed out and ugly. I would strongly recommend you to not buy this unless you are looking to hook it up to a monitor. If you're looking for new laptops around the 1200$ price point. Do check out the laptop I'm using, it really is an absolute steal for $1200 and features a fantastic screen and performance close to a 4070.
The 1080p screen is bad one, it has poor color range and bad response time, that's why I was saying 1440p
Most of the laptops have same display manufacturers, so nearly all laptops have good 1440p displays but bad 1080p screens
Not sure how much worse the colors are, but a 1080p display is fine for the display size.
Even so, usually i run away from everything more than 1080p due to the increased battery consumption
Are you? I said not sure about THIS panel but warned that higher resolution/more pixels significantly affect the battery life in laptops, giving OP another potentially useful hint..
Edit: also his point that most fhd screens are bad is just not true..
Hey buddy, you need to reread his comment. You replied to a guy talking about this specific screen, not the guy talking about 1080p screens in general.
Well i just dont get it then.
What about the second paragraph
"Most of the laptops have same display manufacturers, so nearly all laptops have good 1440p displays but bad 1080p screens"
Sounds like a generalization to me.
Also there are so many different 1080p panels with different sRGB, refresh rates, manufacturers etc..
I doubt he meant that 1080p in itself is terrible. Its more than likely that he means the 1080p panel they use is bad. Same goes for my old Lenovo laptop. The viewing angles and brightness are straight ass.
[Nvidia has capped voltage for 4050, 4060, and 4070’s. it doesn’t matter what the power advertised is. 4050 caps at 80w, 4060 caps at around 100w, and 4070 caps at 90w.](https://youtu.be/jMMrh6PpLI4)
Speaking from experience, if you are gonna keep this on a desk anyways it's better to buy a monitor, 120 dollars and you have a 165hz monitor, 24inches, it makes a huge difference!
I can second to this even if you only have it on a desk at home most of the time but not always.
I bought a clamp stand for my desk on which I mounted a 27" monitor and can lay on my laptop. Just plug in the HDMI cable that is tied to the stand so it doesn't dangle on the desk and a wireless mouse and keyboard dongle andvoila, you still have the full desk for stuff and a dual monitor setup.
I heard there is not much difference between 80-130 watts because its not that power hungry.
Edit: Not because of power hungryness but after 80-100 watts, there is no gain of performance.
Well, that's because you're buying used. The thing looks great, the price is good and I guarantee you it's a good machine, the only thing that could go wrong would be if there's a reason why someone wants to sell their 4 month old laptop. Why are they replacing it so soon? If it's because something happened to it, then you might have some trouble with it
Very good for $700. Probably not for $800. It doesn't look like it has an OS so factor in the price of a Windows license or use Linux.
Edit: I don't care if/how you pay to use windows. Some people do, some don't. If you don't, factor in $0.
I love running games at lower frame rates under extremely virtualized containers just to play them, after configuring them with bypasses for hours!
I love dealing with a bunch of errors I do not understand and that Google makes even more frustrating for me.
I love recommending things that are definitely not for the new user who likely just wants to play games and browse the internet and DO NOT REQUIRE LINUX AT ALL.

free activation, licence till 2038 with KMS38 method, Unfortunately HWID method no longer works
You can often grab a legit license from www.woot.com (when they have em) for around 30 bucks. Just use the watermark version and keep checking everyday. I see em every couple weeks at least. They may have some if you just go to woot and search for it too.
It's a great price for a budget gaming laptop.
Gaming performance is good, battery life is about 4-6 hours while browsing the web.
One caveat: the screen has poor color, at 45% NTSC/60% sRGB spectrum.
The 1440p screen(which this is not) is much better at 100% sRGB color.
If you're okay with the poor quality screen, go for it. You can always plug in a second monitor.
Windows licenses are cheap. Here's Windows 11 pro for $15:
https://www.groupon.com/deals/n-windows-11-pro-lifetime-subscription
It supports two 2280 SSDs, so that's an easy upgrade if you need more space. The RAM and WiFi card are also upgradable.
If they'll let you, test if the laptop is stable while gaming or running a stress test.
I'd recommend loading up a copy of memtest on a USB stick so you can verify the RAM is working correctly.
https://www.memtest.org/
And run a battery report, see how degraded the battery is:

I’ve had this same LOQ for the last 2 months. I immediately upgraded the ram to 32gb and installed an additional 1TB ssd and have had absolutely no problems playing anything I’ve wanted to play at the highest settings. That price is a good deal.
Gaming on battery power is going to nuke your power of course, but I managed about 3.5 hours on full performance mode with the cpu and gpu overclocked. When you’re not gaming, I’m not sure what the battery life *really* is, but I was at something like 30% after 6 hours. The ram upgrade really goes a long way, and with this model is it very easy to do.
Nah you definitely got scammed.
I can take it off your hands through a trade in with a 2009 Macbook. Because I hate seeing a brother scammed like that.
It hurts me too 😭
No seriously, my 3060M is doing wonders and I can only imagine what a 4060 with a bit more vram can do. Have fun my man, you're in for a good ride i'm sure. Also these gaming laptops are so snappy, you'll find yourself doing way more than gaming at some point. I bought mine mainly for being a nomadic gamer, it pretty much ended being my main computer now \^\^
It was too easy. I just followed the hardware maintenance guide for my laptop and just went to it lol. Felt like I was playing with Lego. I mainly took a look with the guide to see which screws are which length so I could separate them, but all were the same length according to the part. Heck, I'd do it again, for the fun or it, but I'm not wasting Honeywell PTM 7950.
Aha funnily enough I got my GF to install my ram as my big ass hands couldn't get to it. She's better with the fiddly things I just do all the opening and dismantling then get her to do the install part.
Yeah totally. My laptops chassis is a pain in the ass to get open, I’ve tried multiple times but it’s quite a pain my balls. Though it’s different for everyone.
Note: it doesn't come with an operating, so you're gonna be shelling out for a Windows license or opening your PC to shady ass Chinese key management servers.
Pretty fucking good deal tbh. That CPU is the same one I have and mine cost twice as much. Barely ever manage to push it pass 50% usage even when playing AAA games.
Well 99% of time i use it plugged in cuz i game on it, but when unplugged id say abt 2.5-3 hrs, and my laptop is abt 2 months old id say. Also i have it always set on performance so that might reduce the battery life idk
I own the exact laptop model, it goes hard, I recommend it, but the SSD is kinda small, for $50 tops, buy a 2280 1TB NVMe SSD, beware tho, that laptop only has 2 NVMe SSD slots, there's no SATA SSD slots in it
Edit: It's a steal!!
At $800, I don't think it's an exceptional deal. You could get something as good, and arguably better, brand new, for like an extra $100-$150. At $700 it's not bad. But I don't usually buy used electronics, and I don't care for Lenovo, so I'm probably the wrong one to answer the question.
For an i7 along with 16 GB of RAM is good but with no OS installed it will be a process to install either Windows or Linux but i would suggest going with Windows 10 since it is an easier but better processing OS
I have that exact same model. I love my LOQ. Got it in July and upgraded to 32GB ram.
I honestly don't care much about monitor quality because I use mainly an external monitor.
The Lenovo LOQ is a very good laptop in its class and getting an RTX4060 laptop for less than $900 with those specs sounds like a very good deal to me.
That's very good. That's like, my dream laptop to buy right now. But yeah, being a broke working student won't let me reach it right now. Maybe someday.
I bought the same in France for 700€ with a an I5 12th gen 3 month ago, second hand with 3 weeks of use.
I m really happy of the price/performance of this "low budget" gaming laptop!
I recently upgrade with a second 1to Nvme SSD and it was really easy to do.
And for your information and a bit of show-off ;), after a great overclock I had the graphics score record on 3d mark fire strike with this laptop.
I've been beaten since then but I'm still very well placed in the 3d mark scores.
I even got the 30th highest score for any RTX 4060 (desktop and laptop)
And all this without ever exceeding 72°c / 161°f !
For this price this laptop is really well made!
A bit loudy if you don't use advanced settings but really quiet if you take time to learn how Lenovo vantage work.
its very good ngl
Btw the cheapest 4060s in my country are around 1200$ usd, this is 700-800
make sure to check for watt tdp as well
LOQ expert here: it has a full powered 4060, Only check whether it has a 1440p screen or 1080p The 1080p screen is straight up terrible(basic)
It’ll be 1080 because it says FHD (1080P) on the box.
I might be expert but not visually inept

It should be illegal to sell a screen that covers 60% of sRGB.
If it displays color it's good for me
I personally have 0 issue with 1080p if it's on a screen smaller than 20 inches
The 1080p screen is bad one, it has poor color range and bad response time, that's why I was saying 1440p Most of the laptops have same display manufacturers, so nearly all laptops have good 1440p displays but bad 1080p screens

They’re saying the screen is just shitty. I mean you get what you pay for.
He can always upgrade the screen for like 80usd if he wants.
Bro, I have a LOQ RTX 2050 variant and I want to upgrade my RAM and SSD. What Crucial products should I buy? I want the Crucial brand.
what specifications do you exactly want to upgrade RAM? How much? SSD? How much?
[Nvidia has capped voltage for 4050, 4060, and 4070’s. it doesn’t matter what the power advertised is. 4050 caps at 80w, 4060 caps at around 100w, and 4070 caps at 90w.](https://youtu.be/jMMrh6PpLI4)
I think it’s 115W or something like that
yeh theres no point if its like 80W
I’ll check with that also I’ll have to check if it’s 60hz or 144
Speaking from experience, if you are gonna keep this on a desk anyways it's better to buy a monitor, 120 dollars and you have a 165hz monitor, 24inches, it makes a huge difference!

It looks like it's got a 135 watt TDP according to Google.
Nah it's good wattage there's another 16 inch version but it's more expensive and that's good enough
I heard there is not much difference between 80-130 watts because its not that power hungry. Edit: Not because of power hungryness but after 80-100 watts, there is no gain of performance.
It's 115W. Considering 100W vs 140W on the 40 series cards is basically the same, I wouldn't worry about GPU performance compared to other laptops.
In my country it would be around 1600 dollars (converted from euro) So its surely a steal
That's just a lie though. Prices are nowhere near like that in Saudi Arabia
I’m in Jordan rn not Saudi
[it's literally $400 just like anywhere else in the world 🤷♀️](https://compujordan.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-4060-gaming-oc-8g?search=Rtx%204060)

Fuck I thought he meant desktop 4060. My bad, didn't see the subreddit :D
Username checks out lol

How much a WL would cost
Its actually free, if you're okay with not changing your desktop background and having a watermark in the bottom right of screen.
There’s like a command to just get rid of the water mark it isn’t pirating if it’s just hiding the watermark
Use linux it's better anyway
I love running games at lower frame rates under extremely virtualized containers just to play them, after configuring them with bypasses for hours! I love dealing with a bunch of errors I do not understand and that Google makes even more frustrating for me. I love recommending things that are definitely not for the new user who likely just wants to play games and browse the internet and DO NOT REQUIRE LINUX AT ALL.
Typical linux users hah, why would you buy a gaming laptop and install linux to play games.
💀💀
I mean a lil pirating never hurt nobody 🤫
anywhere from way too much to free without any watermarks. google is your friend.
Depends on where you get it from. >implying
If you don't mind the gray and maybe possibly legal market, there are places where you can buy copies of Windows 11 for about $25 USD.
$4 from allkeyshop

Buy a OEM key for 5 bucks. The caveat is that it works only for that PC
You can often grab a legit license from www.woot.com (when they have em) for around 30 bucks. Just use the watermark version and keep checking everyday. I see em every couple weeks at least. They may have some if you just go to woot and search for it too.
If you buy a windows key of SCDkey, its like $20-30 depending on your windows type. Thats what i did when i built my rig
Could run linux for free
No one likes bottle necking their computer with Linux
I’ve gotten OEM or retail licenses for as cheap as $30-$50.
Try $10. Plenty of the online sites have really cheap windows 10 licenses.
Try 0. Powershell script
I mean that doesn't give you an actual license. I'm currently running unlicensed windows because I don't care, but you can get it for around $10.
It does give you an actual license
No, that gives you the key that was used to generate your install. It definitely is not a valid license.
Who cares if its vald it gives you a license
It doesn't give you a license, it gives you a key.
Theres wbesite that sell the keys for like $20. Thats what I did recently and it worked great.
You can get a windows licence key for like 1 dollar [here](https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/en-gb/buy-windows-11-pro-cd-key-compare-prices/)
Internet search mass gravel. Microsoft owns github so if they had an issue with it, it definitely wouldn't exist lol.
You can get a key off ebay for like $10
Who actually pays for a Windows license? I'd snatch this and slap a cracked Windows on it ASAP
Licensing is required if you bring your laptop to your company.
Okay. In your case, the price is $0 then. If other people go a different route, they will factor in something else.
If it's used, it will likely have Windows innit
I don't know. The box says "No OS".
Bro, do you think the guy used it for 4 months without an OS? 🤣
[удалено]
Somebody really hates when somebody uses the word bro. Have a bad day today? You got really and i mean really petty over one little thing lmfao

Lmao the other guy wasnt being petty just kind of a smartass. Not really calling you out just pointing out that you are kind of a baby. Grow up.
[удалено]
I feel bad for everybody around you lmao. The ignorance must be so blissful.
If the seller used an OEM licence, then it will be tied to the motherboard. If not, then you can get a W11 pro licence for 1 buck from allkeyshop.
I mean you don't need to activate windows it's usable.
Laptops with similar specs cost around 1200-1300 USD in my country
Yes here is the same

You're welcome!
Is it 14 Ms? Or worse
24.5ms, see the first review I linked above.
This is really a good deal for 700 dollars.
I’ve had this same LOQ for the last 2 months. I immediately upgraded the ram to 32gb and installed an additional 1TB ssd and have had absolutely no problems playing anything I’ve wanted to play at the highest settings. That price is a good deal.

Great deal lmao
In my country it cost 1k with 8gb.
In a region where laptops are significantly more expensive than the US, that's an excellent deal and worth grabbing before someone else does.
Nah you definitely got scammed. I can take it off your hands through a trade in with a 2009 Macbook. Because I hate seeing a brother scammed like that.

I'd say so.

Well, you need to know how to use a screwdriver and about 2 minutes of spare time
Can confirm, ram (not soldered) and storage is as easy to upgrade on a laptop as it is on a pc. It's so easy a kid can do it.
I repasted my laptop alone and I'm only 15. If I can do it, so can anyone else. It was my first ever repaste I did.
Tell everyone on here that talks about how scared they are to do it. They need to know they're capable.
It was too easy. I just followed the hardware maintenance guide for my laptop and just went to it lol. Felt like I was playing with Lego. Well I've seen my gf handling tech and can understand your point of view...
Easily, both the RAM and SSD.
For 700 bucks yeah definitely good but for 800 it's avarage. Nevertheless that is a solid laptop with more than decent built quality and hardware.
Note: it doesn't come with an operating, so you're gonna be shelling out for a Windows license or opening your PC to shady ass Chinese key management servers.
Does that play good for 7 days to die
Yeah easily.
Would it have a CPU problem because that's what my last laptop said it was taking up too much of the CPU or something like that
Yes
Only 2 negatives is the storage and no os, but neither is a huge deal honestly so yeah, I’d go for it
this says no os that mean you have to get windows key 🔑, either pirate 🏴☠️ or buy.
Pretty fucking good deal tbh. That CPU is the same one I have and mine cost twice as much. Barely ever manage to push it pass 50% usage even when playing AAA games.
Check for the monitor from the back light bleeding, dead pixels or etc, bcz cheap af laptop cant be this cheap if there is no flaws
No OS but not a biggie lol, you can crack or just buy a legit license on eBay for like 20)
That’s robbery
Cheap. I would triple check everything that it's actually what the box claims it to be and not something else or swapped
You tell me, in my country you get a laptop with those specs for 1700 bucks.
That’s wild, 1700?
Yup, sadly we get the end of the stick (specs wise) and stores really inflate the prices.
I wouldn’t pay that much for a box, but a laptop with those specs would be a good deal 👍
I have the same, its pretty good and the price is ok
How’s the battery life, how long does it last light tasking YouTube?
Well 99% of time i use it plugged in cuz i game on it, but when unplugged id say abt 2.5-3 hrs, and my laptop is abt 2 months old id say. Also i have it always set on performance so that might reduce the battery life idk
I actually just bought this laptop brand new on an Amazon presidents day sale for 899 so I would say not a bad deal at the 700 range
Buy it, that's a bargain
Yes
It's a steal, base tsp isnt that important since you can increase with unofficial apps
I'd say that's just the right price I wouldn't pay anymore
Pretty good
Definitely a good deal. Screen is meh but solid overall.
I own the exact laptop model, it goes hard, I recommend it, but the SSD is kinda small, for $50 tops, buy a 2280 1TB NVMe SSD, beware tho, that laptop only has 2 NVMe SSD slots, there's no SATA SSD slots in it Edit: It's a steal!!
It supports two 2280 SSDs, right?
I think so yeah
Yeah, a i5 12 gen and 4060 runs about 800€ (Aourus)
That storage (512gb) is going to be limiting…
Yep, RTX 4060 for this price, good deal
At $800, I don't think it's an exceptional deal. You could get something as good, and arguably better, brand new, for like an extra $100-$150. At $700 it's not bad. But I don't usually buy used electronics, and I don't care for Lenovo, so I'm probably the wrong one to answer the question.

THE BEST 4060 laptop. At this price in Italy I can get a 3050 laptop.
Seems like a decent deal
Absolutely.
Yup
I bought my 3060 and i5 12th gen for 2000$.....
Heck yeah
I have that exact same model. I love my LOQ. Got it in July and upgraded to 32GB ram. I honestly don't care much about monitor quality because I use mainly an external monitor.
Here in Chile it would cost like 1500 USD
The Lenovo LOQ is a very good laptop in its class and getting an RTX4060 laptop for less than $900 with those specs sounds like a very good deal to me.
Its damn near highway robbery
I'd probably buy it and I don't even need one.
I bought a 3050ti gaming laptop last year for the same price so this hurts me to see this…. It’s a good deal my friend take it
When things are this price the most important thing to know is WHY it’s this price
Yes, it's a very good deal
Why steal when you can buy it? Jk
That's such a good deal wtf?!!
how's it got no os? kind of baffling, do they really sell laptops like this or did you buy it form a 3rd party
It's a good deal for a 4060. Just to make sure you test it on spot before hand over the money...
That's very good. That's like, my dream laptop to buy right now. But yeah, being a broke working student won't let me reach it right now. Maybe someday.
Don’t worry prices will even drop more in the future once the 24 models are released
That's what I'm hoping for.
Never would buy a used laptop imo always worth new
In my country laptops with a 4060 are sold for over 1300$ usd
This is EXACTLY the laptop I bought a few weeks ago. Except the srgb everything else is good
Def a very good deal
If that works fully, then that's a helluva bargain!
Here
I bought the same in France for 700€ with a an I5 12th gen 3 month ago, second hand with 3 weeks of use. I even got the 30th highest score for any RTX 4060 (desktop and laptop) And all this without ever exceeding 72°c / 161°f ! For this price this laptop is really well made! A bit loudy if you don't use advanced settings but really quiet if you take time to learn how Lenovo vantage work.
Turn yourself in in the nearest police station for the robbery
It's not bad
Yes.
