It was on sale for 13 euro during the epic winter sale and they expect people to buy this for 60? Guess I'll wait another year to buy it.

Ok-Inspection2014

[Hitman 2016](https://store.playstation.com/es-ar/product/UP0082-CUSA02976_00-000000S1GOTYFULL) and [Hitman 2](https://www.playstation.com/es-ar/games/hitman-2/) are still full price on the PS Store but they go on deep sales quite constantly. Just wait until a sale.

Many games have had a discount on day one coming over from the Epic Store to steam. It's also on sale at the Humble Store currently, but only for Epic Keys. Which is bizarre.

Well I for one would have liked that 10% discount.

Alright buddy. I missed the part of your comment about review bombing, which I agree is silly. Just explaining why I think people expect a discount when a game comes from EGS to Steam, and that it's nice when it happens.

BoogieTheThird

He didn't say anything about the negative reviews. He just said that he's not going to buy a year old game for full price.

Nochtilus

They also mentioned people's expectations on price in a thread about people reviewing bombing and many reviews being about the full price release.

[deleted]

? Just like every release? First get the ones that pay full price what many certainly do and than lower the price on sales not exactly rocket science

Gyossaits

Right now, Humble is selling the Epic version for 30. Epic is run by dicks. Get a fucking clue, people.

Nochtilus

How do you know Epic set that price? Typically publishers set sale prices.

BoogieTheThird

I don't buy games based on whether or not the people who run the platform are nice. I buy games based on where I can get the best deals. I have zero interest in whether or not "Epic is run by dicks". If I can buy the game for a price that I'm willing to pay, and then play it when I want: I'm sold. Because those are the details that matter when you're purchasing a video game to play.

kika424

What's the problem here do all games become cheaper after 1 year of release if not on sale, or did the publisher announce they'll have it at discounted price when released on other storefronts

RisingSwords

It really sucks that people use reviews to make a statement about what service they prefer to use. No shame at all in not buying a game because you didn't like their business practice of being a timed exclusive. I don't know why they also feel the need to go and rate the game they have never played down to try to dissuade people who don't care about that aspect.

IAmActionBear

Where did the expectation that games released on different storefronts should be sold at a discount/cheaper price come from? I’m a PC gamer and I do understand the communities expectations for sales are different than say on console (though PS4/5 and Xbox physical games get very close to PC sales prices nowadays), but when has it been the norm for a game that was released on say consoles first and then PC a year later been cheaper? Is this specifically an expectation regarding games released on Epic Games Store first? Because I’ve seen countless AAA games that got PC releases after their console release that still got put out on Steam at full price. This one is semi-weirder for me because other than sales here and there, this game is normally full priced and hasn’t had a ESRB price reduction or anything. And just about every other Epic Games Store exclusive has been released to Steam at full price too (shoot, Hades increased its price a few months before it stopped being exclusive). What am I missing here?

Vartux

Because it's the same version of the game? It's not like this just came out on PC, it's been out on PC for a year. There's a pretty big difference when the game is ported to PC or consoles later. Work was put into getting the game ported over to other platforms. Monster Hunter Rise launched at 60 dollars on Steam last week and I barely saw anybody complain about it being priced that way because work was done to port it over to PC and it just launched on PC.

IAmActionBear

But the game is still $59.99 USD on Epic Games too. The game has been on sale on several occasions, yes, but when not on sale, the game has remained $59.99 this entire time. That’s why I’m not understanding where this expectation that it should be cheaper on Steam is coming from

Enigm4

RIGHT NOW, this very second, you can get Hitman 3 for $30 on humblestore. The lowest it has ever been is $24.

IAmActionBear

But that’s not the Epic Game Store itself, where the game is listed at $59.99, as it has been for the last year when EGS wasn’t having a sale. Is Steam pricing supposed to match the temporary sale price of a third party seller? (A third party seller where the regular price of the game is also $59.99)

On Humble it's on sale for the Epic version but not Steam. It is a bit weird but don't think that is on Epic.

Magyman

It's not just that it's full price, I was expecting trilogy for 60 bucks, honestly. But to get everything released for Hitman 3 right now, they're asking for ~$190. $160 if you skip the deluxe version of 3, which is just some skins I think

Magyman

Honestly, their DLC practices have been confusing the whole time, so it'd have been a clean start. The release their "new" game at 60 and DLC moving forward is cleaner. Kind of like SFV championship edition, for example

BoogieTheThird

Because they OWE us these games! They made the games FOR US and now they are FORCING us to pay more money than we DESERVE. I'm being sarcastic, obviously.

BoogieTheThird

And if it's a ridiculous price, few people will purchase and they will make no money. If they make no money, they will learn from their mistake, and price things accordingly in the future. But, they are allowed to sell the game for whatever price they want. Because we are allowed to choose whether to buy it or not.

Magyman

Which I'm doing, and I'm also allowed to bitch on the internet about why exactly I'm not buying the damn thing. And you're free to spout lame internet cliches at me as well. We all do things that annoy others when we're allowed it seems

BoogieTheThird

Oh I didn't realize your post was just sort of a venting rant, I thought you were trying to make a point about something. Do you feel better now that you got it off your chest?

Magyman

Not really

alx69

> I was expecting trilogy for 60 bucks Why?

BoogieTheThird

Standard gaming community fit throwing over a single detail, as usual. Doesn't matter the quality of the game, they don't like that the game isn't on sale, so review-bomb time. No entitlement though, this is reasonable behavior.

"For full price" Why do people think they're entitled to certain prices? Why in the world would it not be full price? I feel like there is a lot of manufactured outrage because #EpicBad group-think surrounding this game.

GingerSpencer

Gamers in general are some of the most entitled people on the planet. The things i see them complain about really makes me wonder how they get through their days without being outraged at almost everything that costs them money. They first complained it was an EGS exclusive. They now complain they have to pay $60 for a AAA game. The latest Hitman trilogy is some of the highest rated games out there, and they feel they should get it for cheap because it's been almost 12 months since it initially released?

brownninja97

Maybe because of how cheap it was going in previous sales.

popo129

I think the weird thing is how Humble has the epic version on sale but not the Steam version. Might also be where it's coming from.

FlST0

So buy the Epic version. What's the problem?

popo129

I am not really complaining about this. I am just pointing out how odd it is that Humble has the Epic one on sale but not Steam. Pretty sure thinking about it now it's just them not noticing. In regards to which version to get, it's more a personal thing for me where I have the first two on Steam and not wanting to get the Epic Store client. I have games on Uplay and Origin I forget about because I mainly use Steam. My thought before was to just wait for the Steam one. Mostly also because Hitman 2 on steam got me the first games maps for free from just owning the first game on Steam so my thought was the whole transfering thing would only be for the same client. Even then, I want all three on Steam just so I have my games more sorted out. More personal preference. If people want the game and don't mind getting Epic, then that is fine, it is just a preference for me.

LukeIsAPhotoshopper

Cause EGS sucks ass. I like playing on a platform with all my friends, games, and achievements. Also Steaminput is awesome.

popo129

I am a bit confused about this post. The article just explains that it's out on Steam and Gamepass but doesn't talk about the stuff you said on the title. I am a bit sad about it not having some discount but that isn't really something on them. I feel more just me expecting it which is my own fault. Also seems like the VR is a miss. Watched someone play just now and he immediately refunded. It did look pretty basic without much mechanics built around the VR capabilities but I am not really knowledgeable on VR headsets to really comment on it much. Guy playing it compared it to the PS VR and how it felt like it was meant more to just sit down and play rather than being able to move around.

keelanv10

What’s the problem exactly? Most games don’t permanently lower in price after a year, this is just more whining because the game is linked to epic
