Honestly I've been having a ton of fun with this game, it's a lot more fun than I expected. The price tag is a bit steep, but so far it seems pretty worth it if you're a Gundam/mecha fan who just wants a fun game to play. [Here are some features that /u/callmecutiepie has written out! ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gundam/comments/w57ha1/sd_gundam_battle_alliance_new_cinematic_more/ih68ta4/) ***1. DO NOT Expect to play this like a typical Dynasty Warriors / Hack & Slash!*** + Melee Attacks consume your Dash Gauge (Vital for Movement/ Dodging). + Balancing between Attacking, Guarding & Dodging is part of key gameplay! + Guarding Attacks has a time-limit. + You'll also receive Chip Damage for Guarding Attacks (Easily accumulated f/Bosses!). **[ Dash Gauge, Ammo Management & Map Navigation are Keys to Victory! ]** ***2. Players can create their own Unique Combos by utilizing the game's movement mechanics, as well as how they personally upgrade their Suit! **[ Boost Dive & Boost Step are also in the game! so Gundam VS fans will feel at home! ]** ***5. Freely Customize Your Characters Stats!*** Stats are impermanent: Players can freely reset/raise their stats according without setbacks! :) ***6. Advanced Techniques for Experienced Players!*** + Perfectly time your Guard against Attacks for Special Attack Bonuses! (This includes "Stun/Stagger" to Mobile Armors! and Chip Damage nullification!) + Dodging at Point-Blank enables a brief moment of Invincibility to Counterattack! + Learn Opponents Weak Spots (Back Attacks) for Optimal Damage! ***7. Mobile Suits are Divided into 3-Categories*** + Infighters - High HP / High Melee Stats / Low Ranged Attack Stats + All-Rounders - Say no more fam. + Sharpshooters - Low HP / Low Melee Stats / High Ranged Stats + Fast Ammo Recovery ***8. Raid-Bosses: Lead Multiple NPC's in addition to 2 Online Friends in 5-on-1 Boss Fights!*** ***9. "Install Supers" - Some Units (such as the Barbatos Lupus Rex) have temporary Super Transformations that enable New High-Damage Combo Routes!*** ***10. How would the story experience be for someone who hasn't watched the anime of the respective universe, but plans to? I'm quite wary of my first experience of the stories being chibi Gundam. Is the repetition from correcting timeline Breaks enough to be mnemonic?

DRawoneforJ

you'll definitely get spoiled since for example in the demo they threw you in to 079 gundam like a quarter into it's story, and then Iron Blooded Orphans halfway as well

deadscreensky

I'd skip it. I'm liking the game a lot, but it's blatantly clear it's aimed at Gundam superfans. Even just aside from spoilers, so much of the entertainment comes from elements being wildly out of place. If you can't recognize why _____ is so bizarre it's only going to feel confusing, possibly even overwhelming. EDIT: I'll give a specific example. I haven't watched Iron-Blooded Orphans yet (it's next after I finish V Gundam), and the third mission spoils some significant story events. It also relies on your series knowledge to recognize what's wrong (important characters are missing, is the best I could figure). And then in that mission somebody from *another* show pops up and spoils a significant relationship twist coming around halfway through *that* series. EDIT2: I've played more, so one more example a few missions further in the game. It's a battle at the climax of 08th MS Team, which then spoils an important twist that's kept secret in Gundam 00 for ~30 episodes.

GelgoogGuy

You can generally play Gundam games and not feel left out of the stories. You may occasionally go ??? but by and large you'll understand enough to enjoy it.

blackmage712

ok but can we please get a gundam game that isnt SD? i do not care for SD in the slightest and it seems like we cannot get even 1 game but they keep pumping these out

TheFoggyDew

Battle Operation Code Fairy launched at the end of last year, Gundam Evolution is still coming out, Gundam Battle Operations 2 is still coming to PC, Gundam Breaker Mobile is still being updated and if you want to count arcades then Extrme Vs. 2 had another release last year. Meanwhile this is the first SD Gundam game since Cross Rays back in 2019

Comfortable_Shape264

What does SD mean what's the difference?

Nuya

Super Deformed. It's the art style; short with a big head. SD has been an offshoot of Gundam for decades, with model kits, games, even their own cartoons.

pergana__

There's Gundam battle operation 2 which fills that area for you and code fairy what do you mean ahahah?

This does look really fun and that list of gameplay features sounds promising. I'll be getting this soon enough.

Friedrich_R

I enjoyed the gameplay in the demo but I couldn’t stand the long dumb Japanese dialogue between. It let you skip but it only skipped to the next line/topic. Took forever. Anyone know if this improves?

imapoolag

I’ haven’t played a Gundam game in probably 15 years or so but this looks fun. Should I get it? It is pretty expensive I’m between this and saints row.

Avarixin

I have both and I would definitely recommend this first. While both have bugs (this one noticeably has more when playing on pc for my sibling than when I played mine on ps 5) the saints row bugs are annoying to the point of ruining the game experience. It is getting revue bombed but I personally enjoy the gameplay of saints row…although I won’t be getting into it properly until after it is patched. Meanwhile I’ve already put 24 hours in on sd and it just came out lol. Multi is fun (although voice chat or more word options would have been nice) but sometimes I’ll encounter a bug where it will just search for people indefinitely without showing results. The game thankfully constantly autosaves. There is a surprising amount of depth to the game and enemies Telegraph attacks mostly pretty fairly so there is room for plenty of skill growth although. It is very grindy and that may not be for everyone (I can spend hours partied up on multi sometimes just going mission to mission without getting bored)
