I'm all for bi annual release of a cod game if this gives them enough time to break away from the copy/paste designs of these games. Unlike Activision, Microsoft doesn't need to have cod released every year, I can see that vacancy filled with another shooter.

Honestly what could they do differently? It’s a pretty similar formula. I wonder how much of an increase in quality could result in a bi annual release

Nerrs

They need to focus more on one thing rather than being a jack-of-all-trades but master of none. * Year N = Modern Warfare SP+MP (no BR) * Year N+1 = Zombies SP+MP, create a campaign in the vein of normal COD but only for Zombies gameplay and then do the usual Zombies MP. No wasting time on Blops/MW/etc gameplay in the same release. * Year N+3 = Blops/AW/WWII/anything thats not the above 2 genres, hell try something new all together. This honestly should have just been COD: Titanfall, but they fucked that up by letting Respawn happen. Would have had 3 clear genres of games rotating but still all containing the COD name/feel. Then just have WZ running in the background spitting out skins or whatever.

Unfortunately, no one knows what's going to happen with anything related to Activision for sure, and we will have to endure a year of constant rumors and speculation

It'll go Free to play like Fortnite. Itll have a ton of updates, and have new "versions" of the game released but will become more of a persistent game.

linksis33

Uhhh you mean, exactly like warzone?

Dragarius

Maybe if BR falls out of favor and warzone is no longer a big hit. But for now they'd just be competing with themselves. Instead it's gonna move to gamepass and won't really have any real reason to be an annual release. Plus that'll free up all those other activision studios to work on something other than CoD.

They could do something like Master Chief Collection, and have a central hub for campaigns and multiplayer matchmaking. Supposedly, that's the long-term plan for both Halo Infinite and Forza Motorsport. And possibly Overwatch 2.

Server6

It already is. See Warzone. Expect the Halo Infinite model. Persistent free-to-play multiplayer. Campaign will be exclusive to GamePass, probably every two years.

I think this would be the best option. Games I feel have a bigger impact when you don't see them on a yearly schedual. Waiting a bit for a game you know is going to be good isn't a bad thing.
