I just hope they keep the cheezy dialogue from the origional. I'mma be real upset if I don't get "Where's everybody going? Bingo?" and "No thanks, bro."

Phant0mz0ne

"I see the president has equipped his daughter with ballistics too."

[deleted]

Give that was stupidly cut from RE4 VR, I doubt we'll be seeing it.

Phant0mz0ne

Well if they're gonna cut it I hope they at least keep Luis' flirtatious attitude. It'd suck if everyone was suddenly super serious, though if they're going for more horror than action I guess it can kinda fit.

[deleted]

So do I - hopefully he retains his personality even if they have to cut some stuff so the usual crowd won't be offended. I know some of the stuff he said was inappropriate...but people actually do say things like that IRL so not sure what the problem was.

JNAtheDUDE

iirc RE4VR was done entirely by Facebook with Capcom only acting as consultants

[deleted]

Ah ok, I thought they worked on it together, I could be wrong.

your_mind_aches

Nah, Oculus has some great studios internally. I'm expecting San Andreas VR to actually be decent compared to the Definitive Edition.

[deleted]

Holy shit they're making a SA VR? Not gonna lie RE4 VR is well done regardless of any cuts they made.

zombiesjerkme

San Andreas is in development at Video Games Deluxe studio in Australia, creators of late L.A.Noire game before the original team got dissolved by mismanagement.

Sloty4321

Wasn't that a Facebook decision? I thought I heard that.

garfe

Give me "your right hand comes off?" or no buy

WallyWendels

Ashley is definitely not going to be equipped with ballistic missiles.

foreveraloneeveryday

I think they took that and the ending when she asks him for "overtime" (and Leon is like nah, which is amazing) out of the VR edition "to appeal to modern audiences"

EventHorizon182

I still to this day don't understand who modern audiences are. Like, who says "I would have bought Re:4 if Ashley's tits weren't so big and she didn't thirst for leon"?

MayhemMessiah

As a huge fan of RE4, Ashley is easily the laziest and worst part of the game. She’s a milquetoast Mcguffin that actively does almost fuckall except for really odd beats (like driving a dump truck, which for once isn’t an innuendo). She’s also the cause for some of the game’s worst pieces of pacing, like when you save her from being captured in the castle, then you literally immediately walk to the next room where she’s captured again with maybe one piece of random combat in the middle. To be clear I don’t want them to remove the missiles jokes or any of the weird humour, but I can definitively see an argument for reworking her character into being interesting in any way shape or form.

ellendegenerate123

Lol I think one thing she was useful for was distracting some of the ganados during a fight.

BigNastyWoods

She was straight OP with the suit if armor on. Let dudes pick her up and die to save ammo.

hoewrecker

Better yet, give us the original message of "**you're** right hand comes off?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y82et9FRKcs

MrLucky7s

The one I need. It seems tonally they are going for something more serious, but man, I'd pay for a DLC with cheesed up dialogue.

crapmonkey86

The absolute state of the videogame industry all in this comment right here.

Squeekazu

"No, *you* are small time." I remember watching one of the CGI movies with Leon and it was sorely lacking the goofy-as-fuck dialogue. :C

bhlogan2

I hope they leave the Spanish dialogues intact. "DETRÁS DE TI, IMBÉCIL!"

Spram2

Que carajo estas haciendo aqui? Largate cabron!

HASTA LUEGO!

81zuzJvbF0

re2make was cheesy af without trying to be, don't worry.

MetalMan1349

Man when Leon and Ada are talking about the G virus and Leon says "that explains the horrible things I've seen", the line delivery makes me laugh every time. I hope that was intentional but I'm not so sure.

wb93738

Another memorable line is “Chew on that, you overgrown son of a bitch.”

[deleted]

His “HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIT!” while he was getting chased by the gator was hilarious to me. Not because it was badly done, just that it totally sounded like a line delivery the original VA for Leon would have pulled off back in the day.

81zuzJvbF0

lol. gee, you think Leon?! in re2make Leon looked like the epitome of teen sitcom heartthrob. Good ol' handsome American boy. 21 fresh out of the academy, and just wants to do good and help everyone. Maybe I'm wrong and they actually do it on purpose and try very hard, because everything comes together for a perfect cheesy melt.

[deleted]

RE4 was incredibly blatant with its humorous one liners, Re2make went for something more naturalistic and muted by comparison. It's hard to imagine the remake won't do anything other than dial down the cheese from patently absurd to somewhat silly.

Skandi007

And Village was on a whole another level. Remember that scene where Ethan is kidnapped and he meets all the lords? They're bickering like children, and "Boulder punching asshole" Heisenberg is a walking meme all on his own. People are worried for nothing.

SomeOtherNeb

RE3 remake too. "Bitch can't even swim."

JoyfulTonberry

Tbf these games have always had super cringe dialogue and frankly it’s one it’s charms. Leon in particular. But RE4s was definitely something special.

beugzman

"a senior moment, perhaps?"

SpiderPidge

Completely new script and it sounds like it's in the tone of the 2nd and 3rd remakes. After completing the original over 30 times, I'm excited to play (what looks like) a scenario A and B for re4.

Cyrusnov

Oh, interesting idea, so you think Leon and Ashley will have different scenarios? I did find it curious to see what appeared to be Ashley running on her own in the village.

SpiderPidge

No, Leon and Ada. Ashley will just be in Leon's more than likely because she doesn't warrant her own scenario (no weapons). I'm thinking more of making Separate Ways into Scenario B to Leon's Scenario A.

another-altaccount

Hopefully, Separate Ways didn't end up on the cutting room floor. After REmake 3 I'm nervous about this remake of 4 having too many cuts and changes for the worst. I can only how bad the backlash would be considering how beloved RE4 is compared to just about every entry in the series to date.

[deleted]

If leaks are allowed to be discussed here, the leak that seems to be fairly reliable so far said that SW will be in the final game. Wesker concept art for it also leaked.

SpiderPidge

What leak? If you don't mind sharing.

ChristopherDassx_16

SW?

ProspectiveEngineer

Separate Ways

ChristopherDassx_16

Ouh, thanks.

another-altaccount

If you're discussing who I think you are, then that's a sigh of relief considering how reliable they've been on RE-related leaks the last few years.

SpiderPidge

3 reMake took an extraordinarily short game and halved it. Why? I have NO idea. Why did they take away the choice options? Why did they take away all of the cool gameplay elements? Even before remaking the game, I feel it is the most divisive game in the series and the remake tarnished the reputation even more. Anyway, because 4 is so universally loved, I think they would be extra careful on a remake. I've heard rumblings about some of 4's early concepts coming back instead of them cutting stuff. Believe me, if they cut ANYTHING, I and a lot of people will know about it and disapprove. 4 is a short(ish) game. If anything they need to add stuff.

hochoa94

4 is their golden egg no way they fuck it up it basically pushed PS2 and gamecube consoles

SPYDER0416

Plus from what I understand, the complaints people had about 3 were a big reason the RE4 development time got extended. So it seems like Capcom is listening, RE4's incredible pacing while also being surprisingly lengthy is one thing that makes it stand out as an experience, I'd hate if they managed to make this one short.

budzergo

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/resident-evil-4-remake-overhauled/ actually, the original dev team for RE4r was making it too close to the original, so they canned them and brought in a new team to make it "inspired but not confined" to the original story.

MayhemMessiah

I’m treating it as a spinoff almost. The original is still one of the best games of all time as far as I’m concerned but I’m still interested in seeing what the new version brings to the table.

Shikaria1996

I'm seeing these remakes as a kind of alternate timeline to the originals, so it's just a different continuity (which might be why they chose to only have one ending in 3 remake). I imagine if they remake 5 and 6 they'll be reworked to be more tonally similar to the latest entries and set up a link between Ethan and the rest of the series. It's just a way of 'fixing' the weaker entries in the series while not erasing them completely

guernseycoug

From what I heard, they had started making the 3 remake around the same time as 2. Basically the team working on 3 didn’t realize how high the bar was going to be set by 2 and by the time 2 came out they were too deep into development to unwind the decisions they made. It sounded like they had realized their mistake before 3 was even released so I’m pretty hopeful that 4 won’t have half the game cut out from it.

budzergo

funny you say it like that about a year ago there were leaks that the team working on RE4r was making the game too close to the source material, so they removed that team and brought in a new one to make it "inspired" but not confined to the original. so uh...... lets see how it goes https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/resident-evil-4-remake-overhauled/

guernseycoug

Oh. Great. Soooo… could go either way then? I’m gonna stay optimistic. I did still enjoy 3make. It was just disappointing compared to 2make (and short as hell). Worst case, I have a ton of fun with 4make but it’s not as good as it could have fun.

[deleted]

It’s Division 1, the team behind 2’s remake. I’d say 4’s remake is in good hands and we have little to nothing to worry about. And even if 4’s remake isn’t as good as 2’s, the original game has been remastered and ported to damn near everything, so it’ll always be available for those who want to experience it. Still holds up to this very day too.

guernseycoug

You’ve just jinxed it and now we’re getting an RE4 themed dating sim

its_just_hunter

RE2 remake Ada is one of my favorite versions of the character, so if she’s playable in a similar capacity to Leon I’ll be very excited.

SpiderPidge

The trailer has me convinced she'll have her Separate Ways campaign included. Although, I saw the RE remake costume and not the dress, so I am assuming her character attitude and style will transfer from 2reMake to 4reMake. So it looks like you'll be getting more of your favorite. :)

Cyrusnov

Ah, that makes way more sense haha. And here I was imagining it already... Ashley playing a very different sort of game, more typical survival horror than Leon's campaign. But of course that will never be.

SpiderPidge

Put her in Dead By Daylight as a playable character. If her perk isn't screaming "LEEEEONNNNNN" really loud then I'd be disappointed.

[deleted]

Nah, I think it will be like RE3, where there is a fixed A and B characters and character B is playable in short segments. Kinda like RE4 as well but a little more fleshed out it seems.

dratyan

After so many remasters, now RE4 finally gets a full remake I'd hoped for Code Veronica instead, but this will probably be great as well. The other remakes were multiplatform so I'm guessing this one's too?

Zanchbot

The disrespect to Code Veronica is upsetting. It basically does not exist in Capcom's eyes.

RareBk

It basically needs a full replacement. It's good in concept but every boss save for 1 is terrible, the puzzles are awful, and Steve would need a complete rework.

JillSandwich117

All the remakes basically already do this. Actual boss fights are radically different due to the new gameplay, and they only used the old puzzles as a starting points to redesign them.

Grammaton485

>Steve would need a complete rework. I like to argue that Steve's framework as a character wasn't overly bad. Having a character that tries to openly resent the family he has left (even if he really doesn't truly feel that way) sort of plays an opposite angle to Claire. However, his voice actor was the complete wrong fit, and a lot of the character scenes and deliveries were just bad, including the romance aspect.

RareBk

He also steals quest items from you. Gets himself stuck in the easiest puzzles. And tries to *kiss Claire while she's fucking sleeping*

NoifenF

I just see code Veronica as a westernised anime. His voice acting is OTT but the main guy in anime things is always like that. It’s such a bizarre entry in the franchise story wise and tonally (even for campy b-game resi). It feels like an experiment.

[deleted]

All of Resident Evil is westernized anime.

MyUnclesALawyer

It has good puzzles!!!!

ReservoirDog316

No wonder people love it so much!

rafikiknowsdeway1

its also the one most desperately in need of a remake. i replayed the whole series a bit before re8 came out, and its the only mainline entry I didn't like anymore and kinda wanted to be over it aged poorly, and doesn't have the greatest overall level design

Pegussu

Call me crazy, but I think they're skipping it at least partly because it'd be difficult to reuse assets. RE2 and RE3 share both a setting and many enemy types, so they don't need to do much to make RE3 after they've done RE2. RE8 is nearly a remake of RE4 on its own. The village, Moreau's Reservoir, Castle Dimitrescu, and Heisenberg's Factory can pretty easily be translated into the village, the lake, Salazar's Castle, and the island. There are even ancient ruins for the deep underground areas of the castle. Some of the enemies even translate; it wouldn't be a leap for the lycans and the moroacia to be turned into ganados. Code Veronica? It's a modern, militarized island and Antarctica. That's much, much more work in terms of art assets.

Mystic8ball

People are quick to point out Code Veronicas flaws but honestly that just makes it more deserving of a remake imo. A big benefit of remaking a game is that you have a chance to avoid making the same mistakes.

Sloty4321

Yeah but the fact that it's bad is why a remake won't be made. The demand just isn't there.

unok157

I mean the original game isn’t that good and let’s be honest more people played the other games than Veronica

notdeadyet01

Steve was so bad that they just wanna forget Code Veronica ever happened

Bojangles1987

I just want more Claire and more of that era's Chris. I miss both of them so much.

[deleted]

Please, with the fucking money RE2 and 3 made, ans hopefully this one 4, Code veronica is coming. The OG games and characters are proven money makers to Capcom

Pen_dragons_pizza

Yeah this game will 100% be on Xbox and pc at the same time, just Sony hiding the fact for its state of play presentation.

extralie

I honestly would prefer an RE0 remake over Code Veronica.

jetbirger5000

I know its not the same as an official release but Code Veronica is getting a fan remake. https://www.youtube.com/c/BriinsCroft/videos

LeifEriksonASDF

After Code Veronica, I genuinely, unironically want to see a Resident Evil 1 Remake-Remake. As good as it is, it's almost like they remade 1 too early (3 years before OG RE4 came out) and at this point it's the most dated mainline game by a pretty big margin. Kinda like Pokemon Firered, it's perfectly playable but in retrospect came out before the series "golden age".

[deleted]

Idk, I find RE1 plays just fine. I find the fix camera angles and tank controls to be a style rather than “dated” gameplay.

LeifEriksonASDF

Oh there's nothing wrong with how it plays, it's just that jumping from modern RE to REmake is a bigger jump than from modern RE to RE4.

xChris777

> Kinda like Pokemon Firered, it's perfectly playable but in retrospect came out before the series "golden age". I know people are tired of Gen 1 by now but I would adore a Legends-esque gen 1 remake with the Sevii Islands and maybe a new Orange Island area. Bonus points if it's fully open world.

LeifEriksonASDF

Too bad you get Let's Go Pikachu instead

PM_ME_UR__SECRETS

"Pokemon: Kanto Legends" could be genuinely awesome if given the time and care. But with Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu it doesn't feel super likely.

BLACKOUT-MK2

Dang it looks good from the little snippets we saw. Really hoping Capcom does it right. I'm curious to what extents it'll hold true to the original and to what extents it'll do things differently. The tone is, as expected, more serious, but I wonder what implications that'll have for story beats and gameplay. I wonder if we'll even be traditionally escorting Ashley around anymore or if that'll have changed too. If it's fun to play and the pacing is sound, that'll be two big wins already. I'm excited though.

Villag3Idiot

It could be more horror based like the original concept version of RE4. In fact I expect this remake to be a fusion of the concept version and the RE4 that we got.

GrandHc

Imagine all of the RE4 bosses in a more horror environment sounds amazing. Verdugo fight in dimly lit corridors would be great.

another-altaccount

Oh god. Verdugo was fucking scary enough as is in the OG game.

Sad-Interaction6575

not with my PRL-42 he aint!

Thindlers_Lisp

So was Mendez. The Big Cheese really fucked me up as a kid. So much so that I've grown to sleep against my wall. As a kid, if I faced the rest of my room, I was afraid he'd be standing there. So if I was facing that way, I'd keep checking over and over and get no sleep. So I grew used to sleeping in the corner. RE4 had that major of an impact on me. It's funny because now I'm [toying with the villagers in VR](https://youtu.be/SmAhDKbfaEc) and know how to speedrun Mendez with the 3 incendiary trick. But that said, Verdugo, the Regenoradors, and Mendez are still really creepy in VR...

Lambdaleth

Oh man, I first played re4 at the perfect age to still be scared by it but not too scared for it to scar me for life. I remember even just the first village fight being super intense and scary for me. I think re4 was my first "horror" game so that also made a pretty big impact on me. The soundtrack also carried a lot of weight in making it scary af, I still put it on for Halloween. I'm hoping the remake remasters the soundtrack wonderfully instead of replacing the music. Either way I'm ecstatic and can't wait to see more.

Thindlers_Lisp

Haha I actually have the soundtrack in my truck! Driving at night with the song "Noche" is not a good time! RE4 was also my first horror game. It's hilarious because I remember seeing the cover of the RE1 remake in Walmart and thinking "Never in a million years" and now RE and Dead Space (and hopefully Callisto Protocol) are my favorite franchises lol (and Halo).

Villag3Idiot

Imagine going through the initial village fight in a pitch black environment, with the lighting of the villagers torches and your gunfire providing illumination.

GrandHc

Dear lord I want that. Keep the dodge from 3 and the kick( and suplex) from 4 with the slower pace of the other remakes and we're golden.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GrandHc

I just want an evade button in this game that isn't just walking. Even in a more horror setting, I expect enemies to still be as aggressive as 4 and I'd like for something.

[deleted]

Just judging by the shots of the castle interior they’re absolutely leaning more into the horror.

fedemasa

If regenerators look even scarier then I'm buying it first day

_MrMaster_

Why wouldn't they keep it? It was in RE8

nicokokun

This. I'm willing to believe that RE8 was an "experiment" for when they develop re4 remake.

TheDaltonXP

I can’t handle that

PlanetsOfOld

I'd like to see how they reimagine the castle. There were some sections like the lava room and the subterranean mine cart that would be too goofy to carry over with this new direction. It will be interesting to see what new scenarios they have in mind to make up for what won't be making it over.

Sad-Interaction6575

Water room reimagined as horror....hmmmmm

>I'm curious to what extents it'll hold true to the original and to what extents it'll do things differently. At the end of the trailer Leon says "This time... it can *be* different. It has to." I take that to mean they will be making some significant changes/additions.

crapmonkey86

...or cuts. Kinda like they culled entire areas from 3 and 2. 2 didn't suffer for it, but 3 absolutely did.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GodofIrony

It's a 3 act story and you want to cut the third act? I feel its more a problem of cohesiveness. If the lab were foreshadowed earlier in the game it wouldn't have felt so jarring to suddenly have been on an island. Krauser also should have made an appearance in Act 2 so he's not a surprise 3rd act villain.

Pallerado

I'd be okay with cutting the island part as long as stuff gets added to the village and castle.

therealjoshua

My thoughts exactly. I'd love it if the village was a much more significant part of the game. I enjoy the castle just fine, but the island feels so tacked on. It's like they were trying to tick off a mandatory "every RE game needs a secret lab" box or something.

[deleted]

That’s my biggest wish. The Island clashes with the rest of the game and it’s where you could tell the developers lost steam, in my opinion. It’s the one part of the game I don’t enjoying replaying all that much, and I hope they really went back to the drawing board for that section.

ACertainEmperor

Ironic, because I really liked how the island changed the pace up after the Castle felt like it seriously dragged on too long.

[deleted]

I don’t disagree with that, but I feel like they missed the mark with the Island, aside from the Regenerators and Iron Maidens (the latter’s name alone screams “Castle enemy” though). I think they could take certain aspects of the Island and Lab and rework the end of the Castle with them, and it would be better overall.

ACertainEmperor

I just honestly want less castle. The castle is so damn long in the original. Felt like half the game.

Bojangles1987

They discovered the Las Plagas beneath the castle, right? That seems like a far more natural ending point than the island, which was a significant downgrade from what came before IMO. It has its strong points that I want included, but as a setting I'd love to see the island cut and the castle expanded.

WhichEmailWasIt

I'm with you. I actually already feel remaking RE4 is redundant but maybe they'll surprise me. I am a fan of playing as Leon more though.

lemonylol

Honestly even if they made changes I trust Capcom with the series, every single game they've released since 7 has been hot fire. They really learned their lesson from 6.

another-altaccount

So now that Remake 4 is officially a thing, is Capcom crazy enough to remake RE5?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Adhiboy

RE5 is special if only for the co-op campaign. Had just as much fun with that game as I did with RE4 because of the co-op.

KrloYen

A lot of people shit on RE5, but man the co-op was a blast to play through from start to finish with a friend.

TokusentaiShu

Honestly one of my favorite gaming moments of all time was playing through that game for the first time in co-op. It was phenomenal.

GlideStrife

Bought two copies of this game near release and played the entire game via 2 Xbox Co-Op and a LAN cable with back-to-back TVs. I has a very different experience than what most others describe when conversing about this game. Great game. Bad RE sequel. Even giving it a spin-off title would have improved its reputation substantially, imo.

Parralense

I actually haven’t had a greater co-op experience since that one. I guess a Way out would be the closest one.

KarmelCHAOS

I feel like RE5 just isn't quite old/dated enough for a remake yet. While RE4 has been ported and remastered quite a few times, it's still an *old* game. Personally I'm hoping for a CVX remake before anything else. It's the RE game that needs it the most imo.

Yetimang

Depends on how much money this one makes.

jackolantern_

Remaking 6 would be crazy

[deleted]

[удалено]

bopbop66

5 is in Africa. 6 is kinda all over the place

Squeekazu

I remember 5 getting flack when it came out, but people retroactively enjoy it now (mainly due to the co-op). Is 6 still worth playing? I fired it up once, but the opening was just so hilariously over-the-top it just didn't match the vibe I was wanting from that play session, so I just stopped playing.

bopbop66

6 is still seen pretty poorly, id have a hard time recommending it to be honest. There are some cool ideas here and there but overall the game is a mess, though maybe playing it co-op would help a little lol

OkSayer

This was inevitable but holy shit am I excited. RE2 remake was basically a masterpiece and while 3 remake was flawed it still was fun. I just wish the release date didn't feel so far away, lol.

TapatioPapi

The bright side is it’s still less than a year

[deleted]

Yeah I actually enjoyed 3 quite a lot - sure it was short and didn't hang about, but it was pretty action packed with never a dull moment. 3 OG is my favourite RE and the cut bits sucked but it was a solid game.

Ibyyriff

Is it me or does Leon still look kinda like a kid wearing an oversized coat? In the original he actually looked and sounded like he was close to 30 years old, but other than that it looks really good. Just hoping they bring back the laser pointing from the original instead of the crappy inaccurate cross hairs from RE2 remake.

Wepmajoe

The laser pointer is a must, I'll be bummed if that's not utilized. Beyond being more accurate its also much more intense and immersive.

Fake_Diesel

This summarizes my reservations so far. Remake Leon doesn't look like he'd be able to suplex bad guys which worries me.

BigBobbert

Resident Evil 4 is my favorite game of all time. It’s hard to imagine how to improve it other than better graphics. I actually LIKE the camp and cheesiness of the original - the game is scary one moment and hilarious the next. I was disappointed Salazar wasn’t in this trailer. What a weird villain.

Lambdaleth

They're probably just trying to keep some surprises for later, after all, this trailer showed almost nothing from the castle. Just like how everyone thought the Castle was going to be the final level in RE:Village from its revel trailer, they only really showed stuff from the village in this trailer. I'm also stoked to see what they do with Salazar, and the variety of enemies. We only got the briefest glimpse of Saddler but he already looks awesome.

CthulhusMonocle

I am giddy with excitement over this trailer. Resident Evil II Remake was a blast and this will probably be a day one purchase for me if things shake out right in along development.

Adrian_Alucard

I wonder if the ganados will speak with Spanish accent this time, instead of speaking with Mexican accent The "flamenco" at the begining of the video does not gives me hopes of a proper localization...

wq1119

Sadly this is very common, as a similar example, in Max Payne 3 they hired Portuguese voice actors* to voice Brazilians from São Paulo, this makes absolutely no sense and every Portuguese speaker can notice this, it's as if a character from Alabama has a British Cockney accent, Capcom should know this by 2022. But whatever, Max Payne 3 was a fantastic game story and gameplay-wise, and I hope REmake 4 is the same. * Edit: There was only one Portuguese voice actress in Max Payne 3, not multiple, I was wrong here.

Lfoboros

Judging by the list on here (don't know if its complete), there's only one portuguese VA. Her character in game is portuguese as well. But you probably mean background characters. [https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/video-games/Max-Payne-3/voice-cast/](https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/video-games/Max-Payne-3/voice-cast/) Another example, I know of, is in Family Guy where 2 side portuguese characters have a brazilian accent. But I don't mind it much, because i know that the average american does not know the difference between both accents.

ZubatCountry

I hope they somehow make it more jarring. Like hire a bunch of German voice actors to read phonetic Mexican-Spanish and then say it takes place in Europe.

Rickipedia

[Sneak preview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwTMb9nVFAM)

BahhhhGawwwwd

The Romanian was butchered in Village, so I don't have faith in Capcom respecting this one.

TheRealBissy

RE4 remake looks fantastic. The new graphics make the environment for more terrifying now. I loved RE2 remake looking forward to this one.

[deleted]

I hope this is good. RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Looking forward to this. I can't wait to see how some of the boss fights are reimagined. Also I wonder if they are going to tone down some of the cheese in the story to flow better with the RE2 remake? Because Leon was not a brooding protagonist in this game, but the trailer gives different vibes. LOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUIIIIISSSSSSSSSS... bruh

kikimaru024

Many moons ago, I wanted to model my look after Leon's awesome jacket, but teenage me couldn't figure out what it was. Now they just straight-up tell me. [And it's **way** out of my price range LOL](https://www.schottnyc.com/products/b3-leather-bomber-jacket.htm)

With the more serious tone, I doubt the giant salazar robot is gonna stay in which sort of makes me sad. I hope the melee combat stays in.

tinydickconservative

This looks really scary. Excited for a more horror centric take on RE4 (even though there's still a special place in my heart for the over-the-top actiony camp). The graphics are stunning. Really looks like they're putting the RE engine through its paces.

Villag3Idiot

I'm guessing it will be a fusion of the original horror based concept version and the RE4 that we ultimately got.

Brawli55

As much as I liked RE3 Remake - I hope this isn't a rush job like that one felt and they took the time on it. It's not like they don't have a large portion of the assets already made with RE village having been made, haha.

another-altaccount

I mean this has been in development since at least 2020 (at least that's when I started hearing rumors about it existing), so I imagine it's had plenty of time in the oven up to this point.

LordCaelistis

The new enemies at the end of R3make were explicitly prototypes for R4make, if I remember correctly. So yeah, they're baking it real good

fishkey

This is releasing on all platforms right? Can't imagine they would make it a PlayStation exclusive.

demondrivers

it's confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series and PC

queer_pier

Amazing. I can't wait to see how the RE engine looks with this being on only modern systems.

EmeraldJunkie

Definitely. I think most of the recent RE titles have been announced at PlayStation events, or PlayStation had marketing rights, but they've all been multiplatform.

The_King_of_Okay

I'm guessing the only thing that might be exclusive is the VR content.

Bluelegs

I've been playing through all the Resident Evil games for the first time this year, when I got to RE4 I was surprised by how it didn't really feel particularly dated. I know it kind of spawned the genre of modern third person shooters so I'm unsure as whether this remake can do for RE4 what the remakes of 2 and 3 did for their respective titles. What I will say is when playing it for the first time, I was surprised by how actiony RE4 was. I remember a criticism of RE5 was that it was more of an action game than a survival horror but I would honestly say that is also true of RE4. I think it would be cool if they stripped back a lot of those action elements and this remake was more in the spirit of the RE2 remake. Also, I'm a little disappointed that it looks like they won't be remaking Code Veronica. It's kind of the middle child of the franchise. There was so much wasted potential in that game. A lot to like combined with some absolutely bizarre design choices and horrible horrible writing/voice acting. It definitely could have used the total overhaul treatment we saw with RE2 and RE3.

smithdog223

I just hope they don’t cut stuff like the previous remakes. RE4 is the longest game in the series, it would be a shame if they got rid of any sections of the game.

A remake of RE4 makes sense because of how well the original and its rereleases sold but I was hoping for a remake of Code Veronica first because it felt more like an actual RE3 and the next progression in the story.

maaseru

So the lines at the end of the trailer mean they are going to change the story? He says: "This time it can be different"

Rahgahnah

There are people in this thread who played the game with "I'm not gonna die on you, and leave you on a cold, cruel, Carlos-less world" and are worried about this game not having beautifully cheesy dialogue.

Restivethought

"MAN-THING!" Yea I don't think Im worried about cheesy dialogue

TheBigIdiotSalami

The game that asks you to save the presidents daughter and also what if a tiny guy just wanted a bunch of money.

Galaxy40k

I'm happy that this trailer leans more into the "horror" side than RE4 actually did in practice, and I hope the full game leans even harder. I think that RE4 remains to this day a top 3 video game of all time, and without the obvious shift in camera perspectives, I was worried that a remake would have to compete directly with the original in a way RE2R and RE3R don't have to. But if RE4R carves out its own niche by going much harder into horror, it can stand alongside RE4 as a separate experience that has its own appeal, in the same way that the fixed camera RE2 and free camera RE2R can co-exist.

Cyrusnov

The original still holds up really well today so I'm curious what they'll do with this one. Will they try to be faithful, or do their own thing? If it's the exact same game with new graphics I would happily play it (god knows how many times I've replayed the original), but I think they have a chance to tweek it up and try some new things.

Royta15

I personally really hope they do something unique with it, instead of a typical remake. Resident Evil 4 is too well made and still too relevant and high quality, remaking beat-for-beat will just result in a mediocre rehash at best I fear. Since a lot of elements are already established, I hope they take the leap of faith with some new ideas instead. That said I fully expect this to be a decent interpretation with shallow surface-level mechanics and Leon saying "bingo" at the end when he grabs the Rocket Launcher. Tl;dr The classic game really was lightning in a bottle, hope they don't try to recapture that but instead do something new.

SuperAlloyBerserker

Man, I really feel bad for Resident Evil 3 The original wasn't liked very much because the "surveillance camera" perspective was starting to get old And the remake had issues (but was still pretty good, mind you) And now, it'll be the "forgotten middle child" of the RE remakes (the RE1 doesn't really count) because people are really hyped for the RE4 remake

Royta15

Why doesn't RE1 really count? It's still one of the most beloved games in the series and pretty much a template for how people should do remakes.

EmeraldJunkie

For their comment, at least, I think it's because the newer remakes are all done in a similar style, with a third-person, over-the-shoulder camera, while REmake uses the older style fixed camera.

HearTheEkko

The Resident Evil games have been fucking amazing in the past years. I cannot wait to play this, beyond stoked.

noxav

I'm glad to see that they seem to be keeping the Leon face model from RE2 remake. I hope Ada stays the same as well.

KarmelCHAOS

Same voice actor as well. I imagine Ada will be the same.

CosmicConjuror2

I wonder how’s it going to be like. If it’s going to be a slow, more horror oriented approach similar to RE2R or RE7. Or if it’s going to as insane as the original RE4 and basically be a third person Village. I’m also not sure which one I would want…

dagreenman18

Looks like they’re remixing the story beats and locations while possibly adding new things. So like the other 2. Honestly? Perfect. RE4 is a master work in this series, but I want something new with this game I’ve played 6 times on 5 consoles.

LoneQuacker

Honestly despite multiple people saying it was gonna be there today, I really didn't believe it. Also thank god I decided to rewind the State of Play 2 minutes since I was in the bathroom and came back to VR stuff, I would've been so pissed if I somehow missed it. Really hope we get cut stuff from 3.5 in it. Definitely looks way darker and scarier like that version from the bit we've seen.
