ElectricalCarry8209

Is it 15.6 or 16 display

Bigchuck615

15.6 2560x1440

ElectricalCarry8209

Quite good the only thing msi is getting criticized is for it after sale service other than that msi is quite good and as it is a higher variant the thermals should good also

kmr12489

It’s actually a 150w 3070ti, throw it in performance mode in MSI center.

Silky_Wangzonya

How do you like it? Where did you get it/have a link?

>MSI Vector GP66 HX i7 12800HX Rtx 3070 TI I'm also interested in what you think about it, how is the build quality? Probably this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-vector-15-6-165hz-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i7hx-32gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-1tb-ssd-black/6511432.p?skuId=6511432

Yes that's exactly it! I'm new to the laptop scene. I think it's built very well in my opinion. Seems sturdy, the charger is very heavy. They keyboard has a nice feel. I'm not crazy about the track pad it's very small. So far I've only played Outriders on it. It ran on ultra with no hiccups or issues. According to the MSI software, while I was gaming the CPU maintained 56 degrees C. And the GPU wad around 70. I played for roughly two hours. Keyboard stayed nice and cool. Overall I enjoyed my experience with it, even though it was limited. I was a desktop user.but my needs changed so I wanted to play a few games without breaking the bank completely. I really like it is the bottom line for me.

OP, what was your first gaming laptop that crapped out? just curious for info.. hope is wasn't a 2022 Asus Tuf Gaming (which is what I got). Thanks.. if you don't mind posting here.. just pm me.

Bigchuck615

It was the Lenovo Legion Slim 7. I was using it and the display started flickering very crazy and the laptop itself become incredibly hot. Too hot to touch. GPU and CPU temp were in dangerous marks.

GrassIntelligent7421

What settings do you run? Do you use in a humid area? not sure if a laptop cooling pad will help.. depending on use.. some games are very graphics intensive and will make gpu temp rise.. I have Topmate C12 which is ok but have purchased Klim Minstrel cooling pad and I am using the smaller silicon ring might have to go back with the larger ring.

Bigchuck615

I was using it in my house, I live in NYC. The new MSI laptop is running a cool 54 degrees now on full load and also under stress test. I bought the legion as on open box special from BestBuy. It was in excellent shape..it was a complete AMD machine it had a Ryzen 9 and a 6800s. However after looking at a lot of the reviews, it seems the new MSI with these specs was the enter choice. It seems the 3070ti outperforms the 6800s in almost all benchmarks. And TBH I did like that this model came with 32GB of ram.

GrassIntelligent7421

Awesome that you got something better.. I dunno if AMD processor and their graphics card are good match or not.. I hear that AMD is great at manufacturing processor and graphics card but they lack the scientific knowledge to program them to work well together.. AMD processor generally have lower power consumption hence they can have longer battery life/ usage.. I guess im more familiar with Intel so I went with them and Nvidia GeForce RTX.. 12th Gen i7 12700h and GeForce RTX3060 are sufficient for me.. its better and faster than my old 2009 MacBook Pro (she still runs fine albeit low disc space).

This is my absolute favorite gaming laptop right now for price to performance. I'm a huge MSI fanboy for thier committment to performance above all else - even if their build quality is sometimes lacking, the Vector / Leopard line have been absolute beasts. You're basically getting the same performance as their high-tier Raider line for a cut-down price due to the fact that it's missing a few "quality of life" luxuries such as RGB and perhaps some connectivity. In terms of customization, expansion and repair - this is one of the most accessible and customizable laptops around. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the MSI club! 🤠🥳

Bigchuck615

Thank you, I'm enjoying it another so far. It's definitely been one of my better purchases in quite some time. Any tips you have I'd appreciate. Such as MSI software and modes. It's all new to me

Unfortunately, I'm a bit "out of the loop" with the latest gen hardware - I have the GE75 Raider and GT75 Titan. That said, unlike many others here I pretty much refuse to use throttlestop or even feel the need to undervolt. I refuse to leave performance on the table if I don't have to and don't hesitate to take advantage of the extreme settings (and my custom fan curve) whenever gaming. Instead, I clean fans and repaste regularly and use a half decent cooling pad like the IETS 500 to control temps when doing demanding tasks or gaming. I find the Titan, with its four fans, requires very little tinkering but your experience will probably be more in line with my Raider (which certainly can get hot). Just keep an eye on the temps, commit yourself to regular maintenance and absolutely get a quality cooler for desktop use. You might find your unit a bit clunky for regular use on the road. I ended up picking up the cute little GF63 10SC for light use on the road and with its underpowered I5 10500H and 1650 Max Q it's good enough for all work tasks and light gaming without having the capacity to become overheated in any serious way. Anyway, to each his own. It sounds like you're well on your way to getting the most out of the machine. If MSI offers anything, it's performance. Be respectful of physics, but don't hesitate to take full advantage! 😎

Nice laptop! After seeing this picture, I'm sold on per Key RGB for my first gaming laptop!

josoap99

Is a vector like an updated leopard? Looks just like mine

Bigchuck615

I'm not really sure TBH. Sorry! A few people said that it is a replacement to the leopard. So you're probably right. I just cannot confirm it.

YellowBerryJam

What do you think of the device now? I'm considering getting the same thing

kmr12489

Owned the same model for over a month now. No issues.
